The Wild Horses of Tyver | Accepting!

Owner- Ess
Co-Owners/Minimods-

Welcome! This is a wild horse Rp, as the title suggests. First, let me tell you a bit about wild horse behavior.

A harem, or band/herd, typically consists of one stallion, a few mares, and their offspring. There is only one stallion in a band, and any colts will be kicked out at two years old. The stallion mates with all the unrelated mares in the harem during the spring and summer, when they're in heat. Next spring/summer, one year later, they will give birth to one foal, rarely twins. A few days after giving birth they will go into heat again. Mares and fillies can go into their first heat as early as one year old or as late as three years old.

A lone mare is a mare or female yearling that does not belong to a herd, but in the spring there will be very few of these, because stallions fight over mares constantly. Mares are like prized possessions or trophies to a stallion.

A bachelor is a stallion or male yearling that has not yet started a herd of his own. Bachelors will sometimes join together to steal mares from herds or will walk alone, occasionally harassing band stallions until they manage to get a mare of their own. Usually young stallions will not be able to get a mare of their own until about four years old because they will be beaten in competition by the older, more experienced stallions.

A band stallion is the one and only stallion in a herd. He steals mares from other bands and mates with all the mares in the spring. He is also the one responsible for protecting his herd against predators and rival stallions. If a band stallion dies, the mares may either split up or the stallion's eldest son may take over the herd.

A lead mare is a mare that is chosen by the lead stallion to lead the herd to watering holes, and also takes the lead when they migrate to the valley each year in the fall. She is bred by the band stallion.

A foal is a baby horse of either gender from 0-12 months old.

A yearling is a horse of either gender from 1-2 years old. Colts are kicked out at the age of two, and fillies may either leave to find a herd of their own, or stay.

A stallion is a male horse over the age of three years and a mare is a female horse over the age of three years. A horse is considered full grown at five years.

Courting is a more gentle way to bring a mare into a herd, or to tell them where to go if a stallion is moving the band to a new location. A stallion will nudge the mare in the direction he wants her to go.

Snaking is a harsh way of getting a mare into a herd, and is how stallions steal mares from other stallions. The band stallion will lower his head and flatten his ears, galloping behind the mare, chasing her into his herd. If a mare is being snaked, there is little she can do to resist the stallion before being forced to go where he wants you to.

If a mare is stolen from another herd, she may sneak back to her old harem if the band stallion has his back turned.

Rules

Postby profilegone » Sun Dec 11, 2011 1:27 pm

Rules
1All horses must start out as a bachelor/lone mare. That means a bachelor has to snake/court a mare into his herd before he is considered a band stallion. And, you cannot be in your own herd, with the exception of foals.
2 Do not steal a mare from someone's herd if the band stallion is offline.
3 No god-modding/power-playing.
4 Be realistic. No horse has powers or wings or anything.
5 There can only be up to six mares in a herd; one lead mare and five subordinate mares.
6 Minor cussing allowed; damn, hell, and ass. Any other curse words should be censored with asterisks. (ex: Sh*t)
7 There are no territories. A band stallion and his mares just roam the land freely.
8 No flawless horses.
9 As many horses as you can handle.
10 There aren't any mates. A band stallion mates with all the mares.
11 Use fades to black if you're mating(or something like that, just as long as you don't go into detail), and no force mating.
12 Don't kill someone's horse unless the other user agrees.
13 Mares don't really have a say in band matters, and can hardly do anything at all when being snaked.
14 Mares have to wait one year before they can have their foal. Get my permission before having a premature birth or before having two foals.
15 This isn't semi-lit, but please use proper grammar, spelling, etc.
16 Be active.
17 If something changes in your herd(a foal is born, a horse dies, etc.), please inform me right away so that I can get it put on.
18 Don't say your horse is the fastest, strongest, etc. (Unless you can get everyone to play along with that... >:U)
19 Have fun!
20 This is mainly just here to even out the rules... and to warn you that I am crazy and random! ...and moody. xD 3: THAT LOOKS LIKE A SPIDER. *end caps abuse*
21 Oh! A couple of things that were mentioned above but you may have missed: Mares and fillies can go into their first heat as early as one year old or as late as three years old. Usually young bachelor stallions will not be able to get a mare of their own until about four years old because they will be beaten in competition by the older, more experienced stallions.

Territory

Territory

Tyver- Utasia is simply the name of the land. There's nothing special about it, it's just what horses refer the entire area as.

The Mountain- The mountain in Tyver is where the horses spend spring, summer, and some of fall. There is plenty of lush, green grass. It's not very steep in most places, but it abruptly stops and ends at a cliff at the top. But beware: mountain lions are constantly on the prowl.

