I've had this story in my head for a while now and felt like I should share it. (^w^)
You're about to enter the world of winged wolves and owls. Welcome to the Felada tribe, the last tribe where winged wolves and owls live together in harmony and eternal enemies of the ground wolves. But a single young winged wolf
may change the fates of them all.
This is Renna
This is Tia
Seselia^
This is Aspen^
I would put Cloud but hes pure white so......... kind of boring.

~Prologue~
Three winged wolves and three owls sat around a starry pool. The largest winged wolf, a pure white she wolf with violet eyes and a brown feather in her fur, stood up. "There is an incredible danger awaiting the tribe." she murmured. The largest owl, a brown male of unknown breed, spoke "Yes, Harika is right, the danger is one that could make the final tribe lose faith in us, and in the end, destroy us." A male winged shook his head slowly as if in disappointment, "It's hard to believe that one of our own would do this..........." This comment made Harika growl, "Frenden! You know that our kind is not perfect! We always think that we're better then ground wolves just because they have no wings! It was jealousy that caused the ground wolves to wipe out the tribes, if we had treated them equally then maybe that wouldn't have happened! Now stop acting like ground wolves are less then us." Frenden shrunk back at the large she-wolf's scolding. A female barred owl ruffled her feathers "The question is, how do we stop this danger?" she asked. "WE can't stop this, but there is one that can do it." Said the large brown owl, passing his wing over the pool's surface. The image of a young wolf appeared, "Erand, has it been a hundred years?" Harika asked Erand, the large brown owl. He nodded "It is time for the chosen one to rise again........"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~(^-.-^)~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Renna was a black winged she-wolf with red paws, red bangs, a red tipped tail, and three red dots under each eye. She sat next to her friends, eager to fine out what her trainers were going to say. She glanced at her friends, Cloud, a white winged male wolf, Tia, a silver winged she-wolf with black stripes under each eye. Then there was Seselia, a mean, shallow, winged gold she-wolf. They were part of her training group, taught by Mikia and Gamel. Mikia was a brown and black winged she-wolf, Gamel was a male spotted owl. "Okay settle down all of you, today is an important day!" said Mikia, flapping her black wings a couple of times. Renna looked up at her and perked her ears, her flame-colored eyes gleaming. "Today you are all old enough to choose your brother's or sister's in flight, an owl that will be with you until death and fly with you in Skyworld. You have to choose wisely for you can not switch them, they are companions for life. Once you choose your brother or sister in flight, you will move on to the next phase in your training. You will have new trainers, but you most likely will stay in the same training group except with your brothers and sisters in flight."
Explained Gamel
"Now all of you can go to the courtyard and find your brothers and sisters in flight!" Said Mikia. Renna smiled and leaped onto the window sill, she spread her wings and glided towards the ground. "Do you know who your going to choose?" Said a voice behind her, she looked and spotted Cloud. "I have someone in mind." Renna said with a grin.
Renna landed among the many winged wolves and owls in the court yard. She looked around and spotted a male snowy owl in the sky. "Winter!" she called, the owl looked down and smiled, circling down towards her. "Renna! isn't this exciting!" he said with a grin. Winter and Renna had been friends for a long time, when their training started they didn't see each other as much, but they were still the best of friends. "Hey Renna, I was wondering if your would be my sister in flight. Your my best winged wolf friend so...." he said. Renna smiled and gave him a friendly nudge, "Of course I'll be your sister in flight!" She turned and saw Aila, a female elf owl, flying towards them "Have you seen Cloud?" she asked. Renna looked around, "I've seen him, but I don't know where he is..." she said, "I Know!" said Winter, pointing his wing at a white winged wolf on the edges of the crowd. "Thank you" Aila called over her shoulder.
