(Is there a form that we should fill out or should we just post a picture of the character?)

(PM any character info to me. You don't have to have a certain form but try to include basics, like what they look like, personality, name, age, etc., any mounts they might have, and if they're going to be on a particular side(Sanryuu Empire, Hon'ren Mesta, Independent, etc.) then I'll approve your character or tell you what you need to change to have it approved. After that, just post a character intro(and it doesn't have to be where I started my first two characters off, it'll depend on what character you want where I can start out, meaning I'll edit/repost the first one to a different spot/character, so you're free to do whatever. Doesn't have to involve the two characters in the first post or anything even.)

Sanaii: X
Ryce: X

Night was slowly closeing it's fingers on the field, lowering a black screen down on the quiet scene. The dark stilled the air weighing it heavily in the lungs of any creatures who were still awake. The silence was shattered as a dark shape charged through the brush sending a nightengale shrieking into the sky. A sharp whistle cut in, stopping the young pup in his tracks. The worg looked around and after a second ran back to its master's side.
"Oh Cailen." Came a soft whisper. Cailen only gave a little snort, he was young and still had more attitude then was good for him. Soft padding was the only sound to be heard as a dragon rider directed their mount closer. A traveling cloak hide most of the rider from sight but the rider lifted their head revealing a girl's face . Mild amusment played across her features as she watched the pup bite at a patch of long grass. Her dragon was an elegant mount, long whip like body, fine build, and a well proportioned head. He had some good blood in him, evident from the feathered wings that were folded against his steel grey body. None of the three seemed to be bothered by the cold. On the contrary all of them seemed to be enjoying the clean fresh air, their breath like kettle stream in the dark night.
Though the worg frolicked around the dragon was a different story. He walked with a light airy gait yet seemed to be slumped slightly. The girl leaned over and said softly "Come on Ryce not to much farther." They had been traveling for nearly the entire day with Ryce flying them most of the way. However she did not give the dragon any signal to move forward, something holding her back. Ahead of her was the Parou field, a long stretch of open cover only broken once by the Quara forest. Natural wariness drove her to avoid places with no cover but night had set and she wanted to get to the city gates as soon as possible. Taking a deep breath she said outloud to herself "Come on Sanaii just do it." making the decision she gave Ryce a firm tap with her heels, Cailen a quick command, and started them off at a quick loping canter. It would have made her feel better to fly but Ryce was to tired, she was pushing it now as it is, and flying into a major city attracted to much attention.
The three of them skimmed along across the grass, mere shadows moving in the field. Suddenly something caught Sanaii's attention, squinting her eyes she could make out two distant figures moving off to her right. Already on edge she tensed in the saddle, they were to far away for her to make out any details so she didn't know what to expect from them. Keeping the two figures in the corner of her vision she faced ahead again and gave a low whistle to Cailen alerting him but warning him not to attack unless there was a need.

((Humm... I was going to wait for a few more posts, but I guess I'll just start now. I'll plunk Ada and Zah in right with Sanaii and the others so we can just keep going. Oh and I'll work on some art for them when I can.))

Characters Entering:
Mawiyah Adawiyah aka Ada
Female • Age 19 • Avaris, BirdMaster • Islands of Avaris
Physical Description
Ada is a tall woman at 5'10" with mid-back length jet black hair and deep sea-green eyes, both of which contrast starkly with her light complexion. She has a long thin face with high cheek bones and a sharp nose, giving her a rather gaunt appearance or that of fragility. She is also a very thin woman, with long legs and arms and fine boned hands with long fingers. Despite her lean looks, she is actually quite strong and athletic up to a point. She tends to wear dark blue and purple robes with a black gi beneath and soft black leather boots that come up to her knees. When traveling, she always wears a long black scarf that can be used as a veil to obscure her face if she anticipates having to deal with locals.

Mount: Zahraa
Female • Age 10 • Sagittari, Grey Kyte • Islands of Avaris
Physical Description
Looking something like an enormous secretary bird, Zahraa sports the plumage of a white gyrfalcon. She has long legs and is agile on land as she is in the sky. Her long legs make her very tall, standing at nearly 12', she has broad wings with a wingspan of 28'. Though she sports a crest of black striped white feathers, Sagittari share a common heritage with the more common dragon mounts, meaning she also has small articulate ears, tipped with black feathers as well. Her large eyes are a silvery-grey and hold an innocent, yet expressive quality. Though she has an imposing looking hooked beak, her feet are her main weapons as she can break the neck of a dragon with one well placed blow.

