Theme 2
~Laurona~
I couldnt remember a colder day, the blue green grass was thin around my paws. The trees had grown scarce since we came out of the forest, it had became a meadowy scene, ruined by the flooded streams and the few trees around had been broken by the strength of the storm. It was clear winter was around the corner. I eased into a slow trot, looking about the scene for a new area of cover, we couldnt stay in the small whole forever, i knew Mardelius was growing more uncomfortable by the day. And the pups were coming. I glanced behind me, he had been walking slowly all day, following me to make sure i was okay traveling. With a quick roll of my eyes i focused back on the scene ahead of me. I was coming upon the river when mardius stopped me with a sigh. "What?"
"Do we reallly have to cross the river now? what if..."
"Yes" i interrupted "We do, its better if we do it now then when the pups are here we dont have to cross with them"
"Why do we even have to cross at all?"
" There will be a better denning area ther, i just know it, farther away from the chimera, less danger from the wood, a better place for pups and a bigger family..." I looked at him, i knew i had him there. He sighed, i smiled.
Walking closer to the river i breathed it in, ive always loved water, always been a swimmer. But with these pups i didnt want to go in the deepest and fastest part. That would only cause problems. Instead i scanned the river, trotting down the side of it, looking for a shallower crosing. I glanced behind me again, mardelius was watching me with an annoyed look on his face. "What now..?"
"Youve got to know we wont find a shallower place, it poured for two days straight! Its so wet im surprised our paws arent covered in mud!"
With a thin frown on my lips i took a step into the water "Fine ill cross now"
"Lauruna you know thats not what i meant! Please can we go back, or atleast let me cross first so you see how dangerous it is!" His eyes were pleading.
He knew i couldnt stand when he looked like that, i took a step forward and nuzzled him "Im sorry for being a pain... but id really like to cross...." I glanced up at his face.
He had a smile now, he licked my muzzle then ran a distance back away from the river, then going as fast as he could he ran to the rivers sandy edge and leaped, making it a ways across.
Almost instantly the river swept him up, forcing him under, but he came back up in a matter of seconds, his strong paws churning the water quickly, causing small whirl pools in his wake. Even with all his struggling he was still being pulled under every few minutes, and being pulled down stream, about half way there he found a tree that had managed to live in this harsh river, and grabbed onto its medium sized trunk, a branch he had rested a leg on broke and the tree itsself made a groaning sound and a few roots pulled out from under a large rock, giving the tree less stability.
I watched from the side of the river, shouting at him to just come back, dont hurt himself, and im sorry. He paid me no mind though, he was focused on proving a point on how difficult it was to get across.
With a powerful push of the tree, he started again, with a little energy recovered from his short rest. He plunged into the water, his paws moving slower than before, but with just as much power. Soon enough his paws reached the bottom, his back right leg catching a hold of sand and leaping of that to get closer to the muddy sand on the other side. From this spot he could see the wonder of the caves. But from where i was standing all i could see is him collapsing on the beach.
This was not good. I dashed up the beach frantically searching for a shallow spot to start. A large rock became my savior, it towered the river, its peak would give me a great spot to jump from. I looked below, few rocked showed themself on the surface, but i wouldnt be surprised if there were more on the bottom. With a growl rippling in my chest i copied mardelius, running back a ways before running and launching my self off the rock. If it wasnt for the rock, i wouldnt have been able to clear the distance i did with my heavy belly of pups. With the overpowering adrenline of getting to the otherside- no to mardelius- i wouldnt have been strong enough for this current. With my paws churning easily i moved fast through the water, but the rivers massive size was overwhelming.
Soon my breath was coming in huffs, and my paws were slowing, but i was almost there, and i had just passed the spot where mardelius went in. My paws paused for a second, allowing my self a short break. My head going below the surface. I struggled with not gasping, and not breathing, knowing that i would surely drowned if i did. I looked around my area frantically before finding a rock i could climb on. Scrambling onto the rock, i pushed off, breaking the surface of the speedy water with my head and began paddling again as i panted heavily. Only a yard or so left. I began lunging when i got any foot holds, using them to get through the water slightly faster.
As soon as i hit the beach i pulled my self out of the water, scanned the area for mardeious, finding him still on the beach, i dashed towards him. "MARDELIUS!" I yelped as i tripped. Falling heavily. My belly hurt, this couldnt be good. I watched as his head flew up and he spotted me. His dash was a short one, reaching me quickly as we were not far away from one another.
"Laurona are you okay?"
"Yes, we made it"
I glanced up to look at him, he was shaking his head. "are you okay to walk... I may have found a place"
"Where" our eyes were bright with excitement.
"Look around us"
With a questioning gaze i looked around, all around our bluegreen grass was caves, huge mountainous caves. Along with trees and few prey grazing around. Getting to my paws i nuzzled him. "It will be perfect."

