Always go rare for rare on Halloween pets. Their rarity is more like to bolster over the years, plus they have a tendency to look pretty cool, which gives it a boost.

but lions are also valued highly

I would say pretty fair... they are giving you a 2010 lion along with several '11 uncommons for two very recent pets
