I get all my ideas when I am lying in bed doing nothing in particular; my mind wanders, and before I know it I have a rough plot. ^.^

For me, most of my ideas actually appear at the most unhelpful of times - aka, during class. In fact, biology and chemistry seem to be the best time for these ideas to pop into my mind, and me, being very ADD, well, i have to write down whatever it is that's burst into my head in the middle of class - otherwise i have no hope of listening I wish i could get ideas before i go to bed/listening to music - the only time that really happens is if it's classical music or the story ideas are more music videos that really don't pertain to my story XD

Oh yes.... I always brainstorm the MOMENT I have no feasible access to paper.... :3 Most of my ideas come fom dreams, though I get some pretty weird dreams that I don't use.

Hah when i have the "moment" its all i can think about until i write it down ¬.¬ (it's why i keep a notebook with me most of the time )

I so wish I had dreams about my stories... I think it would be so awesome!! Though, one of mine was originally from a dream (that actually has nothing pertaining to the story as it is now though XD) and it's where i got all the names from... But I guess i daydream alot, does that count? ^_^ (man, i sound like an airhead now..)

whenever I mow our lawn I tend to get inspired and think out all my plot lines/back stories... one of my current books was inspired from a dream I had. several parts of the book that I am currently working on were inspired from one of my more /insane/ dreams... My head is such a mess X3

My ideas come to me out of no where. I haven't had a good, new one for about a year, but I brought back some old ideas that were kicked farther back in the closet that is my brain.
Although, I hate, hate, hate, hate writing more than one book at a time. That's probably my worst problem, because I have writer's block (I think) in the book I'm writing, and I have so many ideas for the two ones I want to write! Ugh.

I agree with that!! I have all these ideas for stories etc, but i can only focus on one. Even though i have two going, it's more that i'll focus on one and obsess with it for a while, then switch to the other for a while. For the longest time one of them was on a permanent hiatus cause a friend of mine screwed me over X3 and then my characters stopped talking to me and i was left sorta hanging...
Though also my ideas usually pertain to the stories i;m working on - such as something that happens, a major plot development, or even just a small silly scene that seems just so darn awesome

If you have ideas for the ones you wanna write - perhaps you should work on them for a while? It gives your mind a chance to think about what you wanna write next X3

Question for you guys though - do you write in order, or in bits and pieces and then join them up? I've tried both ways (different way for each story) and i've found that the one i've written in order, i have a lot more actually written down (say, easily 70-80 pages) but the one that is in bits and pieces i have more of the story/plot thought out and in wayy more detail...

I have to ramble on about an idea I had so her goes nothing:
In a past set world, a girl named Akito is growing up as a normal girl in a normal family. However, her parents don't like her because she is blind and think she is worthless. WHen news of a prophecy reaches their lands, everyone thinks the person in the prophecy is her brother, Matheorn. However, she is the first of seven children who need to band together to save the world as they know it. In this, they all have some sort of physical or mental complication (Deaf, blind, scizoprenia ect) but together each person can work as the part another person doesn't have.

My ideas......well its complicated. The come from a varity of places that i mesh into a story. I get them from songs, a few tv shows, a slight bit how i want my life to kinda play out and my characters usally come from my own life and the people that i love more than anything and who i want to be my heros and such. But once i have a good plot I usally stick to it for a while in a few stories. I mean stick to the same background but differnet ideas and stories and i guess plots............its like reality tv...one good show about a a family with a million people and they think its ok to make eight more

That sound's like a great story line, if you play it out right. I would definitely stick to their disability. Also, don't give them powers. That would just blow up the part about them being different.

I was thinking about it. I don't really know how to start, though.
I'll just throw that other one out here. The first one was around when I first joined. The one with the photo album.
So for my other idea. This idea was thought of last year when I was reading "The Boy in the Striped Pajamas" (i think).

So there's this little Jewish girl who has lived with a German family since she was a few months old. Her birth family had been taken away to a concentration camp, but the baby was hidden and not taken.
So this little girl and boy, about nine and thirteen, respectively, are exploring the little town they live in. They see the abandoned house and want to go in it, because that's what curious kids do.
They find the little baby and take her home, luckily without getting noticed by the Nazis..
So this is her German family.
The family she lives with is a good family. They protect her. That's about when the prologue would end.
So the girl is about five here and she doesn't know that she is a Jew. She doesn't even know she was adopted. She just knows she looks different.
The older brother that had found her is becoming influenced by Hitler's speeches. He wants to become a soldier. (he's about 18)

Later on in the story the little girl is taken to a concentration camp.
Either before that or after, the brother becomes a soldier, but instead of fighting in the war, he has to work at a concentration camp.
So his little sister is in that concentration camp, and he understands how awful hitler is. He starts changing the other soldiers minds about Jews. One tries to shoot him. Another helps him. He has a hard time, but eventually he helps most of the Jews escape.

((I might completely change it. I dunno)
