How to make a sigbox

I'm having trouble with this... whenever I go to do the "paste as new image" step, a little Gimp message pops up saying...

"There is no image data in the clipboard to paste."

Do you make sure you copy the image first and then paste as new image?

I just got my own sigbox finished (and needed less time to do it than I first thought!! ) and then I noticed there is a thread how to do them. LoL. I did it without any help, it was self-explanatory for me. xD
But I think I have done it similarly to the explanations. Thank you for confirming me in what I did. ^_^
