Jake looked up from his nap when he heard a human yelp, coming from the husky pen. Someone has been bitten. was his thought as he settled back down to look at the pens near and far from his. Cocker spaniels and huskies and collies and all sort of breed. And the there was the mutt pen, or the outcast pen. The pen he was in. He settled his head on his paws and closed his eyes tightly. All he wanted was a owner, but few people came to look at the mutts. Jake's memory of his mum was fuzzy, but he disliked her. If only she had loved a dog of her own breed... was the thought that invaded Jake's mind every day. He knew that the human's usually chose who a dog's mate would be, but some dogs managed to sneak out of their pens to meet with the dog they really loved, even if the dog was from a different breed. Jake cleared his mind of these displeasing thoughts and went back to sleep, ignoring the sounds of the king's people.
