.:Clark Carr:.
Deciding he had enough of the student manual, Clark glanced at his watch and decided it was about time to strut around and check up on everyone. It was about 8:45 and class would be starting within 15 minutes. His thoughts drifted to Scarlet, the vice-principal, and he wondered what on earth she could possibly be up to. He was about to go visit with her to sync notes when he heard his name in the halls. He could not quite hear what Natalie was saying, so he decided to go over and investigate.
"Good morning, you two young people. Oh, it always strikes me how quiet everyone is in the morning." Pausing a moment to let that sink in, he quickly veered to a different subject. "It is a beautiful day!" He exclaimed, patting Jack on the shoulder and then pointing a finger at Natalie. "Now you two have a good time with your first classes--I'm going to see if I can track down that Maddix fellow. He's a slippery one, he is. Never trust a man with a pet rabbit."
To the contrary, Clark enjoyed spending time with Maddix and did not believe Waffles made him any less of a trustworthy person. In fact, Clark enjoyed the class pet. He would usually not consider allowing pets, but Waffles was an exception. There was something about the quibbling nose that just could not be resisted.
Clark gave one last wave to Jack and Natalie, and with a skip in his step made his way to the cafeteria. He suspected many teachers would be in there bumming the cafeteria ladies for some coffee. The staff lounge coffee maker was on its last legs and Clark figured he would just go out and buy a new one. The teachers deserved it! They worked hard. Yes... That is what he would do. But first, find Maddix and engage him in a rousing debate. He wondered what sort of response he could arouse out of the science teacher if he told him that over the summer he had converted to Christianity and that evolution was a crock. Clark giggled to himself, deciding that he would leave that one for another day. Oh, how he loved his job and colleagues.
Of course, he needed to make his speech soon. He wondered how he could put Scarlet on the spot this year...