Winter and Renna flew over to the group of wolves that already chose their brothers and sisters in flight. They chatted and waited, soon everyone had gone to the group. But everyone went silent when the Kings and Queens came out of the temple, sightings of them weren't rare but everyone went silent as a sign of respect. There were two kings and two queens, the winged wolf king was called Trenor, the owl king was a Great gray called Denev. The queens came out next, Amethyst, the winged wolf queen, and Erria, the owl queen, also a great grey. They all had the symbol of their royalty, a necklace with a silver wing on it. They landed in front of the crowd and all the young winged wolves and owls lined up, standing with their brother or sister in flight. Trenor walked up to the first in line, a young winged she-wolf with her sister in flight. "What are your names?" he asked them. The young she-wolf answered: "I'm Brook, and this is Lena." Then Trenor spoke with a loud, yet kind voice, "Brook, do you promise to be loyal to your sister-in-flight till death?" Brook gave a small nod, her legs shaking. Trenor turned to the Burrowing owl, "And Lena, do you promise to be loyal to your sister in flight till death?" Lena nodded. "You may now trade feathers." He said. Lena grabbed one of her feathers and tucked it into Brook's chest fur, Brook grabbed one of her wing feathers and tucked it into Lena's chest feathers. This meant that they were officially sisters in flight.
This ritual was repeated with each pair until they reached Renna and Winter, who were, annoyingly, the last ones. "What are your names?" Asked Trenor. "I'm Renna, and this is Winter." Said Renna, trying to keep her voice from trembling. "Renna, do you promise to be loyal to your brother-in-flight till death?" Renna nodded. "And Winter, do you promise to be loyal to your sister-in-flight till death?" Winter nodded. "You may now trade feathers." Winter plucked one of his feathers and tucked in into Renna's bangs, Renna tucked one of her red and black feathers into his chest fur. "Now you will all go to your assigned training groups to get to know your new trainers." said Trenor.
____________________________________________________________
Renna looked around, flapping her wings every once in a while, Winter was perched on her back. An older female great horned owl glided down and landed in front of them. "Are you Renna and Winter?" she asked. "Yes....." Said Renna glancing at Winter with a look of wonder, he shrugged. "I am Korina, one of your trainers. Come with me." Said the Great horned owl. Renna flew after her, with Winter by her side. They landed in front of a large black male wolf with a purple streak on his foreleg. "Renna!" He said with a smile and he nuzzled her behind the ear. "Crow!" Exclaimed Renna, Crow was a good friend of her father, also the game-keeper of the tribe. "Are you going to be my trainer?" She said, tilting her head. Crow chuckled, "Of course." Renna grinned and bounded off to join the others. Like her old trainers said, Renna was in the same group as before. Tia was with a male great horned owl called Oaklin, Cloud was with Aila. Seselia, who was looking at Renna and Winter with a scowl, was with a female barn owl. "Who's your Sister-in-flight Seselia?" Renna asked. The barn owl rolled her eyes, "I'm Lily." she said in a superior toned voice. Renna glanced at Winter with a shrug, they sat with Cloud and Tia, as far away from Seselia and Lily as possible.
Crow stood in front of them, "We would start training tomorrow, but as you may know, The Fire Festival is in two days, so we have to prepare." He said.
The fire festival was a special festival to celebrate when the god's gave them fire. Fire is very special to the tribe because it lets the blacksmiths work, it gives the tribe warmth during winter, and it cooks the food on special occasions.
"Now you can all go help with the decorations, and help with the bonfire." said Korina
Renna glanced at her friends then at Winter, "Do you want to help with the decorations?" she asked tilting her head. Winter smiled "sure." They flew up to a room in the temple where a winged she-wolf who had dark brown fur, pale green swirls along her sides and paint splotches all over her fur, was painting. Her name was Dinil, she was the head artist, she was in charge of making decorations, art projects, and other artistic things. She was also a Roulak, which means that her sister-in-flight died. Renna looked over her shoulder two see Tia, Cloud, Aila, and Oaklin standing behind her, "You guys came!" she exclaimed,
Cloud laughed "Of course! we love to paint!"
Renna smiled and padded over to Dinil, "Can we help?"
Dinil looked up and grinned, "Of course!" she said. "You can help make some banners." She grabbed a yellow roll and spread it out on the floor, it was four wolf wings long. The she flew to a high shelf and grabbed a few wooden bowls in her jaws and some paints. She placed them on the floor and filled the bowls with paint, "Enjoy yourselves!" she called before going back to her work. Renna sat in front of the banner, wondering what to paint.
