Well, there's no hope of getting a new cage. Any new cage, except a large chinchilla type, would be downgrading for them, size wise. They live in a 2ft x 2ft and like 3ft high ferret cage and love it. I believe I've gotten to all of their escape spots, because they haven't gotten out in a day or two. Also, one of the babies, Apollo, now sits dejectedly on the top shelf when she's not being played with. ):

Have you ever considered getting a Martin cage? They're virtually inescapable due to the wire size. I have the R-95, I believe.

you could build one.
i am working in a new cage for my 4 rats. (2 adult male famcy and 2 4wk old fancy)
it is made of wood and (i for got what kind of wire..) it is 72" tall, 36" wide and 20" deep. it has 4 levels total (bottom, one halfway up and 2 half levels)
it was kinda expensive ($40 for a roll of wire, $7 a beam for wood and 8-9 beams of wood)
it should be done this weekend so i'll post pics later.

No, that's not bad.

Just keep in mind that you don't want to bathe them too often, especially if they're males. That gets rid of their natural oils and such.

i think its fine to bathe rats occasionally. and sometimes they do need it. Mine dont like water muc but i find dropping sone frozen corn or peas or something into a large bowl of warm waterworks just fine

If they like water, swimming is an awesome past time! Fishing for peas, treats, toys, is a fun way to excersise. (:

I hardly ever bathe my rats, they dont really get dirty but sometimes they they get stinky. most of the time they clean themselves.
I think if I bathe them to much they might become dependant and not clean themselves at all. then I would be really busy bathing them all considering i have 19 of them.
