I was captivated from day one. I'd watch her from my group, across the passageway from her. While the other puppies jostled and wrestled and played, I would just sit by the glass screen, watching her.
There seemed to be nothing really extraordinarily special about her. She was just a small grey pup at first, under a blanket decorated with two windows in a grey stone wall overlooking a sunset.
But as she grew, a purple mist emanated from her. It surrounded her for a day, and when it eventually evaporated it wasn't a young, helpless grey pup that lay among her siblings, it was a beautiful young she-wolf, with a purple goth-like dress and stunning blue eyes.
Of course, as soon as this happened the Master took her in and gave her a collection of wonderful purple toys, like she had with all of the pup's siblings. The pup seemed bewildered with all the items; even so, I couldn't help but feel a small stab of jealousy as the small pup was given all this. It meant that she was probably safe from being traded away; unlike all of us in my group who could be gone at the push of a button. Literally.
But then her rarity was announced: rare. My jealousy evaporated, replaced by something I'd so far only felt for myself: concern. Now that the pup was rare, more trade offers would be made for her. And more chance of her being traded away. My watching her became less of a way to pass the time and more of a way to convince myself she was safe.

I had been worried about the 'banner pup'- as users called the litter- for quite some time, and I was beginning to tire of just watching her. She'd noticed me gazing at her through the glass screens and had begun to retreat to the back of the glass box where she and the rest of her group lived.
A soft beeping started and a light on the wall began to flash rhythmically. We all scrambled to our feet and organized ourselves as the glass box containing the dogs jerked into motion and slid up the wall. The electronic display changed from Dogs (152 pets) to Dogs (149 pets). The Master had accepted a trade. As the box came down, I eyed it sadly. Three dogs from last month had disappeared. A bewildered-looking dog from three months ago dropped into the box labeled Pets without a group (0 pets) as the display changed to show the glass box was now occupied. Just as quickly, the dog dissolved away and reappeared in the dog group.
The electronic tags on the leather collars we all wore began to glow green as our own group was lifted into the viewing platform. The tags of a few puppies to my left flashed orange as the Master chose those to offer for a young lioness across from us. A typed message appeared above the holographs of the puppies displayed on the platform: Is this OK for you? Feel free to edit :)
Our group was lowered again. I watched the banner pup- Aleah, her name was- as I lay and waited for the user to accept or edit. The puppies that had been offered were sitting together, shell-shocked that they had been offered away. Their tags were now red.
After a few minutes our box moved upwards again. The tags of a few of the offered puppies had gone back to green, and they were playing and laughing again, relieved that they were to stay.
And then the strangest thing happened. My tag turned orange. The same lioness as before now had a message displayed above her: Got them. How about this?
The reply was instant.
Done.
As my tag shimmered red, I just sat there, shocked.
I'd been traded away.
And as my form disintegrated and reappeared in another user's Pets without a group box, another thought struck me.
Would I ever see Aleah again?

I have decided that I no longer want to be on Chicken Smoothie. I have become too infatuated with the site. No, I am not giving away free pets; they will all go to the Pound or to good CS friends of mine.
Bye, CS!

I'm gonna pick up the pieces,
And build a lego house,
When things go wrong we can knock it down.

It's been two days now. Nothing's changed. I got a job. I'm keeping the house clean, I'm cooking for myself. I'm not half bad, you know- you'd like it. I get tired a lot these days; so tired. It's studying, everything, you know? You'd probably tell me to suck it up, but it always made me feel better anyway. There's so many decisions now you're gone. Do you want white or red flowers? Should you be wearing your suit or your favourite shirt?

What song should be playing when they carry you down?

I don't know. I don't know a thing anymore.

And it's dark in a cold December,
But I've got you to keep me warm,
And if you're broke I'll mend you,
And keep you sheltered from the storm that's raging on.

I clench my jaw, staring down at the letter in my hand. I'd written it yesterday, meaning to put it on your grave. The emptiness of the houe seems to echo around me, and for the sixth time that day I turn around and expect to see you standing there. Nothing. Just the muted whining of the washing machine. Truth is, I keep it on just for noise. The house is too big for me without you in it. You lit it up with your laugh, your smile- the way you'd dance with me in the kitchen.

I'm out of touch, I'm out of love,
I'll pick you up when you're getting down.
And of all these things I've done, I think I love you better now
.

When you left, I was certain of your return. Certain you'd swing open the door and walk back into my arms like a fairytale. But fairytales don't exist, do they? Cinderella's dress turned to rags, Snow White ate that apple. This is my poisoned apple, love. And there's no prince to kiss me awake this time.

I'm out of sight, I'm out of mind,
I'll do it all for you in time.
And of all these things I've done, I think I love you better now.

The lock clicks behind me. I twist around and there you are. Your jeans are creased, mud on your shirt. Your face is weary, but beaming. I cannot move, cannot think. This isn't happening- they told me you'd died.

"I'm here now." You say. "I survived."

A second passes, then we fall into each others arms.

And of all these things I've done, I think I love you better now.

[please excuse this awful word vomit- i'm tired and I love this song.

First of all, I believe people need to once again be reminded that you should write for yourself, not for others. Don't just write "Story?" at the bottom of everything. Choose what you want to do. It's as simple as that :3

I'll write something later, for now it's just an idea o3o I don't have time to add on to it at the moment.

And not every pair needs a story, they can just look nice next to each other. x3

Well, you should write for others too :3 Isn't that the whole point of literature?

Anyway, Imma finish my dog story before I start my horse one :)

Ahh, yes, I forgot to mention that. Thank you ^.^ {And for the most part people today have been fine, but occasionally all I can find are people wanting comments}. And wanting comments isn't bad, but you shouldn't value them over your own appreciation of your pair :3

Edit: And good luck with your story owo