____________________________________________________________
Renna dipped her paw in the red paint and began to drag it across the banner's surface, then added yellow and orange, creating a swirling flame design. She glanced at Winter, who was holding a paintbrush in his talons. She looked at the flag he was painting, he had painted the silhouette of a great owl surrounded by flames. Renna knew that the silhouette was the owl god, Erand. "Your going to do Harika right?" she asked jokingly. Winter laughed, "Of course!" Harika was the winged wolf Goddess. Renna went back to her painting, finishing it. She stepped back and heard a yelp, she turned around and saw Cloud with red paint all over him. "You knocked over a paint bowl!" he laughed, tensing up. "Wait! Don't shake!" she cried. But it was to late, he shook, splattering red paint on Tia, Oaklin, Winter, and Renna. "Cloud!" groaned Tia. Renna laughed, "What did I just tell you?"
Aila fluttered down from the shelf she was perched on, "Good thing I wasn't here." she said, "Or else I'd be covered in paint like you guys." She landed on a puddle of paint and slipped, splattering orange paint on her feathers. "Oh great....." she muttered. Renna laughed and shook some paint off her paw. "I don't know about you guys, but I'm going to wash off in the stream then go look for wood for the bonfire." She leaped onto the window sill and looked over her shoulder, "Coming Winter?" she asked. He nodded and glided up to her, she smiled and leaped out of the window, letting herself fall. She snapped out her wings and swooped upwards, feeling the wind in her fur. Winter flew next to her their wingtips brushing, they soared above the forest that was their territory. There was nothing there except for dense undergrowth and trees, no paths since they flew every where. This is the place where they are hidden from the rest of the world, no one knows that they live here except for traders that give them some supplies. Any ground-wolf that enters their territory is immediately killed, they say that if the ground-wolves discover them, who knows what will happen. Renna and Winter landed by a stream in the forest. Renna dipped her paws into the cool stream, watching the red paint wash down the stream. She glanced at Winter who was dipping his talons in the water in combing them through his dirty feathers. A mischievous smiled spread across her face, she stalked towards him and knocked him into the water. He let out a "Shreeeeeeeeeee!" of surprise and flapped his wings, Renna used her wing to block the droplets of water. "Hey!" said Winter, looking annoyed. She laughed, then leaped in after him, sending a wave of water. "Okay....... We're all clean, lets go look for wood." she said. They rose into the air and began to search for some dry, burnable wood. Soon they found a fallen tree with many dry branches. Renna was about to grab a large branch when she heard some voices, "Winter, you here that?"
Winter nodded, Renna crept silently towards where the sound was coming from. She crouched beneath a bush and stretched her neck to see what was going on.
She held back a gasp, it was a ground-wolf.
_______________________________________________________________________
Renna crouched, frozen, staring at the ground wolf. It was a male, about Renna's age, with white fur and large brown patches all over his body. What surprised Renna was that he was playing with a female snowy owl, the owl was flying around his head and he was playfully pawing at the air, trying to catch her. Renna didn't recognize the owl, it wasn't a tribe owl. Renna knew what she had to do, she had to get rid of this ground-wolf, she had to kill him. She tensed herself, ready to leap, but she continued to crouch. Why can't I do this? Something inside of her wouldn't let her kill this wolf, she wasn't much of the killing type. She dug her claws in the ground in frustration, the law said that one must kill a trespassing ground-wolf on sight, then why couldn't she do this. Renna thumped her tail on the ground, then froze when she realized what she just did. The ground wolf whipped around at the sound, his ears perked. She could feel Winter tensing up beside her, He's going to see me! The female snowy owl landed on the ground beside the ground-wolf, "I see something under the bush" she whispered. Renna pressed her wings against her body as the wolf crept towards her. "Hello?" he murmured, "there's no need to be afraid."
Before Renna could stop herself, she replied "Hello........."
Her eyes widened at what she just did. Stupid! What am I doing?
The ground wolf smiled and tilted his head slightly, "Why are you hiding? I'm not going to hurt you. I'm Aspen by the way, and this is Jade" He tossed his head towards the female snowy owl.
Renna hesitated, "I'm Renna........" she murmured. Winter's sharp talons dug into her tail, Renna winced. Something about this ground-wolf made her trust him, maybe he really didn't want to hurt her, wings or no wings. She stepped slowly into the open and stretched her legs that had grown stiff from the tense position she was in.
Aspen's eyes widened in surprise when he saw her wings, "You have wings...I though you were extinct" he breathed.
