Lyric (M)------------Ashlyn (F)
The day had been creeping along like a snail.
Lyric sat behind his desk, still clad in a light coat from the frosty morning he had braved to get here, buffing the newest trade in CDs for the fifth time. He knew he'd never be able to put them out on the shelf, but it was at least something to pass the time. With a deep sigh he turned the disc over and over in his hand to look at all the deep gouges.
"My friend, someone really didn't like you." He mused quietly before snapping it back into it's case. It was funny, a young man had brought in this collection and yet they were all decidedly girly bands. The door suddenly chimed for the first time in hours and the young shopkeeper looked up to see who had just entered.
The woman was young and pretty enough to rival the ladies on the album covers. Her long silver hair hit mid-back, smokey makeup shrouded her pink eyes perfectly. She was wrapped up tightly in her wintery attire, looking around sadly. Lyric mustered a smile that he hoped wasn't too goofy.
"Uh, hi and welcome to Lost Tracks, your one stop shop for used music. My name is Lyric, how can I help you?"
The young woman's eyes caught his pale blue ones and he felt his smile falter from barely dignified to mush.
"Did someone bring in a bunch of CDs recently? It would have been a collection of newer pop and some light rock."
Lyric's heart sunk instantly. Slowly reaching over, smile now completely gone from his face, he picked up the album he had been buffing out only moments ago. "Something like this?"
The way her face brightened made him feel even lower as she reached out to take the plastic case from him. "Oh, you do have them! I've been searching everywh...ere..."
And there is was, the pop of the case, the slightly metallic snap of the disc being freed, and then the dark clouds rolling in over her head as she realized they were destroyed. "I'm sorry, I've been working on them for hours. I doubt they'll be playable."
He paused and nervously ran a hand through his short dusty black hair. "But, um...I do have Alanis Morissette somewhere in here. I hear she's a great female empowerment singer...or break up artist. Whichever you need."
The young woman looked up from her destroyed album and mustered up a smile. "I think I'd like that...I'm Ashlyn, by the way."
Lyric felt the goofy grin return to his face and did nothing to slow it's approach. "Ashlyn, nice to meet you. Now, let's go find you that album."
First attempt at writing a pairing story. ^^;
