Crystal's head jerked to the side, and she raised a nail to her temple, cursing under her breath. She looked sharply at Danny. "Bad idea, kid," she hissed, nails growing to claws threateningly.

Danny stared at her for a moment, his eyes wide. Then, he came to his senses and ran.

Crystal cracked her neck and ran after him, easily catching up and tackling him to the ground.

Danny screamed. More jolts of pain were sent through Crystal's mind. This time they were sharper and stronger.

Crystal's face messed up her expression, though she looked mostly more annoyed than in pain. "Resistance is futile," she muttered, jamming her claws into the side of his face and pulling them down a centimeter.

Danny felt pain sear through the side of his face. He struggled against Crystal's grip.

Crystal tilted her head with false concern and a light sigh. "You never learn, do you?" She dug her claws a bit deeper.

Danny groaned, feeling blood pour slowly down the side of his face. "Why?" he croaked.

Crystal leaned in closer. "Because the X-Men need to learn to stay out of our way," she whispered. "And they've chosen the hard way."

Danny looked at her, now downright horrified. She must be mad, he thought himself.