The trusting feeling was gone now, Renna narrowed her eyes "Sorry to disappoint you"
"No! I mean, i just thought you were all dead, i don't want you dead." He stammered. Renna raised an eyebrow, "So... your not going to tell you pack?" she asked. He shook his head, "No! they'd try to destroy you if they found out." Renna sighed "Well there is only one winged wolf and owl tribe left because of the ground wolves."
Winter walked out of the bushes ruffling his wings uncertainly "Are you sure we can trust him?" Winter murmured, so low that only Renna could hear. Renna flashed him a glance that said "I'm not sure"
"Who's that?" asked Jade quietly.
Winter looked at Jade and Froze, his feathers fluffed up nervously as Jade took a step towards him. "I-I'm Winter" he stammered. Jade gave a small laugh and Renna could see a faint blush beneath Winter's feathers.
Then Aspen turned to Renna "You know how you said that all the packs died out except yours, how did they. Our elders told us, but I want to hear your side of the story."
_______________________________________________________________________
Renna took a deep breath, and began her story.
"A long time ago, no one is really sure how long, there were four tribes, including mine. The Felada, that one's mine, The Arkan, The Cascado, and the Lerade. All of them living in temple's a few days journey away from each other. We lived near ground-wolf packs, but we lived in peace, But the Arkans were arrogant, showing off their wings and such. The ground-wolves got jealous, and one day, two brothers wanted to show off their strength by going and killing a winged wolf and an owl, then bringing back their wings as proof. The winged wolves and owls were angry, but being peaceful wolves and owls, they only gave a warning. But the killings continued, turning into some type ground-wolf sport. Finally the winged wolves and owls had enough, they announced that if there was one more killing, they would attack. The ground-wolves ignored this and continued, the Arkan tribe fulfilled their promise and attacked the ground wolf tribe. Outraged by this "Unreasonable" attack, the ground-wolves traveled to the other ground-wolf packs, telling them a fake sob story on how they attacked their camp with no reason and how they are a danger that needs to be gotten rid of. So all the ground-wolf packs went off to kill the winged wolf and owl tribes. They attacked at night, but sent scouts first to yank off our feathers while we were sleeping so we couldn't fly away. They were vicious, killing almost everyone, including the pups, only a few survived. The survivors tried to warn the Cascado and the Larede tribes, but they were to late, they were only able to warn My tribe, so we survived. As for the other tribes, they survivors tried rebuilding their tribes, but soon they gave up and split into small gangs. The ground-wolves, shamed by the failure with my tribe, they decided to tell the future ground-wolf generations that they defeated all of them. Soon enough, they forgot about it completely, so our pack is as safe as long as no ground-wolves discover us."
Renna was out of breath when she finished. Aspen and Jade had their eyes wide, "That's horrible..." he breathed.
"I promise I'll never tell my pack that your alive."
Renna smiled "Thank you. I've got to go, bye Aspen." she said glancing at the sky.
"Wait!" he said, Renna turned around and raised an eyebrow. Aspen lay his ears back slightly in embarrassment, "Can I see you again? cause I don't have friends in my pack and well your the only wolf that doesn't call me a useless weakling." he stammered. Renna hesitated, he was a ground-wolf, it was forbidden, but she felt bad for him.
"Uh, sure, but it has to be a secret Ok?" She said. "Of course!" he exclaimed. Renna smiled then flew back to the temple, with Winter by her side.
_________________________________________________________
"That's all the wood you found?" Crow asked Renna and Winter when they arrived.
Renna shuffled her paws, glancing up at the feeble pile of wood they found.
"um................ maybe......." said Winter with an embarrassed smile.
Crow rolled his eyes and turned around "Try putting more of an effort next time." he said with a heavy sigh.
He spread his coal black wings and took off, flashing them one last glance. Renna sighed, and flashed a glance at Winter.
"Lets go hang up some banners or something." She said with a shrug.
They flew over to a barred owl holding a basket with banners and flags. Renna hovered beside him and grab a banner in her jaws, Winter grabbed the other end and stretched it out. They hung it on the temple wall just above the courtyard, where there sat a giant pile of sticks and logs for the bonfire.
"I'm gonna go help out in the kitchen." said Winter "You wanna come?"
Renna shook her head, "No thanks, I'm gonna hang up some more flags and banners."
"Okay, see ya later." he called over his shoulder as he flew away.
Renna flew back to the barred owl and grabbed another banner, out of the corner of her eye she saw Cloud flying towards her.
