I've been stalking for a while. I figure I should post again lol.

Allizia, that's very cute n.n I love the funny expression. The only thing that I would recommend is to adjust the legs, one is a little bit further down and the feet might look better if they look the same imo :).

Okay, so I've been playing with an adoption thread and I'm at a dead end with this adoptable template, idea wise. It definitely needs clothes and some kind of hair, the trick is they would need to be gender neutral and be kind of leafy. Here's the sketch, does any one have any tips/suggestions on something I can do, or inspirational references? Critiques or red lines are fine if there's anything horrible or that should be improved.... any ways here's the sketch (I know it's very messy, sorry XS)

@Alice

sorry it took so long, spent the day devoting myself to combining an alligator, an iguana and a human /properly/.

but here

As for above mentioned study (And my previous version here), yes? no? Crits welcome.

@Allizia

That looks adorable. Though the ears are usually smaller, and the mane comes lower. as well, the neck ends quite abruptly, Id suggest smoothing that or extending the line so that it shows the overlap. but that's just me - Good job~!

AWw, Allizia, that pony is adorable! C:

I'd say that the anatomy look a bit too wolfish, though-- especially around the head and body. Maybe add a dip in the back?

And how can you hate My Little Pony? ; n ;
It's such a cute show. xDD

I never really show my characters much on here, so I figure I might as well start doing so.
I decided to start doing a reference page for my OC, Sapiens first. The ref sheet's not done yet, but here's a picture that will go along with it, unshaded so the patterns are easily seen:

Image

Sapiens (saw-pee-ens) is the god of creatures within my story. He created all creatures in turn, starting with wolves, rabbits, hawks, and deer-- which were initially made to resemble his own appearance.
Though new creatures are not made in the modern times of my story, Sapiens is still a highly spoken of and respected god. As each creature dies, it is Sapiens' job to guide souls into their next bodies, continuing on the flow of life with reincarnation.
It is because of his love and care for all creatures that Sapiens has become many more times revered than Ineo, the very creator of the world, his mother.

Sapiens' base design was actually extremely random. I just drew some random creature one day and it evolved into this, lol.
I decided to later pick apart several of his parts, and make a story of creating creatures based off of his own looks-- rabbit, hawk, deer, and wolf were quite easy to get off of him. xD
His overall body shape is birdlike, except for wolf-like legs. The only part of him that hasn't been defined as another animal is his tail, which is just generic, I'd say.
His legs and tailbones are actually bare bone, although they appear to be silvery. Silver is a very important aspect in my story for reasons that I cannot tell, and is mentioned many times so I thought that this was a nice touch for him. The reason for them actually being bone is to show how he deals with both life and death.
I've thought of making his antlers silvery as well, but I've had two qualms against that and decided not to. For one, it just looks ugly, and then the fact that antlers are constantly growing and being replaced doesn't really bring out that "dead" aspect as his legs do, so matching them doesn't make much sense to me. xD

I think it looks neat so far, but there are things that could be improved^^. It's quite a tricky pose, so I can see how you would have trouble with it. If you'd like to I could attempt a redline for you, I think that would be easier for me than words in this case. Otherwise, I think that in a pose where your animal is stretching upwards the back would probably be curved down, rather than up, to make a bit of an arched slope from the neck to the tail. The neck also looks slightly disconnected from the body, but I think that fixing the back should take care of that as well. About the legs on different levels, try moving the hind feel a little forward, together with the arched back it'll make the animal crouch a bit^^. I feel that none of this made any sence, so come back and prod me if you have any questions or would be interested in a redline^^'.

Could you do a redline?That would help a ton!

Oh, of course, I love redlining^^. Here is the redline for you. (I'm sorry about the quality, but since I'm currently moving my computer is on the floor at the moment and it's quite an uncomfortable working position so I had to finish it pretty fast^^'.). I think that this pose looks more comfortable for the wolfs back, and it also improves the balance a bit when stretching upwards like that^^. I moved the hind legs forwads and let the front legs only lightly touch the ground. I didn't touch the head at all, because it's just perfect the way it is.

JtHMlover8, (could I perhaps just call you Johnny? Or is JtHM better?), I think I liked the shape of the head better in the first version, but the body and pose defenatly looks better in the new version. The new one has a really nice stance, I like it a lot. I also like the darker shorts better than the lighter version.

Susiron, I'm ashamed to post art just below your drawing, it's beautiful. Eventhough I'm no fan of bare bone details on characters I can see how it would work for him and the story behind. I love the overall anathomy (ohmai, them wings!) but most of all I adore the simple brown colour scheme with the cream patterns. It's sweet to see how you gave a modest colour scheme to a very special character.

Here is something I drew yesterday, it's avatar for my friend Snickers.doodle in the same style as my own. I know that the ear/hair connection looks terrible, but it was late and I just wanted to finish it up before sleeping^^'.
