The only advice I have is use references because by using them you teach yourself what different animals look like so you can recall that information if you don't have have access to references. Even the best artists use references because they want to make things as close to life as possible. I googled just a few references for each aspect you were looking for. xD

I wasn't sure what kind of body structure you wanted, so I just went with cougar. :I
