I doubt it, they just appear rarer because lions are generally a bit more popular.

And they were released a few times throught the advent calendar, weren't they... Yeah, I don't think they'll turn rare soon either.

They are getting hard to Find (because of Hoarders...) and demand is getting really high.

Rarity is decided by how many of the pet exist.
