Name:
Asira
"Ah-seer-a"

Story:
Light? The Docksen fawn groaned, wanting to go back to sleep. The morning dew was beginning to drip off of the leaves and onto the fawn's head. She groaned and hauled herself to her feet as she yawned, her muscles protesting the movement. "Good morning, Asira," he mother said lovingly.

"Good morning mother," she replied.

"I'm going out to forage, so remember, don't go out into the forest, and be careful if you go to the water," Asira's mother raised her elegant head, pointing towards the lake.

Not really listening, the young fawn went ahead and began walking to the lake shore that was nearby to her little den and took a drink before coming back. "I will mother," she assured her and laid down again, turning her head away from the sunlight that had woke her. Within minutes she was asleep. The Docksen mother seemed to smile and licked her daughter's head before disappeariing into the nearby shrubbery. When Asira awoke, she was alone and the sun had climbed into the midday point of it's arc, shining beautifully on the water's surface and emerald green grasses lining the lake. Asira looked around; where was her mother? She couldn't remember their earlier conversation, and surely her mother hadn't left without her? Not thinking, Asira leapt up and bolted into the forest. She had ran a good distance before she remembered what her mother had said. She slowed to a stop and looked around, realizing she didn't know where she was. She gave a small whimper as her eyes rested on a gleaming set of golden ones, a sleek shape beginning to stalk out of the shadows. Asira wailed and bolted back the way she came, but her legs were too long and her balance still not the best. Ahead of her she could see the lake between the trees and she pushed herself faster as the beast's thundering steps behind her became increasingly louder.

Suddenly, without warning, Asira felt a huge clawed paw slam into her left haunch and send her wheeling into a nearby tree. She let out a loud yelp as the beast came to stand over her, saliva dripping from it's fangs. She scrambled to get away; she could feel her side was bruised from slamming into the tree. The beast stalked closer, sniffing the young fawn's face and baring it's teeth. Asira closed her eyes and waited for the worst, but instead it picked her up gently and walked her out of the trees and over to her den, setting her down gently in the tall grasses. Asira looked up in a mix of fear and wonder. In the light, the beast wasn't that scary. It resembled that of a huge cat with deer antlers growing from between it's rounded ears, and in it's tail held a ball of light. The cat smiled at her and came to lay beside her, smiling. Slowly it laid its massive head down and watched her. Asira slowly became used to the cat and laid her head on his paw, falling asleep from the exhaustion.
