I can't exactly vouch for American TV (even though I live here), because not a whole lot of our stuff is worth watching. However, I've seen a couple of episodes of Warehouse 13, which I think is an American show. It's pretty good.

As for the movie, I can't really say whether or not I like the idea. I need a bit more info before I decide.

With the movie theme, I heard on the radio this morning that the old two were 'cheaply made'... I mean just about all the BBC stuff is, but I thought they looked fine, I couldn't tell. :)

To anyone out there who knows who the Rugrats are, the Doctor Who influences in the show are astounding if you look for them...

I hadn't noticed this until one of my friends pointed out that Tommy always had his screwdriver with him, and I went searching...

Just watched the last episode of Torchwood season 2... cried my eyes out.
And the first 2 eps of Children of Earth, so good ^^ I never noticed how much 'couple' banter goes on between Jack and Ianto there.

And they mentioned the 'space pig' and now I just want to re-watch doctor who again. It's a never ending Circle, done with Torchwood, watch Doc Who, done with that? Torchwood.... :)

And then Life On Mars D:

And then Kath and Kim D:

*rocks in corner*

Urgh, Viva Laughlin. >.< What a terrible idea that one was - Blackpool was quirky and bizarre and its success was mostly a fluke (a musical murder mystery procedural drama with dancing; what were the odds of that making it?), so why did they think redoing it with poor song choices and awkward acting would work out? The Life on Mars remake at least had the occasional redeeming feature (changing Sam's mother's name to 'Rose Tyler' was a nice touch), but it was mostly just good for laughing at. X3 It was so sloppily done; there's a scene in there when Sam was supposedly alone in a house, and you can clearly see one of the film crew standing behind a door to hold it open. Apparently they remade Life on Mars in part because it was thought that John Simm wasn't 'leading-man enough' for American audiences and that Americans would be confused if they didn't have a big tough leading-man-handsome punch-'em-out sort as the lead. >.> Original Sam was a scrawny fussy grousing moralistic pacifist who made you want to give him a hard slap for being obnoxious and then a cookie for being so sweet and vulnerable, and they made him a stereotypical burly tough-talker who punched out people for no reason, basically Gene 2.0 but without the Gene Genie awesome factor. And then the changed ending. O.o Way to take all the meaning and impact out of the show.

*cough* Anyway, rant over about remakes that butchered their original shows. Back to shows that have not been butchered (too much) and hopefully won't be. I would like to see a Doctor Who movie with Eight (or really anything with Eight), since he doesn't get anywhere near as much exposure as the others and Paul McGann is really a great Doctor. And he's got the new outfit and hair, plus the new sonic, so surely they must be planning to do something new with him outside of the audiobooks. However, it doesn't sound like that's what the movie plans are going toward. :C It seems it will be quite a while until the movie gets off the ground though, if it does at all, so who knows where it might end up eventually.

I watched an episode of the simpsons the other day and there was doctor who in the background, it was great!

Also on another note, re Red Dwarf USA.

I want to be clear I wasn't bashing the USA (if I was you'd know it ;) ) or it's TV shows, I'm a fan of a lot of them and love anything that pokes fun at FOX.

I'm referring to when US tv tries to take something British that is popular and then apply US humor to it. I usually don't like it. Red Dwarf USA is an easy example cause whether you liked red dwarf or not (I was a fan but it wasn't on often) I think it's really easy to see why the US version never got off the ground. Torchwood is a great current example of how the British humor doesn't always work when you make it American.
He never raised his voice. That was the worst thing... the fury of the Time Lord... and then we discovered why. Why this Doctor, who had fought with gods and demons, why he had run away from us and hidden. He was being kind...

Two shows of which Us Versions traumatise me...

Coupling. (horrible... just... horrible)

Being Human. (I watched it the other day, all happy, yay Russel Tovey... and after a bit I was like... this is not a british accent... and I think... he's supposed to be the vamp, she the ghost.... WHY?! Why is there an American Version of this awesome show and why is it called the samee and Whhyyy does SyFy then dump the british version???)

But I did quite like Miracle Day. and there's plenty of american Sci Fi that I do like. ^^

At least there's not an American version of Doctor Who XD That would be terrible! Though, I wouldn't turn down a chance to be the first female American Doctor ;D

I really wish BBC America would show classic Doctor Who serials...It takes forever for them to come using Netflix, as there are only a few available on the Instant Queue. Thank goodness they have the new series, or I'd likely be driven insane...

We wrote a list of our characters today.

Mine are Amy, her sick boyfriend Rory, and "a" Doctor.
