Santa's Elves (Open and Accepting!)

Hatima cross-tied the young male and put the lead rope away. She washed her hands and put some latex gloves on. She ran her hand down his limp leg. She rubbed by the joint and felt it loose. She pushed and with a grunt of pain from Dancer the joint went back in place. She check the other legs and then went to the first one. She rubbed more and felt a loose tendon. She sighed "surgery" She whispered to herself. She grabbed a needle with sedative and injected it into his neck. She undid the ties and led the sleepy dancer to the surgery table. He laid down passed out and she grabbed some tools. She started the 30 min procedure.

Haynya pet Vixen. "I hope you feel better soon, girl."

30minutes later, Dancer woke up from the sedative. -10 days till christmas- she thought, -he can't do it- and led the dazed deer back to his stall. "He need surgery and a joint pop" She told Haynya and Sayde. "Go real light on the feed, only 1/4 of grain and no hay." She said "and give him this pill every evening" She said, putting a bottle of pills into a basket by Dancer's grooming supplies.

She rubbed Dancer's head once and then turned to Haynya "Just give Vixen one of these pills each night" She said, handing her a different bottle. She nodded to her sister and Haynya and then headed to the castle, she had to tell Santa that he would have to use a different male. She knocked on the door and it opened revealing Santa. "Sir, You will have to use another deer instead of Dancer, He had a loose tendon that I didn't see at his last check. I preformed surgery, but he won't be able to pull the sleigh" She explained. He nodded thoughtfully and nodded "work with Swift then and have him in Dancer's place" He boomed. She nodded and walked back to the stables.

Perry noticed Dancer in the hospital stall. "Hey Dance. You don't look too good." Dancer neighed and rubbed his nose against Perry.

Haynya nodded at all of the directions. "Of course I will, I'll make sure the deer are taken care of."

Hatima nodded to Sayde "Work with Swift a lot, He will be taking Dancer's place" She said. Sayde nodded and grabbed a lead rope. She went to the bright red stall which housed Swift, a black and brown deer, the brother of Dancer. She led him out and hopped on. "Yee-ah!" She clucked and Swift started running around, her on his back. Swift snorted and took off, his hooves clawed the air. He raced in circles and she held tight. He landed on the ground, sweating. She led him back into his stall and brushed him down. She fed him a sugar cube and then exited his stall.

Haynya approached Sayde. "Is Swift going to be okay taking Dancer's place? He's not going to hurt himself by overexerting himself is he?" She had a habit of worrying for the reindeer because she was so close to them.

Sayde shook her head "No, these deer progress very quickly each day, I will extend his exercise 1/2 hour and soon he will be perfectly fine." She reassured Haynya. She stroked Swift's head.

Haynya nodded, petting Swift. "He's a good boy."
