Last minute entry for Theme 2
A little background info: This story is in Rayo's point of view and takes place when they were a little younger. (Not pups but not adults)
A whizzing sound followed by a crash interrupted our morning patrol that one eventful day. I whipped around nose to snout with one of the ugliest creatures I had even seen. It had green blue leathery skin with a light colored mane and a long lizard tail. The creature's front two feet were clawed while the other two had hooves. Kronador, was the name of the creature baring it's teeth at me. You see, my siblings and I were out on a patrol when this creature decided to rear it's disgusting head. Dax, my brother launched himself at the Kronador. The monster was taken by surprise for a second but then grabbed Dax by his rear leg and threw him aside. Next to attack before I could react was Tira. Tire launched her body at the Kronador's neck clamping her jaws down hard on it's thick skin. I decided I had to help so I jumped onto the back and bit the Kronador's shoulder blade. Dax was already up and fighting again. Dax dashed around the monster's legs and growled at it. Max looked the most scared and stood shocked while we went to fighting. Faolon narrowed her eyes and then without too much more hesitation, she joined the fight. The creature was a little overwhelmed with all of us but at the same time we were in over our heads too. The Kronador thrashed and shook us off while we tried to hold on for dear life. Dax bit the Kronador's side and tore it. Now we're getting somewhere. Tira took one of the Kronador's paws in her mouth and tugged at it. Faolon was now holding on to the tail while I kept riding on the bucking creature's back. My fangs had a hold on the light colored mane of the monster while my claws dug in. When I looked up for a brief moment, Max was gone. I thought I should be worried but at the same time I knew he must be safe. All at the same time Dax, Tira, Faolon, and I gave a final bite to the body of the Kronador and then it went limp. I felt the monster freeze up under me and then it collapsed. The cold empty, bloody body lay sprawled out on the hard ground. I looked up at around at all my siblings. All of us were covered in sweat and blood, weather most of it was ours or the Kronadors was a mystery. My sides heaved and as I gave my brother and my sisters another look I could tell they felt the same. Over the horizon I spotted several wolves galloping toward us. Wearily, I sat down and awaited the wolves' arrival. Max, Mardelius, and Laurona were among the wolves. My Mother and Father raced over to us. "Rayo, Dax, Faolon, Tira! Are you okay!?" My mother's voice was concerned. I glanced back at the dead Kronador behind us and then to my parents.
"Yeah, it's dead," I confirmed. My dad padded over to the body and sniffed it.
"It's dead alright. How did you manage to kill it?" My dad sounded a bit impressed.
"I-I'm not sure," I confessed. My dad made an approving nod. I glanced over at Max.
"Thank you, Max," I said. Max gave me a timid glance and then a short nod with what may have been a possibly smile. My other three siblings padded up behind me.
"Dax! Your head is bleeding!" My mother rushed over to my brother and started to lick the cut oozing blood just above Dax's eye.
"Mom, I'm fine," Dax insisted pulling back his head. Our mother frowned but didn't try to fight Dax. Dad looked back to me then to all of us.
"Rayo, you don't realize how much courage and strength you just showed with your siblings today," My father said. Dax overheard us and smirked.
"Yeah we showed that Kronador!!," He laughed. Dad looked over at Dax trying to keep a firm expression but I swear I saw him smile. My father turned to the other WOI gathered around us.
"Warriors of Isket! Today I'm proud to say another Kronador suffered defeat...and by the paws of my own sons and daughters at that!"
A cheer arose from the wolves.
"However, I fear this is not the last Kronador you will encounter. In fact, your journey to protect Isket is just starting," My dad turned to us and spoke. I couldn't pin point why exactly but when my father had spoken he seemed to glare directly at me. You could say I'm paranoid but I swear it was me he was talking to not Dax, not Tira, nor Faolon or Max. Just me.