"Want some help?" he asked with a grin.
She smiled and nodded. They hung up the banner, then Cloud turned towards her.
"Hey, Renna, where were you today?" he asked.
"Oh, um, just looking for wood." she said, pretending to notice some owls practicing a flying routine.
He gave her a concerned look, "Are you alright? You seem kind of, i don't know....... distant."
"I-I'm fine." she stammered, she hated lying to Cloud.
He grabbed another banner and shrugged. "If you say so..." he mumbled
They stayed silent as they put up the banners and flags.
"I think we've done enough." said Cloud, landing on a ledge that jutted out of the temple.
Renna landed beside him and folded her wings to her sides. She looked around and spotted Aila flying over, holding a chunk of elk meat in her talons.
"You guys hungry?" she asked, landing in front of them.
"Thanks Aila." said Renna with a smile. "Hey have you seen Winter?"
"Ya, he's out hunting with Oaklin." she trilled.
"I think I'll join them and hunt some rabbits or something." announced Renna, spreading her wings and rising into the air.
Day Of The Fire Festival
Renna woke up to Winter prodding her sharply in the ribs.
"Wake up Renna! Its festival day!" he exclaimed, his yellow eyes gleaming.
Renna leaped to her paws, then looked around, the sleeping chamber was empty.
"everyone is outside, come on! We're gonna miss the speech!" Winter called over his shoulder as he flew out the window.
Renna laughed and stretched her red and black wings before following him out to the courtyard. The courtyard was filled with winged wolves and owls, some on the ground, some hovering in the air.
Renna landed among her friends, "Did they start yet?" she whispered to Tia.
Tia shook her head but then looked up at the platform, "Look they're starting!"
Amethyst stepped forward, she began to tell the story of how long ago winged wolves and owls did not have fire. How they suffered cold nights during the winter and starved when they couldn't eat the frozen food. The two gods,
Harika (winged wolf goddess) and Erand (the owl god), saw this and wanted to stop the suffering of their people. So one cold night, they came down from the heavens and gave a warm, flickering element to the tribes that was so warm it changed the winter into summer. That element was fire, the gods taught them how to find fire and how to create it. The tribes celebrated and decided that every year on this day, they would thank the gods by having a festival to celebrate the gift of fire.
Though Renna wasn't listening, she was thinking about last night. She had went to visit Aspen and Jade, she told them about the Fire Festival. She still wasn't sure if she was doing the right thing and felt a small stab of guilt. She felt a nudge in her side, she felt a jolt of alarm.
Cloud leaned over, "I love this holiday." he whispered.
Renna looked at him in surprise, then gave a nervous smiled "Uh, ya, me too!"
Cloud gave her a confused, but then he shrugged it off. Renna let out a small sigh before looking up at the kings and queens again. They had finished the story and Denev stepped forward, "Let the festivities begin!"
Suddenly everyone flew in different directions, going to eat, or play a game, play some instruments, or join in the competitions. Renna and Winter flew over to Crow who had a crowd of 20 or so wolves and owls around him.
As they flew closer, they could hear what he was saying:
"Who wants to join in the Flag hunt?" he called out.
Cheers rose up from the crowd, he began speaking again "Team up with your brother or sister in flight, if you don't have one, team up with a friend."
Renna and Winter smiled at each other, then a burrowing owl flew over and slipped a blue band onto one of their legs.
"I'm sure you know the rules but I'm gonna say them anyway!" Said Korina with a grin.
"Wrestling, and play fighting only! No claws, no drawing blood, and the only place you can bite is the scruff, stealing flags is allowed unless the flags are already in a teams basket, stay inside the forest boundaries, Oh and have fun!"
Everybody nodded and turned to face the forest, Crow hovered above.
"Everybody ready?" he asked, cheers answered. Crow brought his wings downwards "Go!"
Every body lunged towards the forest and Renna was thrown forward into the air.
_________________________________________
Renna quickly regained her balance and flew towards Winter, her fur ruffled.
"Lets start down there." he suggested, pointing his wingtip at a patch of the forest.
They dove down towards it, the wind whistling in Renna's ears. She flapped her wings, helping her speed up. She folded them to her sides as she dove down, Winter beside her. Just before going past the tree tops, she snapped out her wings and steadied herself. She scanned the forest for any of the flags, narrowing her flame-colored eyes.
