Can my story be 2.5 pages long? I have one that length, but cannot shorten it.
You have just met one of the craziest people on the planet. Just beware....I am a book worm, music nerd, and Jesus freak. :-D

So, what's gonna happen with this now?

PathEast, will you comment on the stories or will you call this off since there aren't that many entries?
Just curious.

The Snow

As I stared out the window I sighed. Another whiteless winter. No snow. Only rain. The winds were battering the side of the house like a monster was trying to get in. I pressed my cold face up to the window and watched as our bin was thrown down the street. I laughed quietly when it landed, upside down in the horrible neighboors garden. My warm breath clung onto the window and caused a foggy patch on the window. I drew a sad face in the fog. "Come dear, away from the window". My mum turned me around and looked at me. I told her that the bin ran down the street to the horrible nieghboors. She shook her head and walked back to the hallway. She said she was going to find the bin and tie it to our house! I watched her as she stepped outside. Into the howling rage of the winds.

Five minutes after she left i noticed that the room was lighter. I turned my head to the window. It was snowing! I jumped up and ran to the window. I gazed outside in awe as the white dust fell from the sky and landed gracefully on the muddy ground. Each snowflake flying past the window was individual and unique. It was as if the sky had decided to repaint the earth and start with a white canvas. It was magical. I got that tingley feeling when something is nice and relaxing. I rested my head in my hands as i watched the snow fall deeper and thicker. It was ten miutes until i realised that the snow had come right up to the window. I leaped back from the window and gasped. What should I do? But where was mum? She had been gone for fifteen minutes now! I started to panic as i realised that the winds had picked up again. The snow falling gracefully had suddenly turned to a snow blizzard. The wind whipping the snow around the house. I grabbed my hat, scarf and coat. I pulled on my welly boots and ran out the door. The snowey storm was impossible to see through. The wind grabbing my coat. Pulling me and pushing me. I had one hand on my hat, one on my coat. "Mum?" I called out into the ever white landscape. No reply. I shouted it. Worry and fear twisting my voice into a high pitched plea. Suddenly a sound caught my ears. It was a whimper. I raced towards the sound but my feet sunk into the incredibly deep pool of snow beneath me. I strainned my eyes to peer through the snowy wall that the wind created. As I got nearer the sound i realised that it was not a human sound. I got close enough to see a dog shape. "Hello?" I asked, cautious that it may bite. Instead, it ran up to me and licked my hands. It was a husky. A lanky, skinny, underfed husky. He looked up to me with love and trust in his eyes. I knelt down and asked him if he had see mum. I knew he couldnt really understand me but it was my only hope. He barked and started walking. He turned back and barked at me. "You want me to follow?" I asked over the loud wailing of the wind around us. He barked agian. I trudged throught the deep snow up to him. Then he would walk and wait. I would trudge up beside him. All the while the wind shook my legs and battered my body. I could swear that it was getting stronger. Finally he stopped and started to dig.

I ran up to him and helped him. Using my cold, blue hands I scraped away the snow. Underneath, was mum. She was alive, but very cold. "Oh mum, we found you!" I cried with happiness and joy. She was shaking with the cold and her hands were blue. I looked down to the husky and asked him where was home. He barked and led us in the right direction. I trusted him to take us home. He had found my mum. I took off my coat and put it over mums shoulders. I knew it wouldnt help much but it was better than nothing. As the dark shape of our house came into view I smiled. We rushed in and got mum beside the fire. The husky followed us in and lay at mums feet. I made her cups of tea and covered her in blankets. I sat beside her and told her my adventure. At the end we both looked down at the husky. "We should name him Lucky, he saved me and guided us home" mum said to me. My face lit up. " you mean we can keep him!" I asked with happiness filling me. Mum nodded.

Three years later and we still sit by the fire and talk about the day when the snow came. Lucky is older now. He still sits beside mum and keeps her company. He still finds things for us.
