Oh~ I know a lot on the supposed "subliminal messaging" and the Simba/Kimba controversy, being the mini-Disney historian that I am. c:

When the original VHS version of the movie was released in 1995, people complained that they saw the word "sex" formed in the dust cloud that results after Simba flops down. However, the animators later proved that the term "SFX", or an abbreviated form of 'special effects', is formed as the special effects crew added in that particular effect. ^^

As for the Kimba controversy, it's mainly an issue of a similar plot-line. Many argue that it extends all the way back into the sixties, when Walt and the creator of Kimba, Osamu Tezuka, met each other at the 1964 World's Fair where Walt expressed interest in making animated films of some of Tezuka's other series possibly including Kimba. However, no films were ever made. Essentially, it all boils down to how many Kimba fans believe that TLK is just a plot-ripoff of Kimba. True, there are many similarities between the two, but it wouldn't be uncommon for two stories revolving around African lions to be very similar in terms of setting and plot, as one of the filmmakers noted. Even so, if you really research into it, you'll find that the story pulls from more widely-known stories, such as Shakespeare's "Hamlet" and even a bit on the story of Moses. Honestly, TLK and Kimba may be similar stories, but really, they both have their unique twists and story elements that distinguish the two from each other. c:

Personally, I think the people that fight over issues like this, really need to stand back and appreciate the two for themselves, and what makes them special, and not the same. xD

Did someone say Kimba the White Lion? *Is a HUGE KTWL fan*

I know why the names rhyme. When the English animators were dubbing the series for American audiences, they wanted to rename the characters, and they felt that 'Leo' was too unoriginal for a lion name. One of the people in the dubbing team actually suggested Simba, but NBC felt that the name was too general, and they wanted a name that they could trademark (or something to that effect). Someone else suggested changed the S in Simba to a K, and the lion cub became Kimba. But Kimba does mean something in Swahili. *gigglesnort* Anyway, as for Simba, I'm sure that all the TLK characters (Apart from Ed and a few others) were to have Swahili names, and the Swahili word for 'lion' was a good name for the main character. Sure, KTWL does have many similarities to TLK, but like The Lion King said, it was based on Hamlet.

I'm pretty sure that Kimba and Simba would've both agreed to stop fighting over the issue. They have both stood for peace in their kingdoms.

Should we talk about something else, now?

I always thought SFX was what the dust spelt.

I should probably see Kimba, it seems like a good movie. I've only seen Jungle Emperor Leo and I doesn't seem to have much TLK.

That has nothing to do with this topic.

Yes, but it is quite funny that we were a little off topic. They could have easily been talking to us.

I don't think kovu is overrated, but I'm not willing to argue thr point.

Anyway, does anyone have any theories on who kovus father is? Personaly I think Chumvi is his father(chumvi is nalas best friend in the series of books called'six new adventures) He is a dark lion so in that respect it works, but also chumvi is quite arrogant which is kind of like kovu as a cub. I also think kovu was adopted and is not related to nuka or vitani. Just my theory.

I think he was stolen. XD

What about Vitani? I can't see her as Zira's daughter. I either think she's Scar's and Nala's (forced) or Scar and Tama's. Especially Tama, because they have similar head fur.
