Melody nodded in reply to Emerald's nod, which might have looked silly but seemed to make sense. "True enough," said the quartermaster with a smile. They reached the marketplace in no time, and what a market it was! Farmers everywhere, which made sense in a farming town, but also all sorts of expensive imported goods. Silks all the way from China, spices from India, the finest teas from England. There were also charm sellers, people who sold all manner of magical goods. Glancing at these, and always having been a bit of a superstitious person, Melody ended up buying a small Celtic cross on a thin silver chain. This went around her neck, tucked beneath her red hair and down the front of her shirt. She was mostly Irish herself, and a good-luck charm from her homeland couldn't do her any harm.
"Now we're jus' waitin' for Melody an' Emerald to finish with their tradin' at the market, and then we can head down to the wharf and see about a good meal. I think I've had enough of hardtack and stale water, thankee very much." Grinning, she tweaked the end of Rodney's nose and said, "Besides tha', we need to get you some shoes," she gestured at his bare feet, "And a good meal. You're too thin an' I'm sure yore mamma would say the same, wherever she is."
