"Leo."
I groaned a bit as a voice cut into my dreams, forcing me back into reality. Struggling to open my eyes, I saw the blurry form od Drake's face leaning over mine, swinging back and forth like a pendulum as I struggled to regain consciousness. Raising my head from beneath the furs, I winced as a sharp jet of icy wind lashed against my skin and hurriedly yanked the furs up around my face.
"We're here, Leo. Come on, I've already moved your bags inside." Yanking the protective furs out of my grasp, he seized me by the shoulder and pulled me into a sitting position. I felt goosebumps erupting upon my neck and arms, and they weren't just from the cold.
Slowly shuffling my way to the door, I expected to see a plethora of young children sprawled within the hallway the moment he opened it for me, so I was a bit shocked when a dark, empty silence greeted me. "You live alone?" I asked, stepping over the threshold and kicking the snow from my shoes.
"Always have," Drake replied. "Haven't met the right girl yet. Don't think I ever will, you know what this place is like. Everyone's all friendly like, but there's no passion in the community. No curiosity, no thirst for life. I sometimes wonder why I even stay here." I could feel my heart thumping as he said these words- he was more within my reach than I'd ever dreamed of him being. Shrugging off my coat, I hung it upon the rack before following Drake into the kitchen, where I could see a pot of soup bubbling on the stove. Going over to the sink, I gave my hand a quick rinse and a squirt of soap, before immediately going to the fridge, taking out some parsley and chopping it as fine as I could.
"Thanks," Drake said as he took the bowl from my hands. "I always forget this." For the briefest moment our fingers met on the bowl and I felt a thrill go through my heart, before he turned back to the soup and poured the herb in. "Mind cutting the bread? You do it better than I do."
Supper was a quick meal of bread, soup and some ham that he'd picked up earlier this afternoon. We lingered at the table long after our bowls were clean, catching up on the years gone by. The words flowed freely, something that surprised us both- the night wore on, and still our verbal communion continued. A loud bang outside stopped him halfway through some story about his college years, and we were both shocked to find out it was three in the morning. As Drake had work the next morning, I offered to do the dishes, an offer that he eventually gave in to. He'd nearly reached the staircase leading to the second floor when I suddenly spoke up.
"Drake?"
"Yes?"
"I love you."
A long silence ensued, and I could feel my face turning bright red as I bent over the plate, scrubbing at it furiously. Then I felt a hand on my back.
"I love you too, Leo."
Smiling, I listened to the sound of his footsteps retreating up the stairs before turning my attention back to the plates.

Well, I guess I did get something in today. It's not as good as I would've hoped, though.
Ah well. Hopefully the next part will be better. I hope you don't mind a few deaths.

The second one needs significantly more... I need long and/or curly white hair, for one... ... and another set of the black pants. But I'm quite happy with how the first one turned out. I'll leave you with a quote from the character the first pet is based on- a prize to the first person able to guess who both pets are supposed to be!

"I am the leading man. Might need to do something heroic."

Azrael (f)***************************************************Dragan (m)

I'm here again
A thousand miles away from you
A broken mess, just scattered pieces of who I am
I tried so hard
Thought I could do this on my own
I've lost so much along the way

No one ever expects a woman to be an assassin, especially a pretty one. I suppose, looking back, that maybe it was part of why I was so effective; no one was ever expecting it. To look at me, you would not guess I could be a ruthless killer. You would be wrong. I could. I still can. I was one of the best. I never missed, I never failed…until him.

You aren’t always given a lot of information about a target. Name, address, age. You aren’t usually told what they do for a living, if they have family, sometimes you don’t even know why you are killing them; it’s just what you do. It’s something you question sometimes, but after a while, you learn that it’s better not to know. Until the day the name is someone you know, and you know they don’t deserve to die.

The life I lived was a very solitary one. I didn’t have a lot of friends, and after a while I didn’t want them. I had found that to be good at what I did, it was easier to keep everyone at a distance. It was much easier to watch the life drain out of someone if they didn’t remind you of someone you knew, someone you loved.

He had been the exception to that rule for years. He was my best friend. My shoulder to cry on, the one person who could make me laugh when all I really wanted to do was cry. He didn’t know what I did. I was so afraid that if I told him, he would hate me. So I stuck to my cover story that I worked in the IT department for a major computer firm. It was the cover story I told everyone and for all intents and purposes, it was a legitimate job. I had the education to back it up; I went to the office and reported for work daily. It was just after that point where things changed.

