I'm sorry for making you cry. Now can we change the subject? Anyone have anything to talk about? If not, I have a topic. I'll mention it in another post if no one else has anything.

Please share it, I'd like something new to talk about. I get bored of repeating myself on these sorts of topics because the same issues keep rearing their ugly heads.

Alright.
First, some background information so my question makes sense.
The wolf reintroduction project at Yellowstone is the main topic of this question. The wolves that were put there, or "reintroduced" were never actually a species that lived there before. They were Canadian Grey Wolves, a stronger subspecies than what was there before. This means they have more endurance, and are able to chase animals for far longer than the prey animals are used to.
What do you guys think about that project being named a reintroduction project when the wolves introduced into the park were technically an invasive species?

I'd never looked into which wolves lived in Yellowstone, and which were reintroduced. That information is quite startling, because the prey animals who were previously adapted to one base hunter have been introduced to another, stronger relative. I doubt they had any time to adapt to these wolves who were introduced, which as my guess would lead to easier kills. As wolves, they still most likely would have targeted the weak or young, but then and again wolves are considered optimistic predators. If given the chance, they would take down a healthy adult if presented the chance. If they realized these animals were not at all prepared for the stronger relative of whatever lived there before, it could very well mean that these Canadian Grey Wolves impacted the populations of small and large prey animals greatly.
Then and again, I've never really studied the wolves of Yellowstone, so this wild guess and assumption could be very...very off. But my main opinion is they shouldn't call it a reintroduction project when this subspecies is obviously not what lived there before. I will be looking into this topic in my spare time now, for it seems rather interesting.
Fairwell Chickensmoothie! It was a good run.
If there is anyone who I unfortunately left any loose ends open with when I originally disappeared from the site near the end of 2012, you're welcome to drop a PM if you'd like to try to resolve them. It has admittedly been far too many years for me to remember precisely what all may have been left unsettled.
In addition, if anyone sees this and would like to try to reestablish contact, you're more than welcome to drop me a message as well. I'll try to poke my head in over the next few months at the least in case any of the above happens, but cannot guarantee how often messages will be checked after that.
Best Regards,
HOWLING

Hm, I can't say that I ever knew that the wolves that were released into Yellowstone were not the actual wolves that lived there before. Perhaps the people who introduced the smaller wolves (perhaps these are North American greys?) did so because people didn't want the larger Canadian greys back?
I would prefer it if the species that was there previously was there now. But still, the wolves that are currently in Yellowstone have done a good job in balancing out Yellowstone.
