This, SOPA/H.R.3261 won't be passed, and worrying about it is silly.
Bills asinine like this are brought up all the time, it's just that not many make it this far. This is just another bill that won't go through. Everyone and their dog panicked over S.978, aka, the "bill to end all streaming".
(Of which S.978 would have not and fear 'mongerers' just crapped themselves for no reason. S.987 was about making it illegal to upload unedited works - like Disney movies - to places like YouTube)
> Censorship is illegal unless the CIA deems it national security- it restricts the First Amendment and goes against Freedom of Information.
> Obama has even said he would veto such internet censorship bills if they make it to his desk.
> People's lives would be ruined/made harder.
> The economy wouldn't be happy.
> Riots, riots, riots.
> It goes against Net Neutrality.
> Even if it does pass there is no guarantee it would even be enforced.
> The threat of states suing.
Is it good to petition? Yes. It's not good, however, to worry about something that won't pass.
Congress just began to debate about it yesterday. It's highly unlikely to even pass Congress and even if it does, it must pass the House, Senate, and then Obama, of which he said he would veto.
Something like this even more troublesome was brought up not too long ago (last weekend) and shot down by the Senate. It would have compromised Net Neutrality and allowed companies like AT&T to limit your activity and possibly even block you from sites. Again, it was shot down.
I don't get why this is getting so much attention.
Strike that. I do.
It's scary to think about, but it's illogical to pass something that would effect almost everyone in the US.

Internet Censorship...
That is completely absurd.
So many lives would be dulled out and ruined.
And youtube and anime sites, dear Buddha the drama the government would get.
I have faith that this will not happen. Though I may not have a religious way of hope for this "faithful-ness", I just don't think people are just going to sit around and let this happen, since a lot of jobs are based off of the internet.
Which basically means, if one person messes it up, then everyone else has to suffer too? That is atrocious. I hope the government is completely bluffing about this, because this will never get through the people.
Also, I did throw my vote down to make that this doesn't happen. I even posted the link to my Facebook. This ridiculous.

I want to tell them, if that would pass, I should be allowed to sue the family(and win, and have my lawsuit cost cheap bills) some "dumb kid" if I found them using my drawings as their own personal paper doll/RP graphic. anything.
what? methinks it's fair. no? This says it is much illegal to use graphics I don't own. then I, a little guy should be able to slam some grubby handed kid.
hypocritical though.

This is what happens when the government tries to play parent. I believe that this will come to pass someday, but not right now. Like all government coercion, it has to come on gradually and in very, very small increments. After the gov realizes it can't get its way by being outrightly honest about its intentions, it will be the sneaky little snake it is. Although, it really all depends on how much the government upholds American constitutional rights in the future. The more the gov strays from the Constitution, the more likely something like this will come true.
