Kjerstin half stumbled into her hotel room and fell onto the bed without even a second thought. Sighing she smiled as she stretched out, digging her toes into the soft comforter. This was amazing, she had no clue how she had managed to win this ticket but she was so happy she had; maybe this trip would give her some time to forget about the chaotic mess that she had left behind in Minnesota. Rolling over she felt a slip of thick paper brush her hand and absentmindedly she picked it up and squinted to make out the letters in the dim light. It was an invitation to a party. “Wow,” she breathed as she read; she never expected this trip to be like this. Sitting up she ran a hand through her hair as she looked around the room. “Well I should unpack but if the dance is tonight I should make getting a dress my priority,” she murmured, unable to break the habit of talking to herself. Standing up she grabbed the sweatshirt that she had dropped when she had entered the room and, after tucking the card into her pocket, she stepped outside. A pang of loneliness stabbed through her stomach as she started off in search of a dress shop, back home she had always went shopping with her friends to get second opinions but halfway across the globe they would be practically useless to her.

Blinking Cody looked around.