Ada was so far out of her element now, that any reasonable person in her place would be terrified. However, fortunately for Ada, she was neither reasonable nor terrified. She and Zahraa had passed earlier that day out of the desolate rocks of Barrensscar and into the rolling grasses of Parou Field. So different it was from the sunny island to the north were she grew up, where the sea dashed itself stony cliffs, that the land passing beneath her might as well be a different planet. Well dressed for the cool evening at altitude, there was little visible to distinguish the young women from the darkening sky. She wore a heavy traveling robe over her black gi, a black scarf tied over her head to keep the wind from her hair and face, as well as brass goggles to shield her eyes. She looked down at the point where her gloved hands disappeared into Zahraa's snowy feathers, her wings working in a comfortable and familiar rhythm as they flew ever-further south over the constantly changing terrain. "Keep going, Zah, I know you're tired. But I promise, we'll rest for the night as soon as we can find some cover." The great bird's black-tipped ears tilt back as she listens to her rider, but then something else catches her attention and she turns her head. Heavy beak now pointed behind her, the wind flips her black-tipped feathers into her large silver eyes as she scans the horizon to the north-west. Ada glances back over her shoulder, but the dimming light impairs even her keen eyes. So she signals her mount to turn and together they wheel in the sky, banking sharply to circle in place and get a better look. It only takes one full rotation for Ada to spot what has so unnerved Zahraa: A dark cloud has gathered behind them, and contrary to the wind, has begun to follow them. Oh Avis-Allah, they've found us! Quickly correcting their course, Ada urges Zahraa to redouble her efforts, eyes scanning the distance for any sort of cover.

Ada had left home a mere two weeks ago, and have made quick progress to the south as Zahraa was swift, and well adapted for life in the air as opposed to the more easily tired dragons. Thus, it was just two days ago that she was deep over the Barrensscar and had sought shelter in a cave high up on the wall of a canyon. It was a foolish mistake, brought on by youth and inexperience, as anyone familiar with the Barrensscar would know that the canyons are full of Gorma. On their own, the little creatures seem rather charming, with their bat-like wings only a foot across and furry hog-like faces, but it would be rare indeed to see one alone. They travel in huge colonies, roosting during the day in the dark recesses of the canyons, they emerge at night to hunt, devouring anything they happen to come across. Gorma have a truly sour disposition and that coupled with a hatred of anything with feathers, have made this flock a living nightmare for poor Ada and Zahraa. Upon entering the cave, they flew up in an enormous ruckus of wings and squeals, enraged at the invasion on their home. Ada had barely escaped then, diving out of the cave and into a dense thicket of yew just above the canyon's rim. It seems as though the Gorma have a severe dislike of any sort of vegetation, and few were brave enough to work their way into the trees and continue the attack. Those that did, were easily taken out by a very flustered Zahraa or Ada's boot knife, and as the tide ebbed, she was able to build a fire and that seemed to keep them away completely.

Having arisen the next day and seeing no trace of the Gorma, Ada was secure enough to continue her journey, and when the passed out of the Barrensscar and into the grasses of Parou, she assumed they would not follow. Unfortunately though, it seems as though this particular colony of Gorma have more hatred than fear and have chosen to give chase to the Kyte and her rider out into the sky over the field. The cursed creatures are unbelievably fast on the wing, and it is not long before they are on top of them, diving and chittering as they attach themselves to Zahraa's feathers with their hooked teeth. Ada turns, drawing her knife to fend them off as best she can. The curved blade whips through the air with a hum, sending several Gorma back out into their fellows where the wounded are quickly devoured. She urges Zahraa closer to the ground, like an owl fleeing a flock of crows, the enormous bird dips down until she is skimming just over the long grass, preventing the Gorma from diving at them, lest they risk crashing into the dirt.