The Watering Hole- The watering hole is located at the base of the mountain, on the opposite side of the mountain as the forest. It's generally the biggest source of water, but small ponds, puddles, and streams can be found on the mountain. In the summer, the streams and everything dry out, making the watering hole the only source of water. It's about half its normal size in summer.

The Valley- The valley is where all the herds migrate in fall. This is where they spend their winters; the walls of the valley help shelter them from the wind and storms. There is a stream snaking through it, but since they only come here in the winter, it is frozen over and the horses have to eat snow to quench their thirst, or break the ice. They dig through the snow to get to grass and roots to eat.

The Forest- The forest is located at the base of the mountain on the opposite side of the mountain as the watering hole. Cougars and even wolves lurk here, so watch out. Horses have to journey through here to reach the valley on the other side when migrating for the winter. A few small forested parts of land are littered here and there on the mountain.

The Cliff- The cliff is the abrupt drop at the top of the mountain. Up here the lush grass vanishes and it's all rocks and dirt and dust. A fall from here will surely kill you.

My characters (:

Postby profilegone » Sun Dec 11, 2011 1:53 pm

Full Name: The Sky's the Limit
Nickname: Sky
Gender: Mare
Age: Four years
Herd: None
Foals: None
Rank: Lone Mare
Siblings: She had a twin brother that was killed by a cougar.
Distant Family: Nope
Parents: Whereabouts unknown
Personality: Sky's a very hard mare to control, considering her brittle temper and knack of taking charge. She judges others by their first impression and never gives second chances. She would never willingly belong to any stallion, even if she knew that he would cherish her and love her. She is very hotheaded and independent, and a stallion would really have to work to get her and keep her.
History: Will edit in later
Other: No.
Looks:

Full Name: Bring Me the Horizon
Nickname: Horizon
Gender: Stallion
Age: Five years
Mares in Herd: None
Foals: None
Rank: Bachelor
Siblings: A few back home.
Distant Family: Not that he knows of.
Parents: They're dead, as far as his knowledge goes.
Personality: Horizon is very strong and holds strength and honor above all things. He does not feel the need to prove himself, and though he's smarter and capable of more than most believe he is, he does not care what others think. He is your stereotypical stallion, not searching for a relationship, but instead interested in having a top-ranking band and spreading his genes; though he is a good leader and treats his mares well.
History: Will edit in.
Other: No.

Full Name: Spirit of the Stairwell
Nickname: Spirit
Gender: Stallion
Age: Five Years
Mares in Herd: None
Foals: None
Rank: Bachelor
Siblings: A couple, not with him though.
Distant Family: None close to him.
Parents: Dead.
Personality: He is determined and strong willed, never backing down. He will always meet a challenge head-on, and would never give up any of mares without a fight. He treats his mares well, and honestly cares for some, while others are just in his herd. He has a soft side to him, when dealing with foals and younger mares, but to him colts must pull their weight in helping to protect the herd until they leave.
History: {Editing}
Other: None.
Looks: Image

Full Name: Valley of Wind
Nickname: Wind
Gender: Mare
Age: Four Years
Herd: None
Foals: None
Rank: Lone Mare
Siblings: None
Distant Family: Maybe some, somewhere.
Parents: Dead
Personality: She is quiet and smart, a thinker rather than a talker. She is loyal, though and will always stay loyal to her herd. She never forgets a first impression, but her view of someone can change, depending on how they act. She is determined, but will only go so far before giving in. She can be stubborn, but only on some occasions. She gets startled easily, though she can fight if she needs to.
History: {Editing}
Other: In Heat
Looks: Image

Full Name: Cherokee
Nickname: Cherry
Gender: Mare
Age: Five Years
Herd: None
Foals: None
Rank: Lone Mare
Siblings: None alive, that I know of.
Distant Family: Maybe some, somewhere.
Parents: Dead
Personality: She is friendly and social, but she can also be quiet and nervous depending on the person. She is loyal, though, and will never leave a friend who needs her. She loves to help, and will help all, no matter the problem. She is very clear, and it is hard to misread her. Though she can be harsh, it is only because she cares.
History: {Editing}
Other: In Heat
Looks: Too big

Full Name: Wish Resign
Nickname: Wish
Gender: Mare
Age: Four Years
Herd: None
Foals: None
Rank: Lone Mare
Siblings: Only a lot, back home.
Distant Family: Back home.
Parents: Dead
Personality: She is determined and loyal, always ready to protect her friends and family. She follows orders of few, and never backs down. Though she helps almost all that need it, she trusts few. She is quiet though, and really only talks when talked to. She hides her emotions well, and only the ones who really know her can tell what she is feeling.
History: {Editing}
Other: In Heat
