Name:Rubicunda Pluma, Rubi for short (Latin for Red Feather)
Story:Trotting over the open plainland, I felt my body caressed by gentle waves of warm wind. I felt the sand in my hooves, kicking it up as I trotted through the course shrubbery, the little bugs and lizards squirming away as I trotted past them.
I saw my herd, the handsome young males trotting around, competing for attention from a few of my friends. I found myself smiling, some of these guys were so cheesy.
I watched them jump over the same log, seeing who would leap the highest or run the fastest, who could make their tail the brightest or the biggest, shoot the biggest fire ball, breath the most breath.
I laughed as one held in his breath, his face turning red as his tail grew larger. A few seconds later he fell into the sand, gasping dramatically as his tail returned to it's normal size.
Smiling, I trotted over to my friends, turning to watch the boys with their hilarious games.
I laughed as one went rolling in the dust, unable to stick the landing.
A very handsome Docksen, dark red with black hooves, approached me. His eyebrows bounced up and down as he got a full view of me.
I frowned slightly, eager to see what moves this one would pull out.
"Why, hello there." he said
"What's up?" I asked casually, not really looking at him.
"And what's your name?"
"Rubi." I responded. Truth be told, my name was Rubicunda Pluma, but after a long time of docksens trying to resay the name, I'd given up and just said my name was Rubi.
"That's a beautiful name, for a beautiful Docksen just like yourself."
"Thanks." I said, watching a male impressively leap over a log.
My friend, Sal, slid up beside me, practically on top of this male. "Hello..." she said seductively, winking at him.
I watched him blush under her gaze. They were perfect for each other, I though sarcastically.
I moved away as this male's gaze was captivated by Sal. I didn't care about mates. I wanted adventure! To feel the elements across my back, not just the sand. To see mountains with snow covered peaks! To-...
What was that?
I looked up, seeing them come down upon me. Rearing out of fear, I screamed, "Run!!!" bucking my feet at the Skyeloric Docksen above me.
My whole pelt was on end, the lamp at the end of my tail was burning brightly out of fear.
Who were these creatures? I'd heard of flying Docksens before, but I had never seen one. Especially not one with some freaky front faced two leg on it's back, riding it like a mule.
I screamed, feeling unnatural wind slid across my back, I saw a docksen above me. I could see some sort of black woven thing, it shone against the sun and I knew this wasn't something I want to mess with. I felt something barrel against me and I was thrown to the side, a docksen desperately trying to get away was caught in the net instead of me.
The net weighed it down, catching itself in her frantically moving hooves as she tangled herself up in it, falling to the ground and screaming in fear.
I pulled myself up from the ground, tearing my eyes away from the unnatural horror. I'd never heard about anything like this before. Never before had out kind been hunted down in our own lands! Now these, things, were stealing us away like we were animals!
I felt something touch my back.
It was cold, iced over almost, I screamed at the unnatural touch as it entangled itself in me. I bucked and screamed, and whinnied, but it wrapped itself around me harder in my fury.
I watched a Skyeloric docksen land in front of me as my herd members leapt over my immobilized body, I strained my neck, nostrils flaring, as I desperately tore away.
He was handsome, for a winged coward. A tannish red with white spots on his flanks, white legs with a white chest and a white muzzle. His wings were white tipped too, but his eyes...
Beautiful eyes, but full of sorrow. I suddenly realized that it was possible that this wasn't a partnership.
I was going to be enslaved to these creatures.
I struggled and bit more, this was not the adventure I'd wanted to have.
I closed my mouth around a piece of cold metal, watching a two leg back up as I dented his unnatural armor. I felt something sharp penetrate me, looking to see a small feathered dart embedded in my shoulder, I looked up at my beautiful sun, before my eyes closed of some unforseen will.
I woke up, my head spinning and twirling. Standing up from the straw of the stall, I realized something. I was tied to the wall.
The stall was cramped ridiculously tight, a piece of chain holding me in place with shackles on my hooves. I noticed a bag over my tail, keeping the lamp confined.
I attempted to buck, the shackles keeping me down in a vain attempt. I whinnied out of frustration. Frowning, my nostrils blaring, it was the first time I got a good look at those two legs.
One was in odd pelts, obviously not his own, and he walked over to my stall. Fur was on his face, coating his mouth, wild and unkept in comparison to the top of his head, which was neat and trim.
I snarled at him, he smiled evily, waving his hands over and calling something in his own language.
Two suits of armor, probably inhabited by two legs, made their way over to my stall, I vainly bucked again. They opened the door, drawing sharp objects, and pulled a warm chain over my head.
The warmth calmed me down slightly, I wasn't expecting it. Fury still raged in me, of course, and I fought against their touch.
Fuz-face snapped something around the warm thing on my face, while the two suits unstrapped my legs.
Finally!
