My newest project!
That looks really awesome! I'm working on the huge necklace my fursona has and I'm also making badges of my characters 8D
What kind of foam do you guys think I should use for my fursuit head? Like what thickness? x3

I tried once with a one inch foam, the head came out horrible. I wanted to kill it.

Well if you take your time and do it correctly then it should be good.
No i dont like 2'' and 1'' i cant stress enough you cant just stick it on there you have to slim it down.
Well mine is going to cost 1000 for a ful suit. Foam. Fur is the biggest chunk, then other accessories.

Dude, 1/2 foam is really, really thin and kind of floppy. I've only used it for ears [still planning out my head ^^'] but I wouldn't imagine it holds up well as the base of a fursuit. Thick foam is nice since you can carve it down with scissors and get nice smooth shapes out of it.
Just because something works for you, doesn't mean every other method is wrong. You need to experiment with fursuits, otherwise you can very easily get stuck in the same style with little hope of improvement. ^^
For prices just google it and shop around. You can either order it or find a local fabric store. [just be wary of the fur there, unless you're at a really good store the fur will suck]
Since it's a first suit you don't need to go all out on materials. Get stuff that's decent quality but won't make you go broke, since chances are you'll still be getting the hang of things and a lot of stuff can go to waste. Once you know what you're doing you can go for the high-quality, expensive but awesome materials. xD
