How old are you? (this question is optional): Old enough to be mature...xD
You've been a member for how long: More than a year
How much time do you spend on CS in the average day/week?: A lot. At least 3 hours a day usually, sometimes more...
Do you feel you know CS well enough to answer all the common questions?: Of course! I already always step in when I see someone having trouble with the site. It makes me feel smart. xD
Do you have the patience to deal with stupid questions being asked over and over?: Yes. I have a little brother and am actually a tutor to several kids with ADHD at school. I help them a lot, and they usually ask remarkably stupid questions many times over... try being asked what your favorite color is 10 times in one day while keeping your cool.
Why do you want to be a newbie-helper?: I love to help people! :) As I said, I am a tutor in school and always step in when I see a CS user with a question because, 9 times out of 10, I know the answer. I enjoy helping people because I feel as if it's my duty to. I feel bad when I walk away from someone with a question that I know how to answer.
Have you ever had moderating experience on any forums if so please post a link: No. I have only played 2 other sites this actively before, those sites being Howrse, where you have to know the owner to be a mod ( I think), and HorseIsle, where they ban you if you even mention being modded. xD
Do you have any suggestions for the team name (instead of 'Newbie-Helper') xD ?: Hmm.. maybe the Team of Teachers? :) We could be T&T. Boom!

{ I love this idea O___O Whether or not I am chosen, I'll still watch the boards :D }

  • How old are you?: I am 13 going on 14 in March
  • You've been a member for how long: Approximately 6 months
  • How much time do you spend on CS in the average day/week?: Oh, gawd, I'd have to say...way more than necessary. With school aside I'd say 4-7 hours a day
  • Do you feel you know CS well enough to answer all the common questions?: I do actually
  • Do you have the patience to deal with stupid questions being asked over and over?: I have patience but I have trouble repeating myself. I do think I'm capable of answering anyone, whether I've answered it or not. I don't mind if they ask over and over, it just means I would know the answer in a heart beat X3
  • Why do you want to be a newbie-helper?: I don't mind to stop and help. I'm not a fan of others being ignored when they are just barely getting started. It can make someone feel left out, and that's not a good feeling. Also, I understand, as I'm sure everyone does, how difficult it could be to adjust in a new community. I'd love to see that the newcomers join with open arms, people willing to make that first post in the introductions threads and just say 'Hey, Welcome to CS', I don't do this very often myself though. Flaming. It irks me that some people easily jump to conclusions and make assumptions when someone states an opinion or ask a question about something they are not up to date with. Flaming is not necessary in CS. I believe there are simpler ways to state an opinion or just not at all.
  • Have you ever had moderating experience on any forums if so please post a link: I have never actually. I use the internet to mainly go on Chicken Smoothie or talk to friends. Therefore I don't explore into other websites much.
  • Do you have any suggestions for the team name (instead of 'Newbie-Helper') xD ?: ...Oh...well Newbie helper is fine but my suggestion(s)...Da Helpers, CS Welcomers...or something. I'm not really sure. Newbie Assist. :?:

Mausoleum wrote:Just to quickly pop back in here again and say that I don't think that calling certain people "Liars" when they may have made an innocent typo (look at your keyboard, the "9" is right next to the "8") is very kind or helpful in the thread. I'm sure Tess will choose people based on their entire application and not toss one because someone was "lying" About their join date. Like it was said, the join date is right there for everyone to see, so it's about as useful as lying about your username.

"Also, my opinion is that people with more posts should have more of a chance! I mean, if you joined last year, but only have, like.... 30 posts, or something, and you only post in the RP sections, then chances are you're not that ready for the job, anyways."

No, no, no... There is probably a minimum number of posts, like say if the only post you've made is your application, then, well *cough*

However, having more posts says nothing about your patience or helpfulness, which is more the point of the thread. Someone could, for instance, be posting solely on the forum games, or post totally irrelevant and unhelpful comments, or just generally be an idiot, and they could STILL have thousands of posts. In fact, on a forum I frequent, the higher posters have the most warnings and are generally the rudest and most idiotic people I know on the internet. Having more posts doesn't really say much about your abilities.

Hmm.... That makes sense. I know a TON of people around here who have lots of posts, that are very good people, though. Besides, that was just my opinion. ;)

probably in about 3 or 4 days if I've had enough applicants to choose from by then :)

*captain obvious* something tells me Tess will have more than enough applicants by then...

No need to sound rude about it. ;)

Haha, last time they were applying for mods, there was, like.... 1000 applications in less than 3 days! XD

I didn't mean to sound rude, I just thought it was funny how she said that and only about 16 hours after she said that she has more than enough volunteers to choose from.
(Possibly) Back after a long hiatus!

How old are you? (this question is optional): 19
You've been a member for how long: About 3 months.
How much time do you spend on CS in the average day/week?: As much time as I have, so probably about 8 hours a day.
Do you feel you know CS well enough to answer all the common questions?: Yes, except maybe questions of how much exactly a pet is worth.
Do you have the patience to deal with stupid questions being asked over and over?: Yes, I do. I'm pretty patient with newbs. It's not their fault they don't understand!
Why do you want to be a newbie-helper?: Because I already enjoy helping newbs, even though I could be considered one since I've been on here for so short of time.
Have you ever had moderating experience on any forums if so please post a link: No, I have not.
Do you have any suggestions for the team name (instead of 'Newbie-Helper') xD ?: No... Except maybe Newb-Aid.

How old are you? (this question is optional): 13, going on 14 :)
You've been a member for how long: Since August of 2008
How much time do you spend on CS in the average day/week?: Lets see, I ussually get on at 6-7:30 am my time and then again from like 4-8 pm my time so I'd say about 27 1/2 hours a school week
Do you feel you know CS well enough to answer all the common questions?: Yes, I do
Do you have the patience to deal with stupid questions being asked over and over?: Yes, I have four younger siblings and 7 younger cousins, patience is like a necessity
Why do you want to be a newbie-helper?: My # one rule when on a site is that we were all newbies once, and I'm sure we all once asked horribly obvious questions. I like helping people, and I love the satisfaction of knowing you helped somone out.
Have you ever had moderating experience on any forums if so please post a link: Not as a real mod, but i run the Warrior Cat Fan Club on CS and the Wajas4Newbees program on Wajas
Do you have any suggestions for the team name (instead of 'Newbie-Helper') xD ?: I think Newbie-Helper is simple, and straight to the point so people know who they (maybe we) are. Though I'll probably just start thinking anyway, I like being creative :3
