Arthur looked at the two of them sitting side-by-side for a moment before rolling his eyes and grabbing the oars. He began to row out towards the boat, thanking himself that he had been able to row with more than two people in the small boat. He was so used to having his crew do the job, but since he had only gone to shore for a quick drink and supplies, his crew had stayed on the ship.
Suddenly the ship was looming over them, with practically the entire crew looking over the side. They were all shabby-looking, not one of them look handsome like their captain. They were all pirates, sailing the seas for years on end. Allegra looked up at all of them and felt a shiver run up her spine. She was going to be the only woman on the ship... with men that looked like they didn't have a wife or a woman for that matter. Almost instantly she scooted closer to Marcel, her hand brushing his lightly.
Arthur stopped the boat against the hull of the ship before attaching a rope to it near the built-in wooden ladder. He pondered whether letting them get on the ship first, but decided against it as he realised that letting Allegra on the ship first would bring instant chaos over the crew. "Follow after me. And Allegra? I suggest you put your hair up in that hat of yours," he explainer, climbing up onto the ship.
Allegra tilted her head at Arthur's remark, unsure as to why he had told her to put her hair up. Her hair would get tangled and scarggly under the hat, she knew for a fact. However, when she had seen those men aboard, a hint of what Arthur had said was important to keep her safe. Without arguing with herself further, she put her hair up in the hat, making her look slightly more like a man.
