People like to call Xion a mary sue because she is basically a palette swap of Kairi wearing an Organization coat. She is also best friends with Roxas and Axel, has a tragic past/future.

However, much the same could be said about Ventus. So I don't see the problem.

Mary sues aren't always perfect or unbeatable. Characters with tragic lives and special connections to other characters are often called Mary Sues as well.

...That, and some fangirls can't stand her getting between Axel and Roxas. ¬x¬