We had met in bar one night. He sat down quietly next to me and instead of offering to buy me a drink, he just did. It was a different approach, one that made me interested in talking to him. We ended up talking until the bar closed, and for a few hours after that in the parking lot. Our relationship had never drifted out of the friendship phase, but if I were to be honest with myself, I was in love with him.

Which is why, for the first time in my career, when his name was on the piece of paper as my target, I declined.

“I’m sorry sir, I can’t.” I said softly, handing the paper back to my supervisor. He didn’t look up from his coffee, just slid the paper back towards me.

“You can, and you will.”

“No Sir, I can’t. I won’t.” It was only then that he looked up.

“What?”

“I won’t. I can’t sir. Not this target.”

“And why is that?”

“I…he’s my best friend.” He arched an eyebrow at me then stood and walked around his desk so he was standing directly in front of me.

“You do know, that if you refuse, he will become someone else’s target.”

My eyes grew wide. The thought actually hadn’t crossed my mind until he said it. The fact that he was a target at all meant that he was marked to die, regardless of if I did it or not. I took the paper back from his desk.

“I’ll accept sir. But can I ask…why?”

“You know we never ask. Are you sure you can accept this? That you’ll follow through?”

“Have I ever failed before?”

“There is a first time for everything.”

I looked him straight in the eyes, and lied. “Not for failure. Not for me sir”

He nodded slowly and I turned away from his desk and headed down the hall. My mind was spinning and I had to take several slow, deep breaths to keep myself from vomiting in the hallway. What had I done? How was I supposed to kill my best friend?

"Krahvokunviing?" {Cold Shadow Wings?}

Two dragons lay high up at a mountain's peak, snow falling down around them. One brown, one blue.

"Geh?"{Yes?}

The brown one began scratching something into the stone mountain cliff with a claw.

ImageImageImage

"What do you think about the Old One's plan?" The brown dragon reverted to speaking the common tongue, still scratching at the ground.

ImageImageImageImage

"Hm..." The blue considered the question. "I believe that if we wish to continue living. Het. Ko Taazokaan.{Here. In Tamriel.} Then it may be the wisest plan. The World Eater acted rashly. He should have waited. Been more subtle. These are not the joore {mortals} we left behind. They are smarter, more developed. Still fools in many aspects, but not as before."

More scratching filled the silence.

ImageImageImageImageImageImage

"Sizaansilah?"{Lost Soul Hunter?} The blue craned his neck over the brown's back, reading her scratches."Fin... Viing... Fundein..."{The... wings... unfurled...}

"I think you are right." Sizaansilah answered finally.

"Why did you write this?" Krahvokunviing meant her scratches.

"I... I'm not sure. I wasn't paying attention." She stood, stretching her wings. "The snow has stopped. Shall we fly?"

He lifted his head to the sky. "To hunt?"

"Geh." {yes.}

"Together?"

"Nid."{No.}

The blue dragon turned his head to face her. "Why?"

"It will draw too much attention."

"Very well." He paused. "Ul?"{Eternity?}

"Unslaad toor. Unslaad fo." {Eternal inferno. Eternal frost.} She answered, before taking off, disappearing over the edge of the cliff as she dove towards the Northern seas.

Krahvokunviing stood at the top of the mountain, looking up at the disappearing clouds for a few minutes more, before stretching his wings and catching a wind as it blew up the mountain's side. He took to the air, roaring to the sky before diving towards the plains to the South.

Dragons who wished for peace.

Would the joore accept this?

Or once again attept to kill them off?

Seperating him from her once again.

His last thought before spotting a mammoth, and allowing his hunting insticts to take over his mind.

Two bronze Elder Dragons sit on an over hanging cliff. Below them a multitue of humans worked on creating a small settlement. Every few seconds a human would look up at them warily. One wrong move, one word taken the wrong way, and the dragons would punish them all.

"Sizaansilah. Why do we follow Alduin's rule?" The words were whispered, barely making any noise at all. The second dragon shifted position slightly in surprise.

"Quiet, Feyndojun." Was the second's hissed reply, not shifting her gaze from the workers below. "You would be wise not to question the World Eater."