"Hey there's a fight over there! they probably found a flag!" Said Winter pointing with his wingtip at some wolves and owls fighting over a flag. Renna flashed a glance at Winter and began flying silently over there, hiding among the leaves so that they wouldn't spot her. She could hear Winter's faint breathing behind her as she perched on a branch, peering through the leaves. Two teams were fighting over a flag, following the rules by only play-fighting. The flag was a bit smaller than Renna, for the fire festival it was painted red with an orange flame.
Renna flashes a glance at Winter, he nods and smiles. Renna flaps her wings and flies towards the fighting teams, ready the flag. Right as she passes the wolf with the flag, she twists her head around and snatches the flag out of his mouth before quickly flying towards the temple. Winter was making sure the others didn't grabs the flag, but was having trouble. Suddenly an owl from the other team wrapped its talons around the flag and tried to yank it from her grasp. Renna tossed her head, sending the owl flying through the air, with one glance to make sure the owl was ok, she continued on. Suddenly she felt weight on her back and she stumbled through the air. A wolf from one of the teams was trying to reach the flag. She flipped over, but the wolf clung on to her fur, not letting go. Suddenly it lunged for the flag and yanked it out of her jaws. Renna yelped then chased after him, but he tossed it to his sister in flight, a pygmy owl, who had just escaped from Winter. Renna caught up to the small owl and gave her a gentle cuff over the head, not wanting to hurt her, but it was enough the confuse the pygmy owl. Renna grabbed the flag and rushed to the temple, Winter a little bit ahead of her. They reached the temple and she tossed the flag to Winter who dropped it in their basket. Now nobody could steal it.
********
By the end of the game, Renna and Winter had found 5 flags. Crow and Korina were counting the flags in the team's baskets, Renna was the last one. Crow stood on a stand with Korina perched on his shoulder, he flapped his wings a few times to settle everyone down.
"We have a winner! Darem and Flix!" Korina anounced.
Flix, a pale gray she-wolf with Lilac flecks, and Darem, a screech owl, flew up to the stand. Korina tied a red ribbon to their legs before dismissing them. The others cheered, Renna gave Flix a friendly nudge with her muzzle when she passed.
"But we have a close second!" announced Crow.
Everyone quieted down, ears perked, eager to find out who it was.
"Renna and Winter!" called out Korina with a smile.
___________________________________________________________
Renna and Winter glided down to the court yard, both with an orange bandana-like piece of cloth around their leg. They landed by a long table with wooden plates filled with different foods and drinks: Elk chunks bathed in a red sauce, slices of peaches with sweet berry juice dribbled over the top, and so much more. Renna licked her lips and grabbed a rabbit leg covered with a yellow and orange spice. She trotted over to Cloud, Tia, Oaklin, and Alia, who were eating together. Winter perched on her back, holding a small bowl with chunks of fish floating in a warm broth in his talon.
Renna sat by her friends, "What's up guys?"
"Alia won an agility race!" Cloud bragged about his sister-in-flight.
"Cloud you don't have to tell everyone.........." said Alia, but her yellow eyes were flickering with pride.
Tia laughed, "He does it so no one pays attention his score in the agility contest, he got tenth place."
Cloud looked annoyed, "Tia! I thought you said you would never speak of it again!"
Renna laughed "Stop arguing you guys! Why don't we play temple ball?"
A few other wolves and Owls lifted their heads, "Ya lets do it!" called a voice from the crowd.
Crow and Korina flew down over to them, Crow holding a red and orange ball in his jaws.
"Who said they wanted to play temple ball?" called out Korina.
Cheers rose up from the crowd, some wolves and owls rose into the air and did excited flips. Renna smiled, temple ball was a traditional sport to the tribes. There are two teams who try to get the ball in the other teams hoop. The hoops are large round rings that are stationed on both sides of the temple. (the hoops are like the ones in quittich, from Harry potter) If you get the ball through the hoop, you get a point. The ball cannot be carried in the mouth or talons. The ball must stay airborne, if it hits the ground, the team who dropped it loses a point. Whichever team has the most points by the end of the game wins.
Korina quickly flew to a room in the temple and flew out with a bunch of clothes in her talons, some red, some blue.
"The teams will be red and blue, tie the cloth of your team color around your neck and we can start the game." she explained.