Looking desperately for anything that may offer a bit of cover, Ada finds that the air nearer the ground is foggy compared to the crisp, clear sky above. Small scrub and sage brush stick out over the swirling mist that hovers just above the grass that makes the task of finding a place to hide all the more difficult. Rider distracted, Zahraa is left to fend for herself and snaps at any Gorma that pass close enough for her to get her beak on, crushing several as they come too close. Seconds pass, and seem to stretch on for days as Ada continues her search, time seeming to pass painfully slow. It is then that she spots a dark shape looming in the distance just off to her left: a small copse of cottonwood trees pushing their way up though the fog. She immediately urges Zahraa in that direction, and the bird lifts up into the sky, gaining enough altitude to accommodate her wingspan and make a sharp, banking turn towards the trees. It seems the instant they lift up they are immersed in a cloud of Gorma, and the beasts immediately attack, drawing an angry squawk from Zahraa. She rolls, very nearly dumping Ada off as she kicks at them with her taloned feet, before diving for the trees. "Zah! No!" Ada yells, but it is too late, and she crashes open-winged into the thickest part of the copse. Her left wingtip catches a tree and immediately flips, sending both mount and rider cartwheeling into the undergrowth.

There is an old Avaris saying that: 'If you're going to fly, you should learn first how to fall.' Luckily enough, Ada had actually taken that bit of advice to heart and this was not the first crash landing she and Zahraa had had. She tucks in her arms and legs and comes to a rolling stop with a thud against the trunk of a tree. Not taking time to gasp for breath, she is immediately on her feet with knife in hand as she waits for the Gorma. The seething cloud swarms overhead, chittering and squealing in anger, but it seems as though they have had just about enough of this green place, as not a one ventures to force it's way in through the canopy. The enraged cacophony continues for a few long moments, then slowly begins to wain as the creatures give up and move off. As the last of the Goma's voices fade into the distance, Ada lets out a shaky sigh that ends in a fit of coughing.

"Zah? Zah are you alright?" Ada calls softly, not wanting her voice to carry too far into the darkened plain as she is unsure of what else may be out there. Fear grips her when there is no answer, but then she hears a snapping of twigs and branches overhead and the massive bird kicks herself free of the tree limbs and lands nimbly before her on her long, spindly legs. Shaking out her feathers, she cranes her head down on her long neck to look at Ada with wide eyes, and Ada immediately throws her arms around her neck. "Oh Zah! You silly beast! Don't ever do that again!" Zahraa gives a happy sounding little chirrup and settles down on the ground beside her rider.

Inspecting Zahraa for injury, and ignoring her own aching ribs, Ada soon finds that her left wing has several broken feathers hanging from it. "Hut hut, hold out your left wing." Zahraa swivels her head to look at Ada for a moment before reluctantly spreading out her wing as asked. At full extension, one wing alone is nearly twelve feet long and it takes up most of the space between the trees and Ada can walk under it to inspect the feathers. Six out of the ten long primaries on her left wing are either broken or damaged, which means flying is now pretty much out of the question. Dammit... Now what? Ada pulls out her knife and begins sawing through the heavy quills to remove the broken parts so that they will not become entangled and cause further injury. It will take six weeks for new feathers to grow in and we are nowhere near the ports yet... Zahraa looks over her back curiously at Ada as she works, giving her a gentle nudge with her beak. Ada looks back at her, shaking her head, and grabs her beak and gives it a gentle shake. "Ah Zah, you silly bird. Looks like we're walking from here." The bird just looks at her with a bemused expression, her head tilted slightly to the side, and Ada goes back to work removing damaged pinions.

Re: Zemes Devinu{Dragon-Riders/Fantasy RP}(ACCEPTING)

((Sorry guys! That took WAY too long but I've had a bunch of stuff getting in the way. But finally got my post done and it's not half-bad at least! XD Introduction posts are always my weakness))

