"Well...I guess I do, but I never really stop to think about it. Mum was pretty old when she had me- but could still look after herself so I had about one year or so to be carefree. Then, well...she got worse so I had to stay with her far more- but we were still okay. It's this year that's really beed hard- she can't go very far and needs more care than I can give her. Of course Miru- sweet as he may be- didn't help the situation much...but we manage." She paused, remembering her first year of life. She'd leave Balina, wander, and return a few days later. How carefree she'd been! She'd fight the roughest of the strays, and if she was losing she'd simply run away! No one could track her through the dark alleys she knew so well.

Butch just nodded. "I suppose you wouldn't notice. I mean, I don't notice when i have to take care of my boys," he paused. "Their not really my boys, but they seem like it. The way I have to get food for them, keep them out of trouble and find shelter for the night." He sighed. "We manage too, but I'm not sure where they are now. They left me. I'm just hoping they'll find me too, before they get themselfs into trouble." He looked around as if they could appear any moment.

Amira nodded thoughtfully- she knew the feeling. "Where are they now?" She asked, then regretted the question. He probably didn't know. "I'm sure they'll find you." She added lamely.

Butch just sighed. "I hope they do." He remembered how he found Duke when he was a puppy and Amigo when he was a a little older than a pup. But younger than an young adult. "Maybe they have choosen different lifes now. Ones that they can live on their own."

"Many." She murmured. "But life is better if think positively. I'm sure they love you, so they will most likely return. If not, be happy that they have formed their own lives." Amira hoped her words were not misplaced.

Butch nodded. "You're right. Maybe it is their time to start their own lives." He liked having someone to talk to.

"At any rate, once they've settled then surely they'll seek you out to thank you for all you've done for them." She murmured, thinking of what she'd do if ever she lost Balina and Miru. Of course, Balina's death was creeping closer by the day, but Amira could never visualise waking up without first going to check on her elderly mother.

Butch looked at his paws. He knew he would miss them. He hoped they were okay. He looked back at Amira. "I hope so. Thank you, by the way." He said and got up. He turned and left, knowing Amira couldn't follow, because of her family.