Renna chose red team with her friends and Winter, he helped her tie the cloth around her neck. She got into her position, waiting for the others on her team to get ready. As soon as everyone was ready, Crow hovered in the middle, eyeing both teams. Suddenly he dropped the ball and both teams rushed forward, the game has begun.
__________________________________________________________________________
Renna dashed forward, slamming her head into the ball, sending it flying in the direction of one of her teammates. The owl swung at it with her claw, flinging it high into the air. Renna flapped wings strongly, shooting up towards the ball, which was making a high arc over the head of a blue player. Suddenly she was tackled and given a cuff over the head with a wing, it was a blue wolf player. She growled in frustration, searching the skies for the brown cloth ball. Winter was rolling the ball over his shoulders, sizing up a blue player. She caught his eye, and he tossed to Renna, who sent it flying with a wing slam. It was intersected by a blue owl, who head-butted it in the other direction, right into the goal. The blue team cheered, some calling out friendly taunts to the red team. Renna went back to the hoop, playing defense this time. She felt adrenaline pumping through her veins as the game started again, she watched as it bounced between the teams, flying through the air. Suddenly it was coming towards her, instinctively she threw herself in front of the goal, blocking the ball with her shoulder. She twisted the slightest bit so that when it bounced off her shoulder it went towards her teammate. The ball sailed through the air and the teammate sent it flying into the blue team's goal with his wing. They set up again and continued playing, at first it seemed like blue was going to win, but red made a big comeback and now they were tied, 6-6. Renna was back on offense, feeling a bit of sweat running through her fur. She was breathing heavily, the last round, whoever got a goal would win. Crow dropped the ball into the middle of the two teams and they both lunged forward. Renna scooped up the ball and balanced it on her nose for a moment before tossing it in Cloud's direction. Cloud kicked it with his hind legs and sent it flying into the blue team's goal. Red team cheered happily, Winter flew over to Renna and they slapped wings.
"We won!" he exclaimed.
Suddenly somebody shouted out "the Sun! The sun is setting! We have to light the bonfire!"
Everybody looked up to see the kings and queens flying down to the bonfire, Denev was carrying a torch in his talons. The tribe gathered around the large pile of wood in the middle of the courtyard, leaving space for the kings and queens. They landed in front of the crowd, and Amethyst stepped forward.
"The sun is setting and by tradition, we must light the bonfire as soon as the sun disappears." she announced, cheers rose in answer. Everyone turned their heads to the sun, watching as it sunk behind the mountains. Renna craned her neck to get a better look, eyes shining as the last rays of sunlight disappeared. She whipped her head around to see Denev drop the torch on the pile of wood, letting it burn. Renna felt entranced by the flickering flames, feeling it's warmth spread through her. She felt the brushing of feathers and fur against her, she looked to one side and spotted Cloud.
"Some night huh?" he asked.
Renna smiled and nodded, turning back to stare at the flames.
At midnight the festivities were over and everyone went to sleep after long and exciting day........ (Just a time skip caption thing X) )
Renna slept a peaceful sleep, dreaming about the fire festival. Suddenly it was interrupted, everything went dark and shrieks could be heard. She gasped, searching for where they were coming from, but all she could see was darkness. Suddenly a dark figure leaped towards her, white teeth flashing.
Renna woke up with a jolt, just in time to hear a blood-curling screech rip through the air.
Renna felt her heart skip a beat and her blood run cold as cries of alarm filled the morning air. She lifted her head, looking around the room where other wolves and owls her age were waking up and looking around in confusion. She ran to the window to see armored winged wolves and owls flying around, definitely not from her tribe. They flew through the windows of the temple, attacking the wolves and owls of the Felada tribe.
Suddenly a shriek tore through the air, "Ground wolves! they have found us!"
Renna looked down to see ground wolves swarming on the courtyard, they seemed to be helping the other winged wolves and owls. The scent of fear and anger filled the air as her tribe flew out into the air, suited in armor to confront this new enemy. Renna let out a gasp as an enemy winged wolf darted in and threw himself at her. Screams of pain filled the room as more enemies flew in and began attacking the other young wolves and owls in the room.
Renna felt teeth dig into her shoulder as she struggled to throw off the large male on top of her. She dug her hindlegs into his stomach an kicked out sharply.
