It's not like the sunback will suddenly become "rare" because fewer people want it... there is still the same number of sunbacks on the site, so the sunback will stay very rare. Its market value might go down, but that is not the same thing as rarity.

Exatly this^^ Rarity has never anything to do with demand, not on CS not anywhere. Market value have something to do with demand.
How much a pet (or a stamp/coin/whatever people collect) is wanted will never affect how many there are of that pet, it will only affect how much it's worth ;3
However rarity can affect how much a pet is in demand^^ (As in a rare pet is usually more in demand than a common pet.)

That kind of surprised me, I wasn't aware there were so few of them left.
But nobody really wants them I think, so there're probably gonna be a bunch
of them being re-released on Dec. 18th
