PROLOUGE
----- I'm only telling you what you need to know. Why know more than you should? It only hurts you, and the others you love. Why couldn't my life be normal, or even a little close to it? I guess you're wondering what I'm rambling on about. I'm only telling you some things, others are meant to be found...
----- My name is Lane, and I'm a 16 year old girl, and a sophmpore. I have short cropped brown hair, usually wearing my favorite black head band with the small little flower on the side. I'm kinda short, 5 foot, and I have dark blue eyes. I go to Tarry Hills East, which is named after the founder of the school, Tarry Hills. Just another normal girl, in another normal school. Nothing special. I just blend right in. Well, that's what I thought...
CHAPTER ONE
----- BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP
-----I reach over to my alarm clock and fumble around for the OFF. I get frusterated, and just start whacking the thing. It shuts off, and I open my eyes.
----- My white curtains with little bubbles on them have a gap in the middle, but it doens't matter. The sun isn't up anyway. I look over at my clock. 6:10 a.m. it says in its big blue numbers. I blink my eyes a couple of times, and sit up. I strech out my arms, then slide out of my blue themed bed. When my feet touch the carpet, I realize that it's Monday, and I groan. I always hate Mondays. Just usually the most boring day of the week. I dig my toes around im the carpet, then pick out my outfit for the day. After I brush my hair, put on my clothes, I put some eyeliner and mascara on, then check the clock again. 6:40 I head out of my room and into the kitchen, which is almost right outside my room. My mom already left for work, and left me a banana. I eat it, then fix myself a bowl of cereal. As I'm crunching, my phone buzzes. It's a text from my best friend, Brianna.
Brianna: u need a ride
Me: I''m taking the bus.
Brianna: okay, meet u there
----- I set my phone down, finish my cereal, then put my shoes on. I sling my red and white checkered backpack over my right shoulder, grab my phone and shove it in the back pocket of my jeans, then make my way down my street, passing all my adult neighbors, their houses still dark. I make my way to the bus stop, and see Brianna standing there, among the other five people that get on here. Her long straight blonde hair tucked in her hat, and her bright green eyes visible above her scarf. She's really pretty, but she seems like she could care less about how she looks. She always wear baggy T-shirts, and jeans, with her favorite tennis shoes. She looks up at me, and pulls down her scarf, then smiled at me. When I walked over to her, I also pulled down my scarf so I could talk.
----- "Hey! Have you heard the latest thing on Hannah and Bryce?" she said.
----- Hannah and Bryce are the school's "star couple" and they pretty much rule over the students, starting the latest fashion trends.
----- Hannah is the Head Cheerleader, and about the most popular and pretty girl and school. She's not like most popular girls, she's actually nice, and is really sweet and caring.
----- Bryce is the President of the STUCO, and the star quarterback of the football team. He's really nice too.
----- I respond, "No, is there any?"
----- "Well, duh! Yes! So, over winter break, I heard a rumor that Hannah was going to have to move!"
----- "Nuh uh! Serious? Bryce will be heartbroken!"
----- "I know!" She stays quiet, then the rumbling of the bus is audible, and then it comes into sight. It stops, and then opens the doors. I get on last, an sit in our usual spot, the seat right infront of the farest back seat on the right. I sit by the isle, because Brianna gets really mostion sick.
----- As soon as we're at Hills, we load off, and I take Brianna to the table we usually sit at before school starts. Jackie, our other friend comes over and greets us.
----- She has extreme curly red hair, and it's always frizzy, but her face makes up for it. All her features are sharp, and polished. Her amber eyes peek out from under her hat, and she has the longest and curliest eyelashes ever, and she never wears makeup. She's just naturally beautiful I think. She always wears cuute little blouses, and funny graphic tees. She wears skinny jeans, and high heels. She has a boyfriend, and his name is Brandon. He's kinda nerdy, but really sweet and nice. Not that I like him or anything!
----- She sits down, and a piece of hair flies loose, and floats around in the harsh cold wind.
----- "Hey guys!" she says, and right then, Brandon comes up behind her and hugs her around the waist. Brandon has black hair, and bright bllue eyes. He has about no muscles at all, but his face is sweet.
----- "Hey babe!" he says to Jackie, then sits down by her. He waves to us. "Hey Bree, Hey Lanie!" I smile and say hey back to him. He's like a part of our group now, so he usually hangs out with us all the time.
----- The bell rings, and I go to my homeroom, to begin another day of school.
----- The teachers all acted weird today... It's like they knew a secret that they didn't want to tell. They avioded questions about why they were so skiddish, and barely talked.
----- I shrugged it off, and when I got off the bus, my mom's car was home.
----- I opened the front door, and my mom was sitting down at her computer, working. See, she's a vet, and she works every day from about eight in the morning until about four in the afternoon. Today she had to go in early to take care of this really sick dog, Maddie. She has cancer, and she's not doing so good. I've met her before, and she's really nice.
----- I love going to my mom's work because I love animals. I love helping her save lives and make the owners and pets live happier. My mom looked at me, and she looked really tired today. So I said hey, and went off in my room to do my homework.
----- Tonight, at dinner, we were eating at the table, and we have a little TV by it, so we can watch the news. A report came on about how soomeone had died, and there wwere no suspects, no marks, nothing on the body. They couldn't figure out what went wrong. Not a heart attack, or seizure, or anything else. When my mom came in and sat down, she looked at the TV, and kinda looked scared. She turned it off, and said we weren't going to watch any TV tonight. Which was weird, because we always watch the news, and talk about things like that.
----- As soon as I had finished my homework, it was about 11:30, So since my mom had already went to bed, I went to the fridge to get a glass of milk. It always helps me sleep. I saw a white piece of paper sticking out of the trash. I picked it up, seeing it was the newspaper, sipping on my milk. It was about that dude on the news, still trying to figure it out. They had found 27 more bodies just like that since then, from all over the world. I thought that was kinda scary, but I put it back in the trash, and drank the rest of my milk. I climbed into bed, my dreams tainted with death and murder.
----- I'm only telling you what you need to know. Why know more than you should? It only hurts you, and the others you love. Why couldn't my life be normal, or even a little close to it? I guess you're wondering what I'm rambling on about. I'm only telling you some things, others are meant to be found...