7 Months later
The goings still tough, sometimes i dont see how we can get a pack going, weve found a few long wolves and recruited them into the pack, Mardelios is being very protective over everything since i had the pups. All the new wolves he watches untill he is absolutly positive they wont harm us. He is becoming a wonderful alpha in small pack. But yet again the chimera are following us slowly, a few wolves we recently gathered had spotted several not far off from our caves.
Mardelios wants to fight them.
I dont want him to.
He wont listen.
"Mother??" I hear. I look down, Foalan is staring up at me, her tail is wagging so hard her whole body is wiggling. I look back at the opening of the cave, wondering what theyve been doing while i was spacing out.
"Yes foalan?
"May we go out mother?"
I glanced at the other ppups, they were all wiggling too, desperate to get out of the caves. Theyve been out before and have all trained for it too, but with the kronadors around no wolf under a year are being let out. I looked at them and sighed. I couldnt hurt if they went out with a watcher... could it? Nah
"sure lets go, but stay very close!"
The pups ceased their wiggling long enough to shoot outside and begin playing. I cast a gaze around the caves then went to watch them.
Im sure i laid there for hours before a warrior came up to me. His name escaped my mind but i recognized him quickly as a beta for Mardelios.
"Lady Laurona, Mardelios wants me to send you and the pups inside, chimeras have been spotted inside territory not far from here. Their lord is with them along with an army. A fight is coming."
Jacar. That was his name. "Jacar, we will go in, protect him. He is willing to throw his life away for this area, and i want to keep my mate for as long as possible."
I stood quickly, collected the pups with a brisk bark and led them inside, if a fight was to be coming i didnt want him fighting alone.
I glanced amongst my pups, everyone was here... "Pups go to the cave. Stay inside, ill send someone to watch over you. Rayo if anything happens... your in charge."
I let a breath in and out looking at them lovingly before turning and going to find Mardelios.

Rayo
"hear that? Mom said im in charge!"
"Psh she only said that cause Max listens to you and not me!" Dax growled, walking towards me. He was slightly bigger than me in all ways, but that didnt mean he was any better. I slid into a hunters walk, my paw steps silently taking me around Dax before i leaped onto him. He threw me off quickly and pinned me. Suddenly a flash of golden and blue threw him off. Tira stood over him giggling. "And you think your tough!" She chuckled in his face.
We were all clearly taking sides.
It was the same as usual. Dax takes Tira i take Max and foalan. We split amongst each other and started fighting.
It seemed to be as usual, Dax coming for me while Max and foalan gain up against tira. I wanted to mix them up though. With a quick stretch i leaped towards Tira, Dax skidded to a halt, wondering why the heck i was attacking her. Then suddenly it hit him. How we play is if someone 'kills' you your out, and if we get rid of tira then dax will be all alone!
While Foalan and max had tira distracted i caught her throat, gave a pinch and released. With a giggle Foalan turned and raced towards Dax, Max following her. As they raced to catch up to him i grinned at Tira before hiding behind a rock.
While they chased him around the small family cave i waited, soon he would come out on this side and i would show him!
As i heard paw falls approaching i wiggled my butt then leaped, my timing dead on. Dax slammed into me, and we both fell. Giving Max and Foalan a perfect time to 'kill' him. Which they did.
"You loose! We win!" Max bragged, his usual quiet demeanor interupted by the outburst. Usually since Us three are the weaker bunch Dax and tira get us. I stood a bit straighter, my tail a bit higher, proud of my plan.

