“Everything will be okay, everything will be okay,” she chanted. She began to run her fingers through her messy, blonde hair. She stared into the darkness of her blanket and played music in her head. She didn’t want to hear anything or see anything, not until morning.

“Daddy,” she whimpered, calling out the only name she felt she could trust right now. She closed her eyes and began to think about everything going right. She wasn’t going to be kicked out of the show. The Director was just going to ask her to help investigate the organ incident, that’s all. There are no such things as ghosts. Everything will be all right, everything will be all right. She hugged her knees and thought about her father and how he used to hold her and chanted the very same words. Everything will be all right, everything will be alright. And so, the scared little opera singer cried herself to sleep.

Historical Fiction with hints of supernatural elements.

It depends, really. I enjoy "rewriting" classics, but I am really working towards creating this epic gothic novel based in the Victorian Era. My ideas haven't quite solidified(sp?) yet, though.

Sample Writing:

The shock of finding that your mind doesn't care about pain brought across by the smallest of things. Knowing that death could be around every corner, under every stone, but the thought no longer erupts fear in the heart, but instead seems welcome. When bright, blinding sunlight no longer makes you wrinkle your nose and squeeze your eyes shut. Like your head is in a trance, only aware of the path ahead of you. This is how David felt. Every pebble was a boulder under his bare feet, threatening to drag him to the ground and force him onto the rough, stone roads. Pain seeped through his shoulders and down his thin spine. He was only vaguely aware of the footsteps behind him, closing in on the short distance that kept the air between this young man and the men that were chasing him.
His hands grasped his shirt, trying to find the items that it withheld. It was still there, a small lump in a large, baggy shirt. Another jolt of pain swept through his lower back, and he could no longer take it. No matter how little his mind cared, his body did. His legs gave out from under him, and he found himself on his knees. Large, rough hands fell onto his shoulders, forcing him to lay flat on the hard road.
"You just made a terrible mistake, didn't you?" Came a deep, mocking male voice.
One more shiver of pain, and blackness swelled around his eyes, and within seconds, the conscious world left David.

Oh, I love the name chosen. Very nice. I'm not sure about ideas for a mascot. If you want to furry it up a bit, an anthro that represents writing may be interesting. Unless there were already a few ideas chosen, which I'm going to assume, judging from the poll that will be set up.

Can you give us a sample of your writing?
The girl was tall and lithe, had dark skin and dark brown hair that was curly and puffy, down to a little past her shoulders. She was constantly moving the hair out of her face, and straightening and tugging at her dress, as if it made her uncomfortable. The dress was light pink, and also puffy. it had many layers, and the corset was an even lighter pink,decorated with pearls. She was wearing a big hat and was holding an umbrella.
The girl fingered her the pearls on her necklace, and Jason once again wondered why she has such dark, chocolaty, brown skin.
He had never seen a girl like that before.
She straightened out her corset again, and then looked around, to find Jason staring wide-eyed at her.
She raised her eyebrows and looked away as if him staring at her was nothing of consequence.
Are you currently working on any books? Nah, just brushing up mah skillz. I know that up there stinks and has a ton of grammatical errors, but hey!, I'm only 12. o.o

Before I can accept you, I would like a bit more of a formal reason for why you would like to join, concrete examples for the last question, and you can find roles on the first page i.e. Author, poet, etc. Once that is fixed, I can accepted you. I apologize if I sound picky.

*facepalm* I must be half asleep or something. Most of the stories I write are supernatural and fantasy horror, I hope you don't mind that I change my main form so I can add horror.
