"What would you like to drink?" Saya asked.

John sighed and rubbed his forehead. "Um just pour me a glass of wine." he said dismissively. He rubbed his tired face again and looked up at the ceiling. His warm brown eyes were tired and lost, purple bags drooped under his eyes. Over the five years, more wrinkles and grey hairs became visible. He looked back down at Saya. "Thanks." he muttered.

Saya smiles and gives him the cup with wine in it. "No problem, told you that you would ease up."

"Maybe so." he replied with a small chuckle, a tiny smile twisting up the corner of his lips. He took a sip of wine and leaned back in his chair. "Mmmm."

Saya shakes her head and laughs as her baby cousin runs in.

Matthew yelled back, "Nobody sent me!" it was the truth, the whole truth and nothign but the truth. He refused to lie to her, she didn't deserve it. Matt backed away a few paces on Dallas, trying to get out of her reach, but he stayed put then. He could sense it, that desperation, the waver of her tone, so authoritative, yet so afraid. He stopped, but as he saw her dagger, he realised he had probably made the wrong decision to stay. He unsheathed his sword and pointed it at her. "Don't play games, we could both kill each other," he stated, then put his sword away to show he meant no harm.

Kyle got bored being left at the castle. He was never allowed to leave without company because he was very regonisable with his green eyes and blonde hair, just like his mother's the Queen, even though he didn't know it. He glanced around and then slipped through the door that he had seen Rebecca just go through.

Rebecca noticed Kyle as he approached. "No!" she scolded spinning around but it was too late, Mathew would have seen him.

Matthew had indeed seen the boy, but he thought nothing of it. Not only was he more interested in what Emerald had to say, but he also didn't feel compelled to side with the King. Much as he was sure the old man would be grieving, in Matt's eyes, Kyle was more likely to be better off with the outlaws. "It's alright," he said to Rebecca with a nod, his own auburn hair clouding his vision for a moment. He knew all too well what is was like to be restricted by your appearance. Even with the thought he heard echos of 'Spawn of the devil' in his mind. He shuddered, then faced Emerald again.

Emerald scowled and gripped her dagger harder, so hard her knuckles turned white. She wanted to attack and show this stranger he couldn't threaten her, but she needed to find out more. That burning fire of curiousness had once again been sparked. "Only a precaution." she muttered. She took in another invisible deep breath and the scowl disappeared. It was replaced by that cautious yet threatening look that seemed to say If you don't come I'll make you come. She started walking towards the castle, motioning for Matt to follow. "We need to talk." she said as she passed him dagger still in hand.

Stephan was startled by Emerald's anger. He obviously wasn't alone, but for different reasons, he supposed. Emerald's reaction was much harsher than his. He strode to Rebecca and put his hand lightly on her shoulder, comforting her, and took Kyle by the arm. "Come on, chap," he said softly to his cousin, his eyes not leaving the scene.

Chris was nearby, though Arowin didn't know it. He wondered if he should let her know he was.