I rushed forward, on to feel my body penetrated again. I looked down to see blood, my blood, and a sword extracting itself from my flank.
My leg feel underneath me, the numbing pain that had been applied to the sword was startling.
They dragged me outside, hooking me up to a contraption just as I began to regain feeling. I moved my leg up and down, observing my surroundings.
Forest. Lots of Forest too. Nothing but forest. Trees, and more green then I'd ever seen. Even when I looked straight into a shrub I never saw as much green as I did now. I looked at the contraption I was hooked up to. Iron bars held me in place, a circular fence giving off an unnatural chill that I found infuriating. I couldn't see anything past that.
Men on Nymthic docksens stood guard, their legs dancing underneath them as some gave me sad looks.
I recognized a few in my herd, actually, all the ones there were from my herd.
Someone snapped a whip. The cold chill brought me more rage, I bucked forward, angry at my predicament and the cold.
I was driven in a circle for hours, as soon as I'd slow down, they'd crack that whip again, spraying us all with cold and driving us angry again until each was about to fall on our faces.
As they lead me back to my stall, I didn't fight as they shut the door, but fell to the ground exhausted.
It was a month before we started dying off.
Sal was the first to go, she'd never been one for hard stuff. From what I could tell, every member of our herd had been captured. Every day, I saw the armored guards dragging off another body, sometimes two.
They were killing us off. I had never even met any other Docksen herds and they were killing us off one by one.
2 weeks later, my herd, which had been about 200, had been drastically reduced to 98.
I was about at my core, as they loaded me up in that dreaded machine, the whip sounded and I struggled to get my feet moving. I felt it slap me across the back and my jaws opened with exhaustion.
Then, chaos.
She was beautiful, the dark green wolf that bounded over the gates, roaring a battle cry. She threw a dagger, it implanted itself into the chest of a guard, the Skyeloric docksen flew free, no longer bound by the dead weight on it's back.
I could barely lift me head, much less follow the green one. It wasn't long before a black wolf with long feathered wings flew over the gate, followed by a beautiful light teal wolf. It was a whole pack, well, it looked like it.
Then a dragon followed suit.
She was beautiful teal, with scales that shown happily. She let loose her flames over us Docksen, we releshed in the sweet sweet fire as it burned the bags over our tails, leaving us. She moved away, lighting the barn as guards and stable hands rushed in a mad frenzy.
The light green lion that pounced nimbly over the gate made it's way towards us, roaring as his claws sliced through the metal like it was paper. I felt myself freed as his claws broke my bondage.
My friends ran, desperately seeking a way out. But something held me back. I watched these animals operate, watched them fight my enemies, watching them free what was left of my herd.
I watched the rest of the guards scatter as the dragoness let loose her flame, I merely stood there, watching.
The green wolf sheathed her sword, smiling. "Good job Warriors!" she said happily, as the rest of the docksens fled from the scene.
"Why aren't you leaving?" a light blue wolf asked me, with a whip at her waist.
I opened my mouth but found no words as the blue wolf skipped around me. "Are you injured?" she asked.
I shook my head no, and the green wolf frowned at me slightly.
"What's wrong then? You're free now. Nothing waiting, nothing's going to harm you." she insisted. "You can leave, go back home."
"T-That's just it." I said, finding my voice. "I don't want to go back home."
They frowned at me and I asked them a question. "Why did you save us?"
"We're the Warriors of the Moon. That's our job." the green one said. "We travel all over the land, helping those in need. We got tipped off a week ago that some humans were keeping Fyrinic Docksen as their mules and with you guys being as rare as you are, we intervened."
I nodded, understanding her words.
"Where will you go?" the dragoness asked me.
I found my hooves. "May I come with you?"
The green one smiled. "What can you do?"
"I can fight!" I insisted. The idea of going home to be fawned over by males wasn't one I was looking forward to. "I can breath fire, and shoot it from my tail!"
The green wolf chuckled, "What's your name."
"Rubicunda Pluma." I said, giving them my full name for some reason. The green one smiled again.
"Well, I guess I'm not the only one with a long name after all. My name's Notichimtoki. My friends call me Toki though."
"You can call me Rubi." I said.
Toki nodded at me, her smile friendly. "This is my husband, Sebastian." she said, nodding to the black wolf with large wings. "That's Corili and Latikana." the blue and light green wolves smiled at me.
"And the dragon is Iradessa." she said.
I smiled. "I'm not very good at fighting, but please. Let me come with you." I begged.
"We could have plenty of things for you to do, and Iradessa can always help you with your fighting." Corili said, smiling at me.
I smiled back, grinning through my fatigue.
"Well, I suppose it never hurt to have another Warrior around." Toki said, smiling. "Sure. Welcome to the Warriors of the Moon, Rubi."
The Warriors belong to ME. They are mine.