Laurona
"MARDELIOS! NO!"
Id just arrived at the battle it being farther than i though, it taken me a while and everything seemed to be going so fast, but as soon as i spotted mardelios time seemed to stop. The kronador lord had him in his jaws. His head high and victorious. Mardelios was a bloody mess hanging from the huge kronadors jaws. It seemed to be a turning point in the war. With our Alpha dead and their leader holding him victoriously. Everyone knew what happened now, Warriors finished whatever move the were doing and dashed away from their opponent, Jacar raced over to me. Alarms went off all over his body, "lady laurona! Why are you here?! Nevermind, we must leave!" He cried, pushing me towards the caves.

Months later
Foalan
"mother...?"
I peaked my head into Iginos den, She had been sick for a while now, it seemed to be ever since father died. I blinked the thought away, the sadness from it was still hard. "Mom? Igino?" I walked farther in, the scene was familiar, mother laying in the same spot, Igino somewhere near her or near his work area. But today a certain sadness hung in the air. "igino... is she...?"
"Im afraid so Foalan... The sickness was too much for her..."
My breath froze. It cant be. I looked at her body, the chest was unmoving. It was clear she was gone, it was only a body now, the wonderful wolf that used to inhabit it was gone.
I blinked several times, my eyes burning more with each one. I fled Iginos den, and escaped to a ledge in the upper cave systems.
A howl was working its way to my throat. My eyes burning at the pain of the loss. It seemed to be a rippling effect. Fathers pride, fathers death, mothers sickness, mothers death. My jaw parted, a cry escaping into the air. Several minutes later. I heard others arrive. I knew who it was. Max and tira were first to arrive, they silently filled in the area near me,Tira sat on my left, max on the right. Soon Dax came he sat next to Max. Finnally Rayo arrived, his mate, Soraya coming with him. They settled next to dax. Our howls filled the air. Other isket warriors could hear us and howled little snippets but didnt join in. They only offered hope to us when there seemed to be none, shared in our sorrow, but could not sing for hours for the old alphess as we could for our mother.
After a while we all became quiet. Rayo and soraya, who were the new Chieftain iskets, exscused them selves and retreated into the caves, probably to take care of alpha-ly issues. Dax, who was one of the Alphas we now had left soon after rayo left. Then Tira, then Max.
I sat alone staring up at the sky. A star that had seemed alone for so long was now joined by a brightly shining star.

