"Watch your thoughts; they become words.
Watch your words; they become actions.
Watch your actions; they become habits.
Watch your habits; they become character.
Watch your character; it becomes your destiny.

Charlie had woken up early this morning to herd the cows up to the barn for some milkin'. It was one of his many daily chores he was expected to fulfill at the break of dawn each and every day. Through gust and wind, Charlie was always reliable to get the job done. At this very moment he was sitting on an old stool he had pulled out, his hands obvliviously squeazing fresh milk from a teat into the bucket that laid under her belly. He called this cow Louis, she was a gentle creature who only ate newly cropped hay, nothing less, nothing more. She was Charlie's favorite cow, ever since he was a boy, he remembered old Louis inhabiting that little corner of his daddy's barn. Louis was one of his only companions in these barren parts. It was both sad and pitiful for a 'good-looking' man like himself. Charlie wished he had the time and expenses for a position down by the docks a boatman, but he was afraid to travel with his sick grandmother all alone in her home all the time. It pained him to even imagine the pain she must be going through, and all he wanted was to end her suffering once and for all. But his mother would hear no say in the matter of pulling the plug on Grandma Pat's treatment and letting her rest in peace.
That reminded him: he had to go check up on old Ms.Pat. Charlie wiped his hands on his overall straps, tipping his hat real low as to block the sunlight from blinding his eyes. He then trudded through the muddy grassland path that winded from the back of the barn to Pearl, who sat parked on a nice dry patch of grass on a hill. He got in and started the engine, turning the radio to something bright and cheerful that he could hum along to. Charlie slowly eased the truck down the curved edge of the hill,"Easy..easy.." he rubbed the side of the car door, as if reassuring ol' Pearl.

"Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgement that something else is more important than fear."
Marilynn jolted awake by the screeching of her father's parrot,"God d*mn it dad, kill that bloody bird, why don't you?!" she threw a pillow at the wall, hoping it'd attract his attention. He came in with the usual untidy hair, uncombed and unwashed, it reeked of fish and some other substance she couldn't detect."Sorry sweetie.." he scratched his head dumbfoundedly,"The little rascal won't shut its trap." he apogolized, adding,"Are you packed?"
Mary gasped, her eyes widening with realization, she had forgotten about the whole trip thingy. What a nimrod she could be, like her father, who seemed to have passed down the rare trait."Give me a minute.." she slipped out of bed calmly, as if she knew what she was doing. But Mailynn was just keeping composed for her daddy's sake, who would freak if he found out she wasn't at all prepared."I'll be out soon.." she pushed him out of her room to ready herself for the inevitable."..brush, hat, makeup, poochie, tops, sneakers, toothbrush.." she began checking off the contents she posessed and the items she needed circled. Putting her hands on her hips like the motherly girl she was, Marilynn lazily strolled into the bathroom to get the glitz and glamour that made her look good on.
