Piper &&& Thomas
.pity kissMaybe she did feel something for him. Maybe she was jealous of Emily and the sort of special treatment she got. Piper hadn't noticed it before, she was too busy being angry or being scared for anything of the sort, but it felt like all of a sudden in the last year this strange feeling had sprung up out of nowhere.
The fact that they were older now could have been it, Thomas wasn't exactly the long faced little boy that used to hide behind his mother's skirts anymore. He looked like one of Savas' men now, but they certainly weren't as fun to catch a glimpse of in the mornings while he wandered around shirtless.
He hadn't done anything different though, and that was posing itself as a problem in Piper's mind. She knew she hadn't changed, she was still as reckless as ever and he let her be. He still let her take all the blame whenever their attempts at escape were caught. He was still Savas' son. There were more reasons to hate him than feel all muddled up inside about him. Being so out of control of her own self was a scary feeling. That was all she had left after all, and now he was taking that from her too.
She shoved him the next time their paths crossed, and he acted like he had no idea what it was for.
“Cut it out.” He pushed her back, not nearly as hard as he could have. If he wanted to, Piper knew he could knock her over as easily as a feather. He could do a lot of things to her without any trouble, just like the other men, but he never did. Sometimes she wanted to ask why, but she didn't really want to know a real reason either.
“No.” She scowled harder – she was always scowling – shoving him again. Next time she was going to hit him, with the bucket she was toting along to fetch the water. He deserved it, if he didn't now he would later anyway.
“No one's even beaten you today.” He said it like that were a reason not to be mad at him. She huffed and rolled her eyes, still testily swinging the bucket along side herself.
“Not yet. And you'll let them.”
That finally made him quiet, the only sign that he was ever annoyed with anything. “You know I cant do anything about that.”
“No on hits Emily as much as me.”
“She doesn't give anyone a reason to.”
“It's because she's pretty, isn't it?” Piper sneered. That had never been important either, not until now. She'd hardly ever caught a glimpse of herself in a mirror, now for some reason she was painfully aware of every last inch of herself. “It's fine, Thomas. Savas already plays favorites, you can too.”
“What's the matter with you?” To her it sounded mostly like a snarl, grabbing her by the shoulders and turning her to face him. If it were anyone else she would have started to snivel and apologize for everything.
“You like her better.” She felt stupid for admitting it like that, and even worse for thinking it. They would sue it against her; If it wasn't Thomas it most certainly would be someone else.
And to her horror he rolled his eyes, quirked smile twitching at his lips. That was more than enough for her. She didn't know what she was going to do, but she wasn't going to stand there and be smiled at or teased about it. Not that her attempts to leave were getting her anywhere, the more she struggled the closer he held her, until she was suddenly very aware of how close his face was to hers.
It wasn't a kiss. She wasn't going to call that little peck on the lips a kiss, but she never had seen him do anything like that with Emily...
Regardless of how much more complicated he had just made things for her, she looked up at him huge almost grateful but definitely confused eyes. He didn't look like it were anything at all, which she felt might be a good thing.
“So, now you're going to stop being mad at me for no reason, right?”
She nodded dumbly, not sure what to make of the question or anything.
