I haven't really been in an arty mood come of late, I haven't even visited here in a while(In that I mean posted.) Though I always love to see the art you guys post, even if I don't say anything about it. I'm a lurker after all. And Alex, love your people skills. When I get the money I'd hope to commission you sometime. I just think I need to practice them more traditionally to get the feel, and then try to translate it digitally. Sucks that my tablet pen doesn't work in photoshop since it got put in the laundry.

Susiron, love your creation, more so how the 'wolf' like legs are relaxed under his chest for the most part; just chilling there.

Working on designing a new character. His name is Finn, and he's a clydesdale mix.
Image
This is still very much a wip [I just scribbled in some color] but I'd love some tips on the anatomy. I love drawing draft horses but I'm a bit rusty when it comes to their anatomy. Especially their faces, though I think I did pretty well this time. ^^
Also, I really like just sketching and then coloring it in, but I'm not really sure if it takes away from the picture at all. I like the effect and it's hard to keep a lot of the little details when you line it, but does it look lazy to you? As far as styles go I'm still trying to find one that works for me.

---

Susiron; I love that character. It's nice to see a "mutant" character that's not neon colored or completely unbeleivable. x3
Wish I could critique, but I'm having trouble picking anything out.

Notme; Do you mind if i redline? ^^
Also, what breed is he?

Autumn; That narwhal is absolutely adorable. <3

Orange; Cats always look so cute when they steal our sheets. xD
I'd love to critique, but unfortunately I agree with Nex. The drawing is adorable, but it's a little hard to make out parts of it.

Nebulas: Your character looks really pretty. ^^
My only shading advice is to pick a light source [preferably not directly in front of the character] and stick with it. Having a consistent light source is really important, especially in pictures with a lot of action/multiple characters. Also, use a couple different shades with different hues for the skin. Otherwise it can look very dull. [people usually have at least a little pink on their cheeks, for example]

Atomic blue; We do that every once in a while in art class. It frustrates the hell out of me, but it's definitely a very helpful exercise. It helps you get a lot of practice in a very short amount of time. And I draw reallly slowly and get caught up in details, so it forces me out of that habit.

Katter; Ooh, very nice.
I'm not too great at humans, but I think you need to do a little more work with proportions. The individual parts of the face look great [I really love the hair and the eyes x3] but they may need to be re arranged and resized a little. Look at yourself in the mirror to get a good idea of this. everyone's face is different, but it helps to get a really good look at how things go together on your face.
Also, it might help to make the cheeks, chin, and forehead be a little more defined. it adds more depth and shape to the face.
Your character is really pretty, and I'm very jealous of your human skills. x3

Alex; I really love how you do faces. o.o

the eye seems a bit too high up, but other then that I see you going in the right direction for horse anatomy :3

This is the first time i've drawn any of these. I've done horses before, but never with that much detail...
The first is a 'Fairy', and the other is another mythical creature called a 'Nightmare'.
They were all done using a tutorial book i got for christmas(but i kinda skipped out on the shading for them)
What do you guys think of these?(NO red-lines please)

EDIT: Oh! and i know the face on the fairy is sorta messed up. I stink at drawing humanoid things!

And this, i just did it yesterday(i think)

(sorry they're so light, i used the scanner, but my sketch book is a little too long, so i blame it on that lolz)

@wibeke: I love the Clydesdale! It looks really great to me : )

I love that to pieces, I wants your skills D: .

I really can not pick at anything on this piece, to me its just lovely and hopefully someday I can draw like that c: .
I do like the sketchyness of it, it does seem to add the little details like you said. The coloring seems nice, its smooth and beautiful. I quite like this style, keep it! c:

can I steal your abilitys? o.o

wibeke: I really do like the sketch style, and if it helps you get an idea of the character quicker I would say practice that one a bit more. I don't think it ruins it. Sometimes I prefer my art with a light sketch layer. I can tell its a draft mix, love the way you did the round top of the snout. They're very stout horses, but I love them for that. I think you basically show that in his mix. I think it has a paint/sketch like style. Which like I've said before I'm found of. Sorry for rambling about it. As far as anatomy, I'm not too keen on horses but I don't see anything that pops out of place to me.

@ wibeke ; o_o that is one amazing horse. <3

@ Kattar the Barbarian ; I'm not an expertise on human facial structure, but based on what I've learned, explored, and have been informed about in real life, I may be able to help. lol .
Her right eye is amazing. The only thing I see with the left is the corner is a bit pinched ^^; Towards the end it should be a bit more rounded :D ( where the eye peaks, try rounding it out more instead of a straight-ish line ). Her arch of her eyebrow on the left eye is too high at the end. The best way to figure out an arch is this picture that I use to do my eyebrows ^^ I think her nose is faced a bit too far to the side for the way you've positioned her eyes and mouth. And I agree with wibeke, little more work with proportions ^^; and making the cheeks more defined, along with the chin and forehead. I think I see shading? A bit maybe? Shading with a pencil is kinda complex ( if you ask me XD ). Adding shading may also help define those areas and add the 3D effect, such as on the forehead and cheek bones ^^ Don't want half 2D and half 3D xP The lips, hair, and shoulders are great! Might I add she's a lovely character & her hair is freakin' phenomenal !? :DD

( don't shoot me if anything is off a bit, x3 this is just from what I've been told by professions :D )

Also; would anyone be willing to redline or critique this dog/wolf anatomy drawing I've done ? O: PM me if so, <333 thanks!
