I watched on a documentary that people actually took the wolves with floppy ears and bred them for that characteristic, then started breeding them after they bred them for floppy ears for more wolf-like ears because they liked that as well.

well, like mixed breeds, you know?
ever heard of a puggle? it is a mix of a pug and a beagle. and the beagle comes from a hound. and stuff like that.
but in the end, a wolf starts it somewhere. so i guess i am wrong. you guys don't have to be so touchy >_>

Grey wolves need just about ZERO help right now.

Anyway, just last night I saw this really cool show on Animal Planet about the theory of where dogs came from! There was one scientist who had a theory that perhaps we didn't create all dog breeds on our own. You see, his idea was that the wolves that were naturally less afraid of humans evolved on their own into dogs, that we found use for and then further bred ourselves. The show told that some traits such as adrenaline and fur color are connected.
For example, in Russia, there was an experiment done in, I think, the early thirties, where some man bred the foxes at this place that were least afraid and more curious or something similar of humans. Eventually (he didn't do this on purpose), as the generations of foxes got nicer and more dog-like, so did their appearance. They began to have (I think) bodies built slightly more dog-like, and the variety of their coat colors expanded immensely. Then it showed a youngish girl petting a dog-fox, and it was as friendly as a Golden Retriever puppy! That lucky girl! :P
BTW: WolfBlade; You LUCKY person!!! Well, I guess I'm technically not old enough to own a wolf/wolf hybrid... But still! I want to work with wolves when I grow up! Don't criticize me about it, please.
