but it really annoys me when people add 'And I'm a girl' or 'And I'm only ___ years old.'

Really, it's not needed, such things where made for children of all ages and sexes,
because you're a girl and you like Pokemon, doesn't mean you're some sort of rebel, and it doesn't make you different.