The pair of dragons crept along silently through the brush, the only audibly sounds the low, almost unnoticeable whispering moan of the night air, and the grating croaks of frogs hiding in the streams that cut through the landscape and chirping of grasshoppers sitting at the peak of the grass stalks. Both beasts and riders were on alert despite that the night was generally quiet and peaceful, experience having taught them well that the worst dangers were the ones you didn’t see coming until too late, and to remain on alert.
The red-haired young male, Fox, kept his keen eyes on the lookout more so than that of his companion, being of more acute sight. The pair kept more in the open and away from the trees, where they could see things around them more easily, and giving the land north, where the Barrenscar lay, a wide birth. Everyone knew and avoided the Barrenscar worse than the plague, the lands where the deepest of evils lay, where the Déamoa spawned. Even those with Winged dragons and the Birdmaster’s didn’t dare to fly over that place. Or at least not most who wanted to make it out alive.
As they crept through the grass, they paused as a stream cut through the land and parted the tall, course grasses, murmuring gently as it flowed shallowly over pebbles worn round by time and erosion. Pulling the dragon’s to a halt, they hopped down off their backs. The large reptiles bent their heads to drink while the black-haired youth took a large water pouch from where it was slung on Mizuiro’s back and bent at the water’s edge to dump out the old and refill it with new, fresh water, then repeating this with Fox’s while the redhead gazed around alertly, keeping watch.
Aobara noticed Fox gazing out intently over the grass, using a large rock to just peak his head over but remain generally unnoticed, and paused, tilting his head.
“What is it?” Even as he posed this question his voice was hushed.
“We’re being watched.” Fox informed, his own voice equally quiet and being careful not to be seen. Luckily the tall grass at least shielded his companion from sight when he wasn’t mounted on his dragon, but the dragon’s themselves were more likely to be spotted. And apparently had been.
“By who?” Mizuiro questioned, moving to join Fox to peak over the grass but his own eyes weren’t nearly as good and he didn’t see much of anything but foggy darkness.
“Dunno…a dragon rider, at the very least. It’s got light coloring, so it stands out a little better than our mounts. I think it’s got wings too.”
“Winged dragon? That’s not exactly common.” Aobara noted.
“Yeah.”
“You think it’s the Emperor?”
Fox snorted. “Don’t be stupid. The Emperor isn’t the only one with a winged dragon y’know, and besides his mount isn’t light colored.”
“Guess you’re right…” Aobara admitted, sinking down from the rock and stretching his arms above his head luxuriously, yawning. “But it’s gotta be someone important for them to have a winged dragon, right?”
“Well someone with money at least.” Fox said, sinking down as well. “Doesn’t mean they’re someone of importance though…and doesn’t mean they aren’t dangerous. Might be better to just avoid them, pretend we didn’t see them.”
“Well if they’ve spotted us and are hostile, pretty sure they would have attacked us already or something.” Aobara pointed out.
“Or they’re waiting to see if we’re worth attacking.” Fox returned.
“Or they could be wondering if we’re hostile and staying away. Won’t know until we go find out from them. Besides, it’s two against one.”
Fox sighed. “I guess so.” He conceded after a moment.
“Then let’s go greet them.” Aobara proposed, once again mounting Mizuiro, the blue dragon perking up and awaiting the signal to move as the teen grasped the reins. Fox mounted as well but before they could nudge their dragon’s towards the other rider, a large mass of light in the sky caught Fox’s eye, not glowing or anything but moving and standing out stunningly against the dark sky.
“Wait…” he said as Aobara wheeled Mizuiro toward the rider in the distance, pulling the dragon to a halt before it could really go anywhere. “Do you see that?” Aobara followed his gaze after a moment and nodded.
“Barely but yeah…I see it.” He said.
“Looks like a bird…a really huge bird.”
“A birdmaster maybe?” Aobara guessed, tilting his head.
“Nah, couldn’t be, no one would actually fly over the Barrenscar, not even with a bird that big.” He said, watching as the huge avian darted and swerved through the air. It was moments later he noticed the darker swarm pursuing it. As the bird dipped over the land to just skim the grass in the distance though, his sharp eyes could see that he was mistaken, cursing under his breath. “Ku’so! It is a rider! And a flock of Gorma!” He said, leaping down from his dragon’s back and grasping the reins, pulling his dragon’s head down and pulling it to lower into the grass, Aobara quickly following his lead. “Keep down.” He ordered, taking a shrouded perch again on the rock. Aobara merely did so without protest and kept either dragon laying tucked into the grass.
He watched even as the bird dipped and swerved over the grass and banking up into the air and sharply towards the trees, taking a spill as it’s wing clipped a tree. He couldn’t help but wince and was half-certain that they were done for but the Gorma seemed to either lose interest or were too wary to venture into the trees after huge white bird and rider, screeching overhead before the swarm moved as one mass back towards the Barrensscar, their thrumming and screeching soon dying away to leave the calm near-silence of night.
Fox waited a few more moments before hopping down, his dragon lifting its head and looking to him in question, Aobara doing much the same.
“C’mon, we should go see that they’re okay…or even alive or whatever.” He said, grasping the reins of his dragon.
“But what about the other rider?” Aobara questioned, not getting up from the ground, his dragon staying put as well as the black-haired teen turned his head in the direction that the other dragon rider had been.
“Pretend we didn’t see them, see if that bird rider is alive, and then continue on our way.” Fox replied simply.
“I think maybe we should just go and talk to them.” Aobara argued.
“Pretty sure someone whose possibly hurt or dying takes priority.” Fox returned.
“Then you go and check on them.” Ao replied, jumping up and climbing onto Mizuiro’s back, the dragon standing up. “And I’ll go and talk to the other rider.”
“No.” Fox said sternly, shaking his head. “We’re not splitting up. You don’t even know who they are, they could be some bandit that kills people and steals their mounts or something.”
“Relax, I won’t be far.” Ao tossed back even as he turned his dragon in the direction that they other rider had been in, nudging his blue dragon into a trot.
“Ao!” Fox called after him before scoffing and shaking his head. “Stubborn…” After a moment he wheeled his own dragon for the tree’s, the brown dragon loping through the grass like a shadow to the edge of the trees and dipping into the shadows silently, blending perfectly with the colors and darkness of the forest. The redhead gazed around and tried to discern where the bird had landed, hoping that it would be easy to spot owing to both the bird’s size and bright white feathers.
“Oi! Anyone alive around here!” He called out. So maybe it wasn’t exactly a polite way to ask or anything but Ao often commented that he had quite a few flaws, especially being blunt and severely lacking of subtlety.
------------
Aobara gazed around as Mizuiro trotted through the brush, yawning and sending a small white cloud of breath into the air. Like many other times the teen wished he had Fox’s sharp eyes but he would have to do without.
“C’mon Ao, you’ll probably have an easier time finding them than me.” He coaxed when he couldn’t manage to locate them, the dragon chirping softly and stopping, lifting up onto his rear legs and nearly toppling the boy from his seat on its back, having to wrap his arms around it’s neck to keep from falling to the ground. “Whoa!”
Once again Mizuiro chirped and the boy glanced up and around Mizuiro’s neck, noticing that they were a lot closer than he had thought…like only fifteen feet away closer.
“Hello…” he offered in something of a sheepish voice, Mizuiro dropping back to all fours.

