"Fer now it'll be a bit o' a free for all on sleepin' spots," replied Gannet with a sheepish shrug. "Just crash wherever there's room, and tomorrow I'll try an' get everyone settled somewhere a bit more comfortable." He closed the gate behind the last member of the crew and followed them as they made their way towards the house, going to the front so he could lead them in. The front door of the farmhouse stuck and he fiddled with the latch for a few long moments until he was finally able to open it with a hard shove of the shoulder. Warmth from a roaring fire in the hearth spilled out, as did light from three or four oil lamps that sat on tables around the small front room.

Jack's face broke into a grin as the warmth washed over him. Quickly glancing over his shoulder at the rest of the crew, he jogged in, settling himself down on the floor right in front of the fire. It was even warmer here, and he was glad for it. His small cabin on the Maiden wasn't nearly as warm as this, and it had to be about half the size, if that. Shuffling, he tangled his fingers together and placed them behind his head, not looking up.
"I'm not movin' from 'ere!" He called, his voice ringing with a teasing tone.
Tessa, meanwhile, walked into the little room slowly, scowling at the form of Jack near the fire. Trust him to take the best spot. Then again, it wasn't like she herself could take it, having litterally just got herself in Sonja's bad books only around five minutes ago. This lead her to decide to take the most uncomfortable spot she could, resigning to stand beside the doorway, leaning against the wall as she waited for everyone else to choose places to sleep. No doubt she would actually end up sleeping where she was now.

Wildmagic_warrior wrote:"Well," said Sonja, trying to remember some of the tales she'd heard. "I think... let me see, it must have been Ingo. She told me that when she first joined the ship, way back, there were two captains. Liza and Alexa, I think. They had been captains of separate crews, but one of the ships sank and the Maiden was left limping along. The two first mates were Milo and Elle-something." She paused, straining to recall. "I can't remember much. If I think of any more I'll tell you, though." Glancing ahead, she saw that Gannet had paused in opening the farmyard's gate and was standing with his head down, eyes shut tightly and face crunched up as though he had an awful headache. "I wonder what's wrong with him...?" the navigator mused.
Emerald smiled as Sonja talked. "That's quite a tale." she said with a giggle. "One day we'll all have to take a day off and tell some stories. I sure if everybody wanted to tell a story or two, we'd be sitting 'round a fire fer days!" she joked exaggerating just a little bit. She looked over at Gannet and shrugged. "No clue. Looks like he's 'bout to pass out on the floor." she said, watching as him and Jack started talking.

"Probably just tired," replied Sonja with a shrug. "Scared out of his wits too, I suspect- guess I'd be the same if a ship o' pirates just washed up on my doorstep." She went through the gate and across the yard, grinning slightly as Jack bolted into the house and crashed down in front of the fire. "Wonder why he keeps lookin' at Ingo, though. He'll be in fer a hard scrabble iffen he wants her good graces- Liam seems to have gotten them first." She nodded to where the hulking blacksmith was trying to squeeze himself into the smallest space possible as the crew found places to sleep. The Navigator noted that Tessa has shoved herself behind the door and decided that she didn't want to rub her higher position in the woman's face. She let the cook keep his spot by the fire and instead stretched herself out along the wall near a doorway that led off to a different part of the house.
Melody was not so sympathetic. She prodded the cook in the stomach with one heavy boot and said, "Bunch up an' leave a bit o' room for yer quartermaster, why don't ye?" The redhead thumped herself down and bunched her scarf underneath her head as a makeshift pillow. She was asleep almost right away, even with the noise in the background. Melody could fall asleep practically anywhere.

Jack grumbled, looking up at her. He lifted himself up onto his forearms and placed his hand on his stomach.
"'Onestly, no need ta be so 'arsh." He protested, but shifted over, closer to the fire. He didn't mind having Melody next to him, especially because there was a lack of sleeping places in the little room, but it could get the crew talking. Spreading rumours to each other.
Tessa watched everything happen out of the corner of her eyes, turning her head a little to watch as Sonja settled by another wall. Anger welled up inside the pirate at the thought of the Navigator giving her sympathy. I don't need 'er sympathy. I've managed fine on me own, an' I don't need 'er actin' like tha, givin' up 'er rightful place jus' ta make me feel comfortable.
She slid her back down the wall so she was sitting on the floor. She wasn't tired yet, so she'd just sit here and wait.

Sonja glanced at Tessa-Rose and caught her eye. She saw an angry look there, and then turned over on her side with a small huffing sound. Some people just can't be satisfied. Ye talk practically to 'em and they shoot up the sidewalk. Ye try an' be nice but leavin' the warm spots open fer the crew members who ain't had a real fireplace in months and they think ye're showin' 'em pity. She closed her eyes and shut out the noises of the crew settling down. Of course, she was lying to herself. She hadn't only wanted to sleep here to give the rest of the crew a chance to lie by the fireplace, although that was partially true. She was trying to show a bit of kindness to the gunner, who always seemed so wound up and angry at everything. And again, she thought, Some people just can't be satisfied. I'll stay clear of her fer a bit an' let the cap'n deal with 'er when she gets better.

Tessa, furrowing her eyebrows, shot a glance to Sonja out of the corner of her eye, and her face moulded into a small sneer. She would show the Navigator that she didn't need pity. She'd got along fine without it for years, and she didn't need it know.
Her fingers moved to the hilt of her sword, and she wrapped them around it, feeling the cold metal against her palm. Closing her eyes, she thought. The best part of planning was planning the plan. But she couldn't make a full, physical move yet. It was too early.
"Sonja, I don't need ye givin' up yer place when yer feelin' pity for me." She snarled.

"Ye'll recall that Liam fell overboard durin' the storm," replied Sonja, keeping ehr eyes shut so that she would not be forced to see the sneer she could hear in Tessa-Rose's voice. "I ain't showin' you pity, I'm giving the poor man a warm place to sleep. Asides, ah'm perfectly comfortable in a corner, jus' in case sommat happens." It was a veiled warning, although it didn't sound like one; Tessa-Rose had never seemed like someone who would ambush anyone in the middle of the night, but there was always a first time for everything and Sonja could never be too cautious. Sleeping in a corner gave her an advantage in the fact that anyone who wanted to kill her would have to come up right in front, and Sonja was not that heavy a sleeper.

((Sorry if this doesn't fit in, just tell me c: ))
Rodney sat by Indigo on a little wooden chair. He kept looking at her oddly as if she would die any minute or become a festering living corpse or something. He had such an overactive imgaination, but in truth he wa sjust coping with his worry.
Ingo had settled herself outside, looking up into the sky and across the ground that lay ahead. Her slim frame was curled and her arms were around her knees, she was smiling gently, green eyes seeming to glimmer with the lantern light that sat by her side. She yawned and sighed, exhausted from the day, it felt like it had lasted ages, but then again, most days aboard The Maiden did feel like that, long, tiring, but usually good. Ingo herself wa sbeginning to feel the effects of it, once a young, naive, lovestruck girl she was slowly becoming an almost roughened, methodical yet caring woman. For those who knew her before her journey on the ship mayn't have recognised her, if they did they'd be surprised. Her eyes were the same bright green as when she had lived on the streets, her clothing hadn't gotten better, but it had changed, she had grown, taller, slimmer, prettier, her hair had grown just a little but it was still a roughly cut short style. She just felt different in herself, even as she looked across the ground by the light by her side she felt almost better about life in itself. She had a small block of wood in her hand and a blade in her other and was chipping away skillfully, ocassionally looking up, but mainly deep in concentration. She felt glad to be settled on land again, even if it were just for a while.
