Well Nathan Fillion did play a super hero, i think that might have been a little nod to that.

I saw Dr Horrible for the first time a couple months ago. and i'm so used to Nathan Fillion as Castle and Mal, sorta semi-serious characters.
Then when this character showed up I cracked up laughing.
