Eliza (f) and xxx(f)
The fire had been a surprise. The ninth floor had not received a call that some idiot had set a scrap basket ablaze with a cigarette. And one of many on that floor, a young teen named Eliza, now scrambled around, trying to find the elevator through the black smoke. But no luck. Even if someone was calling her, she couldn't hear over the cries of fear.
Eventually, she found a wall, and immediately felt safer. Ok, the elevator must be... Going into a coughing fit, she almost didn't hear a faint ding. The ding that went off when the elevator was leaving. That's when Eliza dared to open her mouth, "No!"
That sent a cloud of smoke down her throat, burning everything in it's path, sending tears into her bright blue eyes. That was one of the only ways to escape. Now there was only the fire escape. Following the wood carefully, Eliza felt till she got to the windows, again getting her hopes up. Only to be answered by a girl screaming, " It's locked! They locked us into our deaths!"
No. No. No. No. No! She rushed to check it herself, only to meet the same answer. It was locked, and they were all trapped. As she sunk to the ground, head in hands, someone said something about a ladder from the fire department. Which wouldn't work. It wasn't high enough, not even close. Her friend, a boy she met a month after coming to America told her how high it went. And they were much higher.
That's when someone put a hand on her shoulder. Eliza looked up, eye's narrowed to look through the smoke. It hurt immensely. She was a few years older then her, maybe twenty. The elder coughed before pulling her up. "Lass, we don't go down on our knees." She had a Scottish accent, something the teen found soothing. "We go out with-" Her face screwed up before a coughing fit came on. The whole room sounded like that. "-with a fight."
Eliza smiled, wiping hard at her eye's. She then went around the woman, looking out the now open window. So many people below. Some cried, some screamed. But it was all swirled together. But then a scream from behind confirmed everyone's thoughts. "The fire has arrived!"
She then started to hyperventilate. No. She wasn't going like this. Looking back at the woman, she had a helpless look on her face. They would all die here. They would all suffer for minutes from being set on fire. Already her lungs were burning. Eliza again looked out the window before a crazy idea came to mind.
But she would die anways.
Climbing into the window, she looked down. It was so far... Feeling a brush, she looked over to see the unknown woman at her side. "No need to be alone." She said, before two pairs of eyes, brown and blue, surveyed the scene below, hands clasped together.
And then they were gone.
(Ugh. I don't like this one. I just watched a documentary on the Triangle Waistcoat Factory fire.)

This is lovely actually, sorrowful though it may be. I actually made a reference to the Factory Fire with this story when I was reading it because of a book I once read about it. Lovely, and well written. ^^

Salmon and Cupcake
Bonded instantly
it was if
my fate
or some other
random
encounter
of the very sort.
For the sake of romance
let us say
it was their soul
it was their very essence
so suited for the other
that brought them that
Wednesday afternoon
at that cafe'.
They spotted each other
with a gleam in their eyes
and fell deeply and utter in love
at the first glance
a mere look
and they were both done for
so deep
in the strange
emotion
neither had encountered before.
You see, it was a simple equation
food + food = <3
and this equation
was fulfilled at that precise moment
and so the newlyfound happy couple
jumped off into the sunset
with a bang, leaving a steamy mug
of apple cider
behind them.
Feet.
