I was going to be the star of the show, the lead dancer. That is, until she came along. With her perfect brown hair and her beautiful golden eyes. Everyone was smitten with her on sight. Everyone but me, of course. I saw through her little act of perfection. She was nothing special, just in it for the fame.
I ignored her for months. She was nothing more than an obnoxious thorn in my foot.
Until one day... I was walking through the dance studio's halls, and I caught a glimpse of brown out of the corner of my eyes, through the window of the door. I saw Belle in there, all alone, dancing. She looked so beautiful, but so... sad. All without speaking a word.
I wanted to know what made her dance look so very sorrowful.

Amy and Izzy, friends forever...
"Wouldn't it be like, soooo cool if we were both the same thing?" Amy was practically bouncing with excitement. Today was the day that the list would be revealed- the list that could change my life! The cast list for The Nutcracker Ballet.
"I mean, we could both be Waltz flowers or something, I was a waltz flower last year, and it was really cool."Amy babbled on. My dream... If I got the part of Clara, the part I'd been wanting forever, I would dance my heart out. It could launch my whole dancing career! I could be on Broadway next year, dancing the part of Clara!
"Or maybe we could do snowflakes, I like the Snowflake song." Amy continued. I just knew if I wasn't Clara, my hopes and my WHOLE FUTURE would be ruined. And as much as I liked Amy, I would not be pleased to be anything with her. Because there was only ONE Clara. Amy would have to be a waltzing whatever all by herself.
I didn't bother looking for my name- I looked straight at the part of Clara. And there, in bright red and green letters were the words "Amelia VanLoss". I stared at the name, dumbstruck. Amy was still scanning the list.
"Oh my gosh. Izzy! Look! I got Clara!" That was all it was to her, wasn't it? A silly little prize to win. She didn't have any bright dreams resting entirely on that one role. She didn't CARE that she was ruining my whole life and career on Broadway.
"Well, lovely for you!" I snapped, storming away from the board. I didn't even look what I was. I didn't care.
I sat by myself for a moment while Amy stood by the board, looking perplexed at my sudden outburst. I never even told her I wanted to be Clara...and it's not her fault she auditioned well enough to be cast.
"Izz? Izz, did you find your name?" Amy called.
"Don't care. I don't really want to be in the show." I mumbled.
"Izz? You're the Sugarplum Fairy."
WHAT? No way I could be the Sugarplum Fairy- she's always played by an older dancer. I ran over to the board again. "Really?"
Sure enough... "Sugarplum Fairy: Isabel Frank" right there in red and green. "This is amazing!" I cheered, hugging my friend tightly.
I really COULD go to Broadway- the youngest dancer to ever hold the role of Sugarplum Fairy! And Amy, I decided, could be Clara in the show. We really were together now- like friends should be.

I don't know... I just pictured these two as ballet friends... one just sort of crazy and friendly and the other a girl with rediculous dreams and a quick temper. Plus, they really DO look like Clara and the Sugarplum Fairy :3

I'm SOOOOO in love with this! So cute and you're right the Blu pup from last years advent fits the role of Clara very well! ^_^

I think that last years advent is the Sugarplum Fairy and this years advent is Clara (Not to be mean or anything I'm just a huge corrector lol!) ^_^ Btw, I love it!!

Rain fell from the skies, crying onto a lone canine as he walked. “ Stupid rain”, he muttered aloud, “I’m the one supposed to be crying, not you. Now no one can see my tears, because you blend in too well. Go away, stupid rain.”

Puddles formed on the ground as he walked, people passing him, staring. Their faces scanned over his body for a fleeting moment, snapping away when he turned to look at them. They were all judgemental. Every single one of them, them and their lifeless, harsh, shunning, bestial forms. They were pristine, glassy on the outside, but their inside was like a swamp crawling with no light.

His long,somewhat dirty, white hair fell over his face, being pressured down by the rain. His hair was not considered elegant, and many people mocked him for it. Upscale males had cropped hair. But poor creatures like himself couldn’t afford haircuts so often. You could always tell a poor from a rich, or so he thought. They wore different clothes. They lived in different places. Their mates were chosen for them.

Ugh. Mates. The thought disgusted the male. They were backstabbers that left you alone, or so he heard. He’d never had one.

Plopping down on a bench that sat with sad weariness, in an even sadder park. The park was for his kind, the poorer. Well, they had developed it to be a park for everyone, but it quickly fell to waste and the richers wanted nothing to do with it. “ Oh Katsu,” he started, “ Katsu. I’m unworthy of my name. Why would they even name me it? They were morons. Must be why.”

He let out a sigh, which quickly turned into steam at the mention of the frigid air. It was peaceful, the rain falling on him, the cool air. Cold on his shirtless body, but his fur did help him remain warm. A wind picked up, tossing his hair back and forth, playing catch with the couple of feathers tied into his locks. His orange fur how now turned an ugly dark brown, a color he didn’t favor. “Hmm.” He muttered to himself. It was too wet to start a fire by himself, so he picked out a single match that he kept in his pockets.

He’d had the skill for as long as he knew. It took only second for him to create his own fire, rising like a phoenix from his palms. But his palms were too damp to start anything now, he needed the match for assistance.

Dropping the stick of fire into his furry fingers, he enjoyed the warmth. But it wasn’t enough yet. Slamming his hands onto his chest he stood up; as not to catch the poor bench on fire. His body licked with flames, drying the moisture that had settled in. It was so warm, and didn’t burn at all.

It was this ability that caused so many to dislike him. He was a kitsune at soul, and a threat to society.

I'm not sure last year's was meant to be any role in particular, just a ballerina, but maybe I'm wrong. When I first adopted the boxes last night, they reminded me of sugarplum fairies- I hadn't seen any of the others yet, because I got three ballerinas
