No real story for these two. I actually came across this pairing by accident when I was debating on a pair-up for one of the new second gens. Something about the combination of Coray and Distop's patterns just really grabs me. :>

Awesome! I'm reading the 4th book right now, but I only started the series six days ago. (I don't have a life either XD) But I do have to point out that Perseus was born after Posidon left Sally to go back to Olympus, and that Sally named Perseus that because she wanted him to have the luck of the actual god Perseus who was one of the only gods to have a happy ending. Yeah, I have a tendancy to be very specific. :3

His mom wanted him to have good luck. But by the looks of that, she is wrong wrong wrong.

Never trust a certain Sally Jackson for naming.

Popania[f] and Jerrod[m]

Popania and Jerrod walked through the woods near Christmastime. Something crunched under Jerrod's paw. He lifted his paw and looked quizzically at the wreckage. Suddenly, out of it flew a fairy, who looked very mad.

"How dare you step on my home!" she shouted.

"He didn't mean to," explained Popania.

"Still," said the fairy. "He must pay!" The fairy thought for a moment. She began a spell.
A foolish wolf,
who doesn't know where to put his paws,
will spend the rest of his day as a tree!
With some decorations to befit the season!

The fairy flew away with a cackle. Popania looked in horror at Jerrod. His fur began to turn green and bristly, his paws and legs brown and rough. He tried to jump, but his paws, or what had been his paws, were rooted to the ground. Less than thirty seconds later, Jerrod was a pine tree decorated with tinsle and ornaments.

"Jerrod!" Popania cried, placing her paws against the bark. The pine needles quivered.

"Jerrod?" Popania asked, looking into the tree. The pine needles shook, as if in the wind, but there was no wind. Jerrod could understand her!

"I'll never leave you," she whispered, curling up against the trunk. Jerrod seemed to sigh, the pine boughs touching the ground briefly. They then stood straight out in alarm. Popania was pushed away by the branches.

"What are you doing!?" she barked. She tried to curl up by the trunk again, but was shoved away. Then she understood. Jerrod didn't want her to waste her life.

"No!" she shouted. "I won't...not ever." Jerrod's branches sagged, and he allowed Popania under them. As the night closed in and the wind blew the snow around, The branches protected her.

Popania stayed as close to Jerrod as she could for a week in despair. Then she had an idea, and began to make a plan.

The next day, she reviewed the fairy's spell in her head. She would alter it and turn herself into a tree, and she could be stay in the woods forever and speak the language of plants with Jerrod.

That evening, she began:
"A foolish wolf,
who doesn't know where to put her paws..."

At this point, Jerrod realized what she was doing. He stuck his branches straight out and tried to cover her mouth, but she was just far enough away that he couldn't.

"Will spend the rest of her life as a tree.
With some decorations to befit the season!"

Popania felt herself begin to change, her fur turn green, her legs brown. Patches of her fur were bristly or rough. She felt decorations pop up on her. But then it stopped. She was a wolf. Still. But now she was a wolf who looked like a Christmas tree. She realized that it must not have worked because she was not a fairy.

Crying, she sank down under Jerrod's branches. They surrounded her comfortingly.

"I love you." Popania heard it in her head, Jerrod's voice.

"I love you, too," she thought back. For a few precious moments, their love had connected their thoughts.

So if you one day see an odd-looking wolf curled up against the trunk of a pine tree, do not wonder, for it is Popania and Jerrod.