Years later
Dax
Its been several years since we lost both our parents. Rayo and soraya have been our alphas for a while now and we just put in a new hierachy. Now we have two major alphas and i believe 7 minor alphas, then our warriors, trainees and Igino our healer. It seems to be working. I remember when i used to be jealous about Rayo becoming the alpha, i always thought i would be the one to be the alpha. But im glad im not alpha, because last year rayo was so over run with work that there was a day where he collapsed, Soraya had freaked out. But everythings back to normal
"Dax!"
My train of thought was interrupted by a voice behind me. It surprisingly scared me, not much did that, i guess i was really spacing off. Slightly annoyed that i had been frightened i whirled around. When i saw who it was my day brightened.
"Amarana!" I reared playfully, and leaped towards her then came around and crouched playfully.
"So Darzek, what do you want to do!?" she asked curiously, her eyes a striking red. Her strange characteristics were not the only amazing part of her... I knew i loved this girl, but how can i figure out if she has the same feelings... I let a quick sigh out.
"Dax?"
"Huh"
She looked a bit annoyed, obviously repeating her self wasnt something she was fond of. But i already knew that. We worked together quite a bit, both of us being betas. Er alphas. Well minor alphas.
"What do you want to do?"
"Does rayo need us?"
"Nope. WE are off!"
"Oh really. Whos working then?"
"Ajax and Arkhantos"
"Ahh putting your brothers to work eh?"
"Oh course!"
"So wanna race to the lake?"
She narrowed her eyes at me giving me a quick up down, she knew i had a longer stride than her, but she was too competitive to back down. With a grin on her face..."GO!" she growled leaping to a start and gaining speed fast.
"WUT!?" my purple eyes widened and i darted forward surprised, trying to catch her. In minutes we were running side by side, towards the river my parents had crossed before i was born.
The thought slowed me, but i wasnt slowed for long, my strides brought me head to head with Amarana. I even got in front of her
....I should ask her now... The thought nagged me. I knew i wanted her to be my mate. I leaped forward before a turn that put me directly infront of her. Not my best idea.
After shed slammed into me and sent us both rolling a few times. We sat and laughed side by side before it grew quiet.
"Why did you do
that...?"
"I wanted to ask you something..."
She cocked her head questioningly, then to add to the gesture she raised a brow.
"Would you..." I looked at her blinked and debated with my self "Be my mate...?"
She glanced at her paws then the river then the meadow not far off from here before looking back at me. I knew what she was going to say.
"I mean you-" i began
"Yes"
"dont have- did you say..."
"Yes"
I smiled and nuzzled her. "Wanna go swimming?"

Tira
Trotting around inside the caves was boring. Very boring. Incredibly boring. I honestly dont see how we managed to do it as pups.
"Tira!"
my head swiveled. Not recognizing this wolf i simply cocked my head "What do you want?"
"I need your help."
"Of course you do, what is it?And whats your name?"
"Sasha, and theres kronadors in the Meadow."
With a quick nod and and order to take me to the meadow we set off, quickly moving through the land till we came across Dax and Amarana.
"What are you guys doing?" i asked
"Hanging out" Dax had a huge smile but was narrowing his eyes at me. Something had happened, but i didnt care to pry.
"Well theres kronadors in the meadow, care to help get rid of them?" I shifted my weight waiting was not my strong suit.
I watched as they rose to their paws, then we all followed sasha towards the meadows. When we arrived Max, Foalan, and a few other warriors were already fighting. I watched as sasha broke off from our group to join a black male in fighting, i could tell they were partners. Before she joined him he had been leaving a side almost unguarded and attacking heavily on the kronadors left almost neglecting to attack the other side, and when she came he instantly focused on his side, her on her side, they guarded each other and worked in perfect symetry.
Suddenly i heard a loud snarl, a kronador had came and had been attacking Amarana as she fought another one, Dax had left his own just to snarl, scaring the crud out of that chimera then leaping onto its neck with an aim for its jugular.
"Tira help!" Max yelped. I scrambled into the fight heading straight for max, he was fighting a large one, and it had backed him into a group of trees. I leaped onto its back and bit into its skin, then it was just holding on. It bucked and kicked at me while Max got into a position to fight. I leaped off its back as it went in to roll and barely touched the ground before whirling around and leaping onto its stomach, catching its throat and easily killing it.
Max nodded a thanks at me before helping foalan double team another chimera.

Max
I had always hated fighting. I was not the best at it.
I was lucky Tira wasnt in a fight at the time, but after her help i helped Foalan. After that fight the kronadors had fled or died. With a look around at the warriors it looked as if there were no injuries. With a stretch i trotted back towards the caves. The others had stayed back and were chatting, but i was never one for that. Instead i headed went towards the caves, hunting along the way, catching mice and rabbits easily, when arriving at the caves. I simply headed towards a hall and wandered around.
Hours later tired seepping into my muscles i walked into my den and curled up falling into sleep quickly.
and now....
