Salem went perfectly still when he felt a hand brush his shoulder. He retreated his feelings back into his unemotional shell, going on the defense. Now I human form, he whittled around and stood to face the creature that had touched him, a look of wariness and watchfulness on his darkly tanned face. His golden eyes finally completed the shift, widening back to their normal pupil size. Salem didn't speak, just criticized the stranger with the look on his face.

Anabelle gave the strange man a blank expression, only allowing her concern to show in her chocolate brown eyes. As her eyes wadnered over his face and form, she noted the slight shift in size that his pupils had made, another sign of him just coming out of the transformation of a wolf. Finally, she came to a decision.
"Are you okay..?" She mumbled hesitantly, her silky soft voice drifting over the wind.

Salem didn't reply at first, steadying his breathing and studying the stranger. All of her traits matched those of the werewolf Anabelle's, whom he had seen and learned about while he wandered the forest. To him, knowing such deep information about those who did not even recognize him was normal, but he kept this to himself, as he didn't want other's suspicion. He did allow himself one slip, however, and called her by name when he finally spoke. A shadow of a knowing smile on his face, Salem said, his voice surprisingly steady, "I do not think I am ever simply ok, Anabelle. I am either amazing or terrible, guilty or honorable." He paused, glancing up at the sky, feeling guilt knot in his belly. "As of now, I am both guilty and terrible."
