PFAC: Paws For A Cause ~ Hoarding for Euthanized Cats

Welcome to Paws for a Cause!

As you may or may not know, I've had a cat hoard for over a year now. On November 27th, 2011, however, I decided to change my goal. You may think I'm crazy, but I'd like to collect a cat for every cat euthanized each year in the United States.

Each year in the United States, 3-4 million cats and dogs are euthanized because they are sick, old, or unwanted. If you are unaware of what euthanization is, it is basically the process of killing an animal humanely, usually by injection. I am trying to collect at least 2 million cats to show just how many are euthanized each year. I've always been a bit of a "crazy cat lady," and I'd like to show just how many cats lose their lives each year due to being unwanted. It may seem trivial to you, but it means a lot to me.

Here I will post how many kitties I have, and how many are left until I meet my goal. Posts are always welcome.
I'd also like to thank all the people who have helped me, even before this hoard had a purpose; even when it was just a silly collection of cats. I appreciate all the help, and I truly hope I can make it, no matter how long it takes. And even if I don't make it, at least I tried. Thank you for reading! ♥

I Walk Alone...

The streets are dark, the night is cold.
There’s love out there, that‘s what I‘m told.
My mom told stories, long ago,
Of joy and of happy homes, but, lo…
I walk alone.

The morning comes, cold and damp.
The wind, it stings, the night was rough.
I walk down the path and spot the road.
I make my way, oh if I had known…
I walk alone.

I’m almost there, the other side’s in sight…
But, no! what is that light?
Before I know, before I can see,
I feel a pain, a weight on me, and, lo…
I walk alone.

In through the doors, the lights are bright.
I hurt, how I wish to give up the fight.
They take care of me, days go by.
I feel better, I feel I could fly! But still…
I walk alone.

It’s been two years, and I’ve grown older.
And oh, the world, it’s grown much colder.
They pick me up, I feel a hope.
Is it my turn? But, lo…
I walk alone.

They take me away, set me on a table.
I try to escape, but am unable.
I feel it now, the cold, dark fear.
I know what’s happening, I know what’s near…
I walk alone.

The needle, it enters. I feel the pain.
I start to drift. Away….away…
Before I knew it, before I could see,
The room had turned dark all around me…
I walk alone.

My life is over, I am high above.
My whole life’s wish was a little love.
I never had a chance, I never had a hope.
I wish the world was different, but as I look down…
I see it is still cold, and, lo…
I am no longer alone.