"That does not answer my que-" He broke off as a blue Frost Dragon landed on their cliff.

"You have been called, Feyndojun, by the Old One." The two stronger dragons considered the new arrival. They knew him, Krahvokunviing. He acted as a messenger mostly, taking orders from Alduin, the World Eater, and Paarthurnax, the Old One, to those they were too 'busy' to speak to themselves.

"Very well." He swung his head towards his companion. "Ul?" He offered, almost seeming hopeful.

Sizaansilah considered him with mild intrest before flicking her tail dismissively. "You were called, were you not?"

He took off from the edge, his head drooping slightly.

All though this the Frost Dragon had been watching her rejection of him, his head slightly to the side, considering her closely. She narrowed her eyes. "Hind wah nir?" He waited as she thought.

"Geh." She answered finally, opening her wings. What did this... This underling want? That was the only explination for him wishing to hunt with her, was it not? He wanted something.

The blue dragon practicly stepped off the edge of the cliff, allowing his wings to catch him before he crashed. Much different from the flight of the higher ranks, performing fancy dives at the joore below simply to hear their screams of pure terror. She took off much as Feyndojun had moments before, using pure wing strength to lift herself off the cliff. Somewhere in her mind she knew the Dovah's treatment of the joore was wrong, but even as strong as she was, she was no match for many of the dragons who thought as Alduin did. Her mind wandered back to the question asked earlier. Fear. That was the answer, Feyndojun, and his greatest weapon. Many followed his rule out of fear of punishment, nothing else. She blinked back as the messenger ahead of her turned away from the more common hunting grounds, heading to a lone peak in the plains. What was he planning?

"Sapphire, poppet! You're missing the Christmas Eve parade!"
Sapphire scowled to herself and bundled further beneath her duvet. She didn't want to go and see the Christmas Parade - every year, it was the same. A wheezing platform, carrying a man with a cushion stuffed beneath a cheap red dressing gown, pulled along by a spluttering car that looked as though it was about to puff its last cloud of toxic fumes.

"I don't care." She muttered to herself, as the front door was slammed shut and the delighted squeals of her younger siblings was heard from outside. "It's too cold." Emerging from the folds of her blanket, Sapphire checked the house was empty before grabbing herself a mug of cocoa and settling down beside the television, controller in one hand. Her video game, March of the Zombies II, always took her mind off of things and she was soon hunting down zombie scum, thickly lashed blue eyes focused on the neon screen, concentrating on each pixel.

"Sapphire McEldery, I have come to help you find the Christmas Spirit." At first, Sapphire wondered if she was hallucinating. After all, the room was dark and the light was rather artificial, but flickering her eyes to the left, she spotted the figure of a pale cream dog. Hallucination or not, the dog was dressed to impress - white wings on each ear, soft pink eyes and a sprig of holly clutched between the jaws. Momentarily glancing at the dog, however, had redirected her concentration; she lost -5 skill as a zombie lunged at her and she only just managed to shoot it down in time with her pistol.

"Look," she informed the dog/hallucination. "I'm kind of busy here. Why don't you jump on your reindeer and fly home?" The dog shot her a visibly dirty look.
"I don't have a reindeer. I'm not Santa Claus." He told her irritably. "My name is Carrick."
"Shame." Sapphire muttered, aiming her gun at a zombie in the distance. "And are you a girl or a boy? I've never heard that name before."
"I'm a boy!" Carrick yelped, outraged. "And I'm a Christmas Saviour!"
"Uh-huh." Sapphire mumbled, managing to inject some sarcasm into her voice, occupied though she was. Darn those stupid fire-spitting zombies. This level always tripped her up. "And I'm Rudolf." Again, the dog shot her a dirty look.
"It's a crime, to miss Christmas." He breathed furiously, folding his paws as Sapphire took on rapid-fire mode, the cracking of her gun echoing in the room.
"So?" Sapphire asked, smashing the base of her gun into the temple of a zombie. "Breaking and entering is also a crime."

Carrick had no answer for that one, his mouth opening and closing furiously, sprig of holly dropped to the flea-bitten carpet.

{might continue... i love these characters!}

I'll probably try and create pairs with some other CS pets that aren't dogs, just to make a change. xD
