I need a little help.

You see, I'm having an issue with trying to convince my family to allow me to adopt a dog.

You see, my friend's brother found this dog on the interstate. They took her to the vet, and they helped her out a little. The vet thinks that she's a ChihuahuaxBeagle mix. On one side, her ribs stick slightly out of her side, making it appear she has a big lump, where she had been kicked on the other side. Her back legs were broken, and the way they healed, they make her have a limp/waddle-like run and walk. But my friend's family just keeps her outside in the cold most of the time because they don't know what to do with her. Keep in mind, she isn't a puppy, she's an adult from what I was told.

Over a sleep over, a couple of friends and I named her Honey because of her coat color.

Honey seriously needs an actual home, and an actual family. She needs someone to take care of her, because my friend's family can't do it themselves with all of their dogs. We [the people at the sleep-over] all decided it would be best if I could convince my family to allow her to stay with me, seeing I have the most experience dealing with abused and lost dogs.

The issue isn't my mother or brother though, they want Honey with us. The problem is my dad and my grandparents. My grandparents don't want their furniture dirty, which is why they don't really want the dogs we have now upstairs. Honey tends to shed a lot, and because of her reckless past owners, she was never potty trained. My dad doesn't want to get close to any other dog, it seems, because he knows it's going to die and he doesn't want to get attached. That, or he thinks everything will go wrong.

Please, does anyone have any idea how I can pass this problem?

Honey is so dear to me now, I don't want her to have to stay outside in the cold during the rest of the winter, nor in the heat during the summer. She needs a good home, and I'm not sure many other people can supply that. She's extremely important to me<3

did you get her checked if she has a microchip? Because she could have got lost.

Dogs don't get lost in the middle of interstates.
Plus, it was clear that she was abused. If she had gotten herself there, if anything she ran away.

Plus, I'm pretty sure my friend had the vet check her for anything, and if a chip was found I believe the vet would have informed her.
I'll have to call her on that, but either way, I don't think Honey would want to go back to wherever she came from, given the condition she was in. That's not the kind of thing you can see dogs do to other dogs, either. e.e

I'm not trying to sound offensive but it is always possible she ran off chasing a rabbit and got lost. But yeah your right the vet would probably have checked

I knew you weren't. ^^
It's always a possibility. Plus, she had no collar, or any signs of one ever.
The past owners didn't even take the time to potty train her. So, I guess they wouldn't spend the time to get a chip for her.

First, my dog isn't allowed on the furniture. So maybe you could just instruct Honey not to sit or climb on the furniture, like we did with our dog. And brush her daily to make sure hair doesn't get all over everything.
Second, for your dad, you should let him meet Honey and see what a good dog she is. And if she doesn't have any other health problems, maybe your family will feel pity for her and want to take her in, no matter what.

I'm sorry thats all the advice I could give. I wish there was more I could do. I hope Honey gets a safe home somehow.

If you cant convince your parents to let her inside you could always make a kennel for her at your house or your friends?

I did at the dinner table, a few hours ago.

Well, seeing what Honey is mixed with, she is a "lap-dog". But, the thing is, because of her back legs, she wouldn't be able to jump on the furniture anyway. And I do like the brush idea, I'll have to mention that. The thing about my dad is, well, he's qualified as disabled, and it can hurt him to walk sometimes. Plus, Honey is currently staying at my friend's house until she finds a home. Though, my dad would probably be too lazy, or uncooperative to go see her.

I'm not sure if she has any other health problems, though. I'll have to ask my friend. Also, my family does feel pity for abused dogs, but they don't like the fact of having to actually go to see her. :C

A... a kennel? That would mean a cage, well, at least most kennels involve one. The poor baby shouldn't be in a cage, well, at least to me. Cages is one thing I strongly disagree with unless they're untrustworthy or aggressive. Though, thank you so much for your advice, and the compliment.<3

I meant more like a dog house, somewhere where she can be warm and get away from the cold if she cant go inside

I'd have to think about that..

But I think she'd be allowed inside, just not on the furniture.
Seeing our much larger dogs are allowed inside.