Re: Zemes Devinu{Dragon-Riders/Fantasy RP}(ACCEPTING)

Postby ET4252 » Fri Feb 03, 2012 12:24 pm

A slow hum as on the air, a gentle pulsating Sanaii pulled up short as she noticed something weird about the sky. It seemed like a patch of darkness was traveling across the sky obliterating the stars. Gorma she thought bitterly, the plague of Barrenscar. As she watched the sky her eyes managed to pick out a large white bird fleeing across the sky. Her mouth dropped as she watched the bird plummet towards the forest trying to gain cover. From her angle however she soon lost sight of the bird as it dipped behind the tops of the trees.
About to turn Ryce around and go investigate she was stopped by a soft growl. The worg was crouched low in the tall grass his dark pelt making his almost invisible. Only when the wind rippled the frozen grass did it become easier to spot his solid unmoving shape.
“What is it?” her voice was quiet and directed more at Ryce then Cailen. The dragon turned his head and looked off to the right. Frowning slightly she followed the dragons gaze and was surprised to see another dragon rider fifteen feet from her.
It took her a few minutes to get over the shock of having someone so close to her. Ryce seemed even less pleased as he pinned back his ears at the rearing dragon. Not liking the closeness and the general manner of the dragon and rider before him Ryce snorted, shook his head and pawed at the ground. However he refrained from rearing like the stranger’s dragon. The boy’s mount was a scarred wingless dragon with blue and black markings and black fur along its back and tail. Mounted on the dragon was a boy would obviously had not been expecting the sudden change to a vertical positioning. As the dragon went back onto all fours the boy looked at her and softly said
“Hello.” Blinking rapidly for a few moments Sanaii gathered her thoughts before replying
“Hi.” After thinking again for a few seconds she added
“Are you the one that was watching me?” He voice was not accusatory, just curious as she remembered Cailen’s growled warning earlier.
